Hi domainwizards!

I have sold a domain name in Dan.com. The domain was in GoDaddy so I asked the Auth-Code and the transfer was done. Today I have received this message from Dan:

Hello,

Our buyer is trying to connect the domain to GoDaddy.com. However, his account manager informed us that the domain might have been used by another person previously. Please ask them to disconnect the domain and erase all previous records.

Can you please disconnect the domain?

With kind regards,

I have called to Godaddy but I am not the owner now of the domain name so they can not help me. Have your ever had this kind of issue? How did you solved?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Ask them what they mean with "Can you please disconnect the domain?" I don't have a clue what they're on about.

I would have no idea what that is even referring to.

I would assume whatever the issue as, the new owner should be able to deal with it since the domain is no longer in your possession.

Let me guess;

DNS and Domain Connect
We also know that customers buy services attached to their domain from multiple companies. So we pioneered the Domain Connect protocol.

No clue what problem that 'feature' is solving but you're probably right.

According to dnsperf GoDaddy DNS isn't that bad actually.

It's particularly common to experience some anxiety while reading :)

It is kind of a vague message but I'd tend to agree with what @bmugford posted. The new owner of the domain can deal with it. They are entitled to do whatever they want with the domain and if it is in use somehow like hosted in GoDaddy via another account or something support has a process in place to tell the owner of the hosting or whatever service that the domain owner doesnt want you using his domain for hosting or email so we are going to remove the association and allow the owner to do what they want with the domain.

Sounds like someone being overly cautious, because they're requesting to erase all previous records.

Probably someone with a degree in "EU GDPR" studies where everyone lives in lala land.

what registrar did the domain transfer from to godaddy? If the DNSSEC is still enabled from the previous registrar it will render the domain unusable.. however, there is a way to disable this in Godaddy
