Hi guys,

A while ago I've deleted a domain name registered at porkbun. The problem is that I forgot to delist it from Afternic and now it has been bought by someone.

According to whois, the domain seems still "alive" and registered at porkbun with the same nameservers I had chosen when the domain was in my account.

I've contacted Porkbun customers support to ask if they can add again the domain to my account and I'm waiting for a reply.

Do you think that I may have chances of having it back?? My problem is not the money of the sale, but I don't want mess up with Afternic and the buyer.

The domain does not violate any TM and I've deleted it because I tought it was junk.

What can I do??

I think restoring is possible but you should better wait for Porkburn reply.

It takes a while for WhoIs at some registrars to update so that it still shows you as owner, if this is what you’re saying, is not necessarily relevant.

And new buyers sometimes leave the old nameservers and even the WhoIs contact email of the old owner intact. Sometimes for years, believe it or not.

What do you mean by deleted? You mean before it expired or you simply didn’t renew it?

I deleted it before the expiration date, the whois shows the domain pointing to my old nameservers buy typing the domain in the address bar it doesn't resolve to any website.
Many thanks for your help

Thanks to all. Luckily the domain was in a state where it was possible to restore it :)

Yeah. Domain deletion is not immediate @ porkbun. Afaik, their system simply removes the domain from an account in question and waits until natural expiration. Of course, it should be possible to manually finalize the process earlier (move the domain to RedemptionPeriod), and porkbun (as well as any other registrar) should be able to do this if requested. Good that you could restore the domain :)
