Anyone reading this attend NamesCon.online? First let me say I just love the domain industry that I knew absolutely nothing about until about three years ago. Prior to 2017 all I knew about were the very traditional .com, .net, .org, ,gov and .edu extensions (the letters just right of the .Dot). While it's pretty obvious that names like .edu (education), .net (internet), .org (organization), .gov (government) how many consumers or businesses actually know what .com (???) stands for or means?

To draw a comparison (very important), i was the guest speaker at my zoom "K" (Kiwanis) meeting yesterday, and even though we were discussing two very sensitive topics, "suicide and racism" I directed us to, "how many people know what the bold "K" we proudly where on our hats, polo shirts and tee shirts stands for? Ironically, and much to the dismay of my Kiwanis brothers and sisters, very few people in the world have ever heard of Kiwanis despite having over 600,000 members in 80 different countries worldwide. As an aside, but just as important our motto is, "Serving the Children of the World"

Again this was meant to draw a comparison to how little the rest of the world (outside the domain industry) knows or even cares what's right of the .dot:xf.rolleyes:

I know it's incensed many of the members here, but this is a subject that should and needs to be discussed. Why? Because we're literally running out of .com's, and those that are still available are so "overpriced" very few consumers or businesses can afford them. Why is that? It basically involves the old economic theory of "Supply and Demand". However, unlike typical "supply and demand" theory, there are many alternatives to .com, one of them being .online like you saw NamesCon.online using to promote their annual convention which is virtual aka online:xf.smile:

Despite being actively involved in the domain industry for the last three years, I never realized until recently that anything to the .right of the dot is moot. While I own over 900 .online domains that I've accumulated in the last 30 days, many of my .online domains make more sense than their "exact match" .left of the .dot. Here are a few of mine.....LetsDiscuss.online;

Whistleblower.online
QualityDomains.online
Reservations.online (serious dispute with Go Daddy and Radix over this one)
GunSafety.online
CaliforniaHomes.online

btw, you can "Discover" anything .online from Africa to Space. Anyone know where Com is:xf.eek:

Wowzer 900 of them eh? In such a short time. Good luck with them!

I'd just say, it's easy to get carried away when these tld's go on sale, but the crunch will come. If you really believe in the extension, take the next year to exhaustively cull your list. The renewals on .online are double that of .com, and .online is also double the character length- not a good thing!

IMO .online vs .com: There is no contest. Saying something is online is redundant, so what's the point? That is my overall take on the extension. At least .com gives the name ambiguity.

Not to say, there are definitely some names that will work great with it. A scenario where exampleonline.com, which I come across often, for example, can rebrand to example.online. Or, like what you have NameGuy, Whistleblower and Reservations- those are fabulous!

So a few can stand out from the crowd if formed properly, this is what to look at in pretty much any nGTLD. Otherwise, pitting against .com is counter-intuitive, as both styles of domains can live together in harmony if they stick to their knitting.

Yeesh, that's a lot of names to acquire in such a short amount of time. And with numbers like that I assume they were hand-registrations? If so, that's a good recipe for going broke...with any extension

As for .COM vs. .ONLINE, I think the numbers speak for themselves so if you don't sell any in the next year, just drop them and move on to an established part of the market. Don't worry, we've all made mistakes but the important part is to learn from them

Thanks for commenting Ben...got your name from the info page here, and now I feel like I know you better and since I see you're from Canada I like you even more. btw, my middle name is Ben so right there we have something in common. Before we go on, thank you so much for saying, "Whistleblower and Reservations- those are fabulous!" You don't know how much statements like that mean to me when I take these names to market. And before I continue, i stopped commenting and registered two single word names Wowzer.online and Flattering.online. Why?

1. Because I could
2. They just cost $1
3. "Wowzer 900 of them eh?" the first line of your post was the motivation for Wowzer.online
4. Go Daddy values Wowzer.com for $5,875
5. Wowzer.com isn't for sale, and not currently being used
6. 1-5 above goes for Flattering.online because you were so flattering with your comments

I'vve learned most good .coms are;

1. off the grid (meaning they're not available to hand register)
2. are in use as a business/website (20% of them)
3. lead to no where? (30% of them)
4. are for sale (50%)
5. are so expensive, they're out of reach for the average "end user"

For every .com there's an opportunity to own the "exact match" name for your business left of the dot regardless of the extension.

Finally, I'm not close to what's referred to as a "traditional" domainer, nor do I want to be. Verisign referred to the "secondary market" for mostly .coms to be "hidden in plain sight". It's my idea to bring it out from behind the curtains and expose it to the world. Recently a couple of registrars like Go Daddy and Dominion.Domains aka DominionDomains.com have given me reason to expose the true nature of the domain industry to the world, and that's exactly what I plan to do.

Thanks again Ben, and the next time I'm in Canada we'll have to get together(y)

Wowzer Spex......with virtually every left of the .com domain spoken for, I'm able to hand register the "exact match" name left of the dot pretty easily. And only because I've named started and operated dozens of businesses since college. What I find hilarious is you saying to me, "that's a good reason for going broke"?
While $900 is a lot of money to most, I find it a "false narrative" promoted by traditional domainers to keep people like me out of and away from they're little secret:xf.rolleyes: Note the usual suspects/critics following me 24/7 to dispel literally anything I say.

More of the propaganda put forth by the .com crowd is "you'll never be able to afford the renewals" I plan on owning owning 1,000 .online domains by the end of February. I'm at 933 right now, and naming things comes so naturally to me I will have registered another 67 domains that have a .com "exact match" domain that's valued ad Go Daddy anywhere from $5,000 to as high as $362,000 that Estibot values Jackass.com for $362,000:xf.eek: Ironically, Jackass.com doesn't tie to a website or a business, and is for sale at SAW.com for God only knows how much. Keep in mind I paid just $1 for Jackass.online and Jackass.online = Jackass.com anyway you cutit.online. As for the renewals, .online domains renew for $29.99, so that's to say If I don't sell a single domain like Reservations.com I'd have to pay $29,999 to renew all one thousand. I can tell you I'm not worth as much as Frank Schilling - 500M, the founder of Uniregistry.online, but I can afford to pay $29,999 a year to keep my .online portfolio rolling even if I never sell a single .online domain the rest of my life. btw, when you get a chance, check with Frank and ask him who owns Uniregistry.online:xf.grin: Not that I care to own it because Uniregistry is about the dumbest name for a business that I think I've ever heard.

That's it from me rightnow.online. See ya latergator.online:xf.wink:

This thread seems rather redundant. The OP already posted the same thread basically -

.com vs .online...:xf.laugh:

Brad
No, this isn't the same thread....the purpose of this thread is to "Showcase" your .online domains, then "Debate" our "Opinions" about .online vs. .com domains. Here are a few more of my .online domains;

MiamiHomes.online
OhShip.online
Bankrates.online

Brad...i know you have your own website to showcase your domains. Does DataCube ShowCase.online?
I do see where DataCube.online is for sale at Sedo.com. Is that your's? That could become a valuable domain someday after I'm through making .online famous. As I'm fond of saying, stranger things have happened:xf.wink:

Ask me how I plan on making .online famous:xf.smile:

Blah blah.

No one cares. Put up actual results and people might care.

The great thing about .com is you don't need a sales pitch.

I'm slowly starting to hate the complete .online TLD for another reason, and that's the continuous self-promotion by 1 member in these threads.

Sorry...just the FACT that you're here challenging me is very encouraging. Did you go to NamesCon.online?
I own a few names like BankCon.online for a bankers conference, BizCon.online for a business conference and even HealthCon.online for a healthcare conference. You know I've been to bankers conferences and healthcare conferences with buinesses I've owned, but I've never been to them Online. What do you think?
It looks like Covid has been a real boom for anything sold Online.

Sorry to see you go....we'll miss you:xf.frown:

Brad, in the big scheme of things it really doesn't matter what you or I think. What matters is the cold hard fact, that .com is not only running out of inventory, and the inventory available is a lot full of over priced Ferrari's that even you can't afford. Me, i drive a Pinto and it gets me where I want to go:xf.smile:

WetWater (com) is allready taken.

:xf.laugh:
You must think I want you to buy .online domains? When .com isn't available for all sorts of reasons I look out for my customers anyway I can. I know you can't wait and either can I. Do you ever do any traveling? DiscoverSpace.online was available, so before I become one of the first civilians in Space I thought I first i would DiscoverSpace.online. What do you think?

Well then, good luck.
Thanks Spex....i learn something new everywhere I go. I was looking at your porfolio at Dan and when I saw your price tag for MarsExploration I just had to pick up a few .online domains that use keywords like "Explore" and "Discover" associated with Mars since we have satellites headed there now. I also was able to pick up Catch22.online that covers paradoxical situations like we see in the domain industry. Thanks for joining us and Good Luck to you too!

Now we're talking ReallyBigIdea. I have a west coast partner aka Digital Roar, and he's currently developing a few booty domains. Since we met about 60 days ago I've registered HomeMadeBooty.com for him to possibly develop and BootyTime.online and BootyContest.online. When left of the dot rhymes with right of the dot like in BootyTime.online you get a lot of peoples attention. After all, who doesn't like Booty:xf.smile:

Moving on, I also just registered Breakthru.Online whereas Beakthru.com is valued at $15,897 by Go Daddy and $300,000 by Nameworth. Don't believe me? Check it out. I just went and checked the TM status for Breakthru and there are literally hundreds of technology ideas where Breakthru® could qualify for a registered trademark. On a more serious note, how do you like Breakthru.Online as compared to Reservations.Online or Whistleblower.Online? I really feel as though I know what I'm doing despite the 24/7 harassment and stalking I have to put up with from a select group of individuals.

If anyone would like to know my ideas/plans for how to sell .online domains, all you need to do is ask.

there will be hell to pay for the entire domain industry.

Are you able to elaborate on what you mean by this?

It's a bit concerning that you're asking for people's personal contact information and then making blanket threats against an entire industry.
