Rick Schwartz sold BestOdds.com for $3.6 MILLION

As he known as DomainKing He sold the domain bestodds.com for
3 6(1.8+1.8)M

1.8M would be the royalty and @estibot appraisal price was $730 and now it's showing even lower $530 .( Keeps changing)

Also he commented on estibot and other domain appraisal tools #fail #fake and #f¢ukedup .

Let's be honest, if any of us saw this on auctions today, how many would pay more than the estibot appraisal? Let alone 4, 5, 6, 7 figures as an end-user. Ridiculous. But it only takes one buyer who is in love with a name.

True but the value is always in the eyes of the buyer.

I may not give more than $10k for footballteams.com (not a fan of sports) but I'd give more than a million to acquire my LASTNAME.com (unfortunately I own the .co of it)

All in the eyes of the buyer...

The people doubting betting related domains should know that an average Joe pays $100/hour just to get a bot (that bets on his behalf) developed by a developer. It is an extremely profitable business. I have worked on a bot that just copies a bet from one account to another and was paid $75/hour. I checked his accounts and his weekly earnings were between -$2000 to $10,000 per account/website. That was just a copy bot.

If I had seen this name in an expiring drops list I would have probably passed over it. Phenomenal negotiation!!!
Wait i thought that's only something newbies would say lol. So we're not in a different boat! The pros from 2000s also get blindsided by these million-dollar sailz like Rise///Up?? :D

Congrats to @Rick Schwartz . Just read the post. My take away? Based on memory?

I will save in my brain.

1. make an effort to put buy now prices for domains in my portfolio and make sure you prices ones in different categories. I like how Schwartz says he does this to basically le buyers know they are on Rodeo Drive where nothing is cheap. So when we get an offer on domains we don’t have on our portfolio site or make offer. At least the buyer gets the idea they are not dealing in the “ cheap seats”

2. we don’t sell domains. We sell an idea.

3. domain prices are based on what the highest or lowest price a potential single item sale can be sold for on the domain.

4. A domain name is the intersection where the real world connects to the digital virtual world.

5. Domainers don’t sell domains. We sell ideas.

I'm pretty sure your sail was more impressive lol... i still think about it from time to time and even told my mom about it lol... $20, 2 years~... then $55,000........... like whoah.

I'm sure Rick Schwartz held this domain for like a decade before sailing or smth :tightlyclosedeyes: (and also he may have paid like $x,xxx for it?)

...but you literally did something miraculous...

SO ABOUT THIS LOL.... i thought bots were all not that great... i had no idea they were actually legit.

Was this crypto-related or just whatever gambling bot ? Which field?

We are only in January (start of the year), but feeling this could be the best sale of the year. I don't mean highest (hopefully there will be higher), what i mean by 'best' as in monstrous price for something which most of us would sell for mid-5 figures (or lower).

You have to give credit to Rick, there's no one who cheerleads the potential of domain names and prices people should ask for their assets more than him, and he backs his opinions up with actual sales.

I think this boards up well for 2021 and a reason why a digital presence is essential for businesses post-covid, covid as destroyed the high street and many businesses are now trading solely online (or looking to) and with that we could start seeing an even higher demand for domain names and quite a lot of high priced domain sales in the recovery from covid.

I hope someone didn't try to pull a fast one on him.
probably the buyer asked to remove it? I do see the domain is no longer going to his site so it looks like it all went through.

Could be the case, but as Rick stated earlier: "So when folks want non-disclosure I say no. No! NO! and NO again! Why? Because I am trying to establish a market. The sale has more benefits to me and the domain industry than just the dollars. Look at the story and take out all my sales. Some like Men.com and iReport.com were markers in the sand. Sales like that help to build the foundation for other sales."

He disclosed and it took off, at this point if the buyer wants it removed it doesn't really matter, its everywhere and the odds are you are never getting this info removed now from the web.

As long as @Rick Schwartz himself does not personally confirm here that he ...

... has indeed sold
his domain name (bestodds.com) for [amount in USD] with (or without) a discount (if, then with a discount in height of [amount in USD]) on [date of the happened sale] and that he
already got at least the half of the money (cash or delivered into his bank account (or crypto wallet)) from the buyer, I will not believe ...

... this thread's (absurd) claim (topic / first post).

Well estibot is not everything.a human decides the price..a robot can't value human feeling.

You don't know what i know.

If you really believe this thread's (absurd) claim (topic / first post) without getting it confirmed by Rick Schwartz himself, I really can't help you.

It is recommended to examine the food before eating.
