With so many extensions available for as less as 2 dollars hand registration, is the .COM living on borrowed time? In 10-15 years time will .LIFE be the same as .COM in valuation? Or is the .COM living on borrowed time just now...

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Ha ha ha ha :xf.grin:
If one <ha> and the <:xf.grin:> would each mean one <top>, your post would mean <top top top top top> and if these 5 top would then get TLD'd with a .com the domain would still not be top.

I'm saying this to illustrate .com's not top - status.

Every extension is unique in it's own way, same as every human is unique, no need to fight.
The .COM is king but most of it's good domains will be like antiques which most of people can't afford to buy, that is why other extensions will be the alternative.
Every extension is unique but only one is top, same as every human is unique but only one can be top in a competition (respectful fight = ok).
The .com is king yes but there is no alternative to .top if you want your domain name to be top, also there are .top domain names that cost way more than .com domain names or antiques.

.Com is always King. Nobody can change this.

.com is and will always be king but it is not and will never be top.
Nobody can change this.

We liked you so much better when you didn’t post your “top” foolishness for 3 years. I mistakenly thought you might have come to your senses.

I hope you will come to your senses and understand that .com is not top.

I just like seeing people use a good name, regardless of extension or what I have invested in. It makes the internet a better place to visit when the name fits the vision.

The .com - domain name - market is a great place for those who deal with common domain names but not for those who deal with top domain names.

While the vast number of domainers fear NGTLDs replacing .com it will take some time as non-domainers are just now learning and visit .xyz sites and other NGTLDs. Give it 3 years and .com might be dead

Dream on. There is more demand for .com now than ever.

The bot service and real-time data providers gives you the tools you need to better understand ngtlds and their symptoms. In short, the US and Asian market giving up on almost all P&D ngtlds (Shortdot leading the way) and African and EU market starting to show a "give up" signals.

As long as the DNS will exist, .com will be alive.
But being alive doesn't mean being top.
That's the point.

The demand for .com will decrease as soon as people understand that it is not top.

No bot services or real-time data providers will be able to show that .com is (literally) top.
.com is (literally) not top.
That's the symptom.

Okay then give us just one big company with a NON.COM URL. I don't remember just one.

Well, the domain name
s.top
is a great domain name but the domain name
sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.top
is definitely greater.

And each of them topps the whole .com market.

Top will take over .com ..
It (literally) happened already, the whole .com market got topped.
This doesn't mean that .com is dead.
It is just not top.
