information Brent Oxley Loses Access to Create.com, Plus Millions of Dollars Worth of His Domains

Brent Oxley, the founder of HostGator, has been accruing a portfolio of ultra-premium domain names since he sold his hosting company for close to $300 million in 2013.

With purchases such as Give.com for $500,000, Broker.com for $375,000, and Texas.com for $1,007,500, Oxley has spent millions of dollars over the past few years accumulating this collection. According to his website, the portfolio is worth more than $25 million.

Oxley has now, however, lost access to a proportion of his portfolio

so what now??
SOS--same old Sheet
no consequences to the guilty ones.
everyone got away hands free except Brent

Correct. GoDaddy will never publicly admit culpability or that someone there may have used their bias to treat @create.com the way that they did, which is why I railed so hard against them in this thread.

Does anyone here truly think that a company who has chosen to spend more energy on "social justice" than serving their customers, actually believe that political bias never affects their service or decisions? Their latest tweet is literally promoting NPR for freak's sake. And we're supposed to believe that Brent, a well known domain investor in the "wrong demographic" with a history of ticking social justice warriors off merely due to his public ideological positions, wasn't mistreated as a result of that? People are tired of of this crap and are beginning to speak up and take their business elsewhere, and rightly so.

After 14+ months of Godaddy holding my domains hostage and locking them without merit, they have been unlocked and safely transferred to Namecheap. I don't believe Godaddy would have ever have changed their policy if it wasn't for the community rallying to protest this injustice. Thank you all very much for your support and for helping to bring about change!

I now realize more than ever how vital the ICA is and what they're doing to protect our domain property rights in both Washington and throughout the domain industry! I highly recommend domainers to become a member of the ICA at https://www.internetcommerce.org/join/

My company Create.com has donated $50,000 to the ICA and is looking forward to becoming a member very soon. This donation is the least I can do as a small thank you to the community and for coming together to rescue my names.

Namecheap also deserves a special thank you. They went above and beyond by offering free legal assistance and started the process of ICANN's Registrar Transfer Dispute Resolution to help rescue my names from Godaddy. Unlike Godaddy, they also refused Puneet Agarwal's demand to lock my domains when he failed to provide a US court order.

I'm currently exploring legal actions against Godaddy for what they did to me and the millions in damages their poor judgment, lack of communication, and broken policy have cost me. I'm also pursuing legal action against Puneet Agarwal in India. Unfortunately, Puneet's harassment, threats, and extortion demands will never stop until he's behind bars.

I thank each and everyone in this community for helping to bring about change.

Hi Brent,

I am glad common sense prevailed, and the lock was removed.

I brought this issue to @Zak Muscovitch with the ICA and I am glad they were able to help in this process.
I am also glad GoDaddy was willing to listen and commit to making needed changes moving forward.

The donation is very much appreciated. The ICA is one of the only organizations out there fighting for registrant rights on a daily basis.

I thank each and everyone in this community for helping to bring about change.

As God has shown you mercy through this ordeal, you also need to show some mercy in return to the animals that you have in your ranch and although you like any other conservation camp might have to take some drastic measures to guarantee the long term welfare of the wildlife, but you need to make sure that the animals are not going to be used as toys and trophies for those who have no empathy towards other living beings and who take great joy at seeing an animal fall to its death at their feet.

And while you are at it would also be great if you could focus some of your efforts on the many dogs and cats (and other pets) Who are being treated as objects and Who are being discarded by the millions every year just to support the market that depends on breeding and selling them.

You might be in the best position to do some good for Humanity and our Home Planet.

@bmugford I wanted to donate to the ICA after hearing about their tremendous help given to Brent. My question is what membership do I fall under if I donate $800. I noticed there is a wide gap between the individual memberships

lol. Dude, you are ignorant of what is clearly a net biological contribution to biodiversity, literally flourishing new creation that otherwise wouldn't have been. Go do something remarkable yourself and focus, on yourself.

You have been trolling every conversation with your one liners that in no way contribute anything of value to the forum.

If you have something intelligent and constructive to say without belittling others then your comments will be appreciated otherwise if you just want to interfere in some other people's conversations then you are being driven by the wrong motives.

Sure, sorry to ruffle your feathers. My point is, if you look at the website and see the Genesis and investment in creating a new ecology, so what if a few hunters come through? This is Darwinian Selection and the ecology requires the circle of life. Hunting doesn't seem to be what it is all about. Check the sheer number of extraordinary and beautiful creatures supported!

If you had noticed my previous comments regarding this subject you would have understood that it's not the hunting itself that I have a problem with, but rather the great amount of joy that some people take at killing some of those animals and the fact that they are being used as toys and trophies by those who show no empathy for other living beings.

I have seen professional hunters that first of all are skilled enough that they don't cause the animals so much unnecessary pain and suffering and that don't have those ear to ear smiles as they see the animals take their last breath.

I understand that in the current environment some hunting needs to be done for conservation purposes, but the people who are doing the hunting and the way that they do it is what I am not very happy with and I am hoping that as our abilities and technologies improve that we can manage the wildlife in ways that don't require so much killing and suffering.

Anyways that's all I have to say on this subject, I don't want to take this thread off topic too much.

There's nothing more cruel and painful than nature itself when it comes to wildlife. There's freezing weather, blistering heat, drought, famine, fire, fighting for dominance, paralyzation from anthrax, and of course, being eaten alive by predators, to name a few dangers.

If you ever visit my property, you'll see that the animals are well taken care of and live better lives than many people.

I'd happily shut down all our hunting if you or someone else covered my losses. I lose millions of dollars a year and will continue to do so as I love nature very much and am very proud of our conservation efforts. I recommend you read my blog post and visit us before you judge. https://www.oxhuntingranch.com/blog/hunting/hunting-for-conservation/

I am not trying to judge anyone, but rather say that perhaps there is a more logical and humane way that you can find to take care of these animals while still being able to make ends meet business wise.

Have you thought about emphasizing more on the animal park aspect of this so that you can generate the money needed to support these operations more from people who want to pay to see and feed the animals instead of those who are looking for trophies.

As I said I understand that in the current environment perhaps some hunting is necessary for conservation purposes, but lets change the focus more towards to the families who like to come and see these animals rather than those who only want to have the biggest trophies hanging on their walls.

Nevertheless good luck with your conservation efforts, just make sure that you are acting for the best interest of the animals and that you are not trying to keep those happy who have no respect for other living beings.

It is about time you sue GD's A*&SS off and maybe put those involve in jail
Brent was taken hostage by someone who wants to extort him and worst of all GD is the enabler.
Those people involve at GD’s sides should be fired for their incompetence and in Japan, when the leaders are at wrong…you know what happens to them….

Brent should sue for pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, emotional distress- anxiety, depression and most importantly sexual distress.

1. Buy a Premium Domain if you got cash...
2. DON'T PAY the BROKER
3. Create a thread on NP to build public opinion to Unlock the disputed Domain

5. Offer Public something FREE

These domains were locked for over a year. They should have never been locked in the first place.

Outside the obvious jurisdictional issues, there was no court order. Court records show the defendant was not even served.

The removal of the lock will not prevent the lawsuit moving forward. It will however remove the undue leverage that the plaintiff had because of GoDaddy's actions.

Shouldn't you really be asking that question to the person in this thread who literally posted "sycophant brokers cum clowns"?

Yeah, absolutely, but in that case I think the answer is a little more self-explanatory lol

Are you mental? That's precisely what your comment(s) are - judgmental. One of the major concerns regarding this entire shitstorm was whether ideological bias played a role with what happened, and now that there's an outcome, you have the gall to STILL virtue signal into the wind, here on namepros and to @create.com? Stop telling others how you think they should live. Go sell some freaking domains already and leave others be. Perhaps you should use any domain profits and start a "wounded animal project" in your spare time. However, either way, people are DONE hearing BS from folks who are obsessed with spewing their personal definition of virtue, attempting to compel and harass others into agreeing with them.

This comment wasn't addressed to me but, while everyone is entitled to their views about Godaddy's motivations, it is paradoxical to tell Godaddy how to behave in relation to any political messages in their advertising, then object to anyone else expressing views about how a company should behave.

I really hope here we can agree to disagree, respectfully, where necessary without feeling victimised when others disagree with us - for most of us this is a place of business and we deal with people from a wide range of backgrounds, countries and beliefs.

Stop telling others how you think they should live. Go sell some freaking domains already and leave others be.

Namecheap also deserves a special thank you. They went above and beyond by offering free legal assistance and started the process of ICANN's Registrar Transfer Dispute Resolution to help rescue my names from Godaddy.

I'm delighted that you got your names back, and got the support you deserve.

Thanks for the info about Namecheap starting ICANN's Registrar Transfer Dispute Resolution - that is really a vital point that may be what actually forced Godaddy to budge, despite widespread publicity, support, threats of legal action, loss of trust, loss of revenue.

Personally I have used GD as little as possible for years - even under Bob Parsons they were known to have a shoot first, ask questions after approach that threatened losses. Yes they did once threaten to lock my entire account for simply asking a question about a service they provided - they didn't even seek to clarify my question or even say no, we can't or won't answer that.

Whether intentional or not, you're conflating things here. GoDaddy is the one who took questionable actions by locking down domains without a court order. If you took the time to digest most of the comments in this thread, you'd see that people are telling GoDaddy "how to behave", not based on their own ideologies, but rather what should have been done within the confines of the law, as a fair and objective company. So, people here aren't attacking GoDaddy as a result of their own varying, personal ideologies, rather they were attacking GoDaddy for locking millions of dollars worth of domains down without a court order. GoDaddy also seemingly ignored Brent's communication, correct? So, when you factor in GoDaddy's very clear (and very public) social justice mission(s), the possibility that bias played a role in this mess, is a reasonable, logical position for people to have.

In a perfect world, political ideology wouldn't affect key businesses decisions that hurt customers, yes? Obviously this isn't a perfect world. So, if we ever discover that such bias did in fact play a role in harming a customer, shouldn't that be addressed and/or at the very least made public? If we know how a particular company behaves and treats its customers poorly and unfairly, then we'd be able to take our business to a company whose political views aren't used to sway decisions or harm customers who may have conflicting political views.

What people are tired of, are companies like GoDaddy who pretend to be for free speech and without bias, when in fact their actions say otherwise. Listen, if GoDaddy wants to be just as much a social justice organization as they want to be a domain registrar, that's fine. However, it's completely dangerous and disingenuous when they don't admit that their political bias does in fact impact customers. I honestly don't know how much more clear I state that.

If you read everything that I have typed on this thread, you'd see that I have stated that I actually don't give a shit whether a particular company has a certain political bias, so long as they OWN IT. What I do actually care about, is when a company chooses to virtue signal "into the ether" on a daily basis, locks down domains without a court order, and when shitstorms like this are finally made public. upper management has the audacity to absurdly accuse customers and shareholders of being "conspiratorial" and "crazy" for merely questioning whether their ideological bias played a role or not. There's already enough gas lighting being done in society, so we certainly don't need this crap as we're simply trying to conduct business.

Why do you give yourself the right to jump in and make these personal attacks on me when I and @create.com have been engaging in a friendly conversation that in my opinion helped both of us to expand our horizons and made us able to see the situation from the other side's perspective which is exactly what an intelligent and civilized discussion between two people is supposed to bring about.

@create.com is fully capable of expressing what's on his mind himself without you trying to act as his enforcer and I hope that he would chime in to tell you how out of place and rude your comment here has been.

By the way after making all these personal attacks on me you come across as being the most bias person in this whole thread. (even worse than Godaddy)
