news GoDaddy's NameFind Acquires Another Portfolio

NameSilo
Watch
Domain consultant and researcher Jamie Zoch recently noticed that GoDaddy’s NameFind brand became the registrant of a sizable number of domain names, prompting speculation that GoDaddy had acquired another portfolio of domains.

The domain names that NameFind took possession of, according to Jamie, were previously registered to “Quality Hosting,” or “Cayman Web.”

Read the report on my blog.

What does GoDaddy do with these domains they acquire? Are they ever auctioned off as “expired”?

Sure, we shed the names that we don't like and let them go through the expiration cycle. When you buy as many as we do, there are plenty that don't end up being worth the renewal fee for us.

Thanks. I meant what is the main strategy for the good domains... do they get listed at Afternic with BINs? The reason I ask: I have bought so many domains over the years but never recall buying one from GoDaddy directly so just curious :)

These acquisitions usually find their way into GoDaddy's NameFind.com portfolio.

Yup, we firmly believe in the Afternic DLS network, so we put reasonable buynow prices on 90+% of our inventory. The best domains, one-word .coms etc, we put as make offer so that we can have more time to vet the offer and make a decision.

If only there were more companies like GoDaddy around the world,
I think the domain name industry would be better,
GD is not only a registrar,
But a very large domain name investment company,
This is not comparable to all registrars in China,
Registrars in China largely do not invest in domain names

Godaddy is one of the Best Registrar. Only if they provide Full Domain Privacy( and not Ultimate Privacy) at no extra cost would make it more affordable. Thanks.

Whois privacy is free at GoDaddy, so if you're just looking for privacy you're set.

Yes it has Basic Privacy free, I mean even Country and State should have free Privacy at no extra cost i.e. Full Domain Privacy should be free. It will be a real cost saving, for those who want to register more with tight Budget
Thank You.
