Domain name trends among startups are something that I like to track for a couple of reasons. Firstly, they’re a broad representation of end-users across different industries. Analyzing that data can help both domain investors and potential startup founders to see what’s popular in the wide world, although for very different reasons.

Secondly, the domain data is readily available to anyone with a Crunchbase Pro license.

Here, I’m using said Crunchbase data to show some domain trends from startups that have been founded in 2020...

Read the analysis on my blog.

Thanks, Nick. More to come!
Another site that might be of interest to you is https://www.eu-startups.com/directory

I browse through it every now to get similar info to what you wrote about (though I'm not as concise and thorough with my note taking!)

Not sure how it compares to Crunchbase in regards to search functionality/ease of use though

Look forward to the next one!

Feels like ngtlds may be here to stay. Large companies may spend a lot on a premium .com, but startups don't seem to mind using ngtlds, at least to launch.

i feel that startups launching on tlds like these
  • Slap – launched on slap.events
  • Cozy – launched on cozy.finance
  • Trace – launched on trace.tech
  • Blush – launched on blush.design
they are replacing startups launching on coms with suffix: TryXXXX.com , GetXXXXX.com......

Pretty sure they will look to acquire their matching .com when they get enough funds.
