Here is a great example, issued from a generic email address, and in usual GoDaddy etiquette, lacking even the courtesy of a contact name or a signature for such an important landmark event. This is how they notify Epik – two hours after the election was called for Joe Biden – that they will be terminating fast transfer inclusions over Afternic for any of Epik’s current and future registrar customers. Can you say anticompetitive behavior from a group in massive need of antitrust oversight as a monopoly? Epik can, and it is added to a rapidly growing list of unthinkable market behaviors that will be accounted for.

Let's not understate this: loss of Afternic is a major blow to Epik.

Many large account holders rely on the Afternic fast transfer network and its 75 million monthly views as an income stream.

Losing Afternic means Epik is no longer a viable choice for these account holders and I've already seen some jumping ship.

Instead of taking responsibility for whatever they did and trying to make amends and work with GoDaddy toward a resolution, Epik chose the way of denial, anger, attacks, and hate.

This is not a successful business model.

Epik must change its ways or it will soon disappear.

I don't have an account with Epik, for the reasons I'm going to speak about now, but I have mentioned it before, on NamePros it seems like every month we have a most popular (controversial) thread with 'Epik' in the title, everything from racism to covid, Epik are right in the thick of it and i think as a company they thrived off this and saw it as promotion.

You only have to look at Epik's wiki page to see words like 'nazi' 'extremist' 'far right' and things i dare not even type linked to the brand. I can see why companies such as PayPal/GoDaddy are distancing themselves from that. I might be wrong but personally i think the brand 'Epik' is tarnished beyond repair and if i was Rob i would seriously consider getting rid of the Epik brand and starting over again, do all the things that won Epik the best NamePros registrar but be less controversial.

Most endusers would never buy a domain name from Epik, and it's awesome that godaddy has removed that unethical option.
Beezy, stop projecting how hurt u are

Or... let’s not be so quick to cast judgement;
You’re not even typically Pro-GD; so can we take it easy please? Look forward actually hear @Rob Monster talk about it; if he does, thanks

They don't need a NamePros award. Their customers speak with their wallet.
That is why they have more market share than the next 10 registrars combined.

But that's for a lot of things Brad, not for they have the best registrar for a domain name investors. They have GoDaddy auctions so even those who hate them have an account there.

No offense, but Epik has been parading that award around like it means a lot more that it does.
They won with a smaller margin than employees that voted for them.

It doesn't really mean much.

Paypal ditched them. GoDaddy ditched them.
That actually matters.

They are still ranting about politics, monopolies, conspiracy theories, etc.

At this point it is like an irrelevant participation trophy. No one cares.

Oh I don't think the Namepros award means much so no offense taken. Let's keep it real there are few that are objective, I know I am, most are either people who hate and I am using the word hate, Epik or they hate GoDaddy.

I like managing domain names on Epik better than GoDaddy ( I use both)

I despise mentions of politics, religion, conspiracy, it makes me look to leave a business because I never wanted to hear my Mother and Father's political views I sure as hell don't want to hear a domain registrar's management.

I believe GoDaddy can drop whoever they like, I think there should be a reason why they dropped them. So as a client of both I understand why they are potentially negatively affecting my business.

Epik really needs a new PR team that can focus on the actual issues, and not turn everything into political rants and conspiracy theories.
What if it's not conspiracy theories but they're telling the true.

<< turn AUDIO ON for full reactionary effect(s) >>

Just a question. No accusations here.
Is epik somehow funding or advertising any of your blogs?

Because he's reached out to many pubicly here on namepros. At some point he even said @Paul Nicks was welcome to come work for epik when GD gets in trouble (or something like that). He also invited @Michael to come and collab on his 19 chapter book, before ranting him, and so on.

So,
Is epik your partner?
No offense, I dont see Rob missing on such an opportunity.

What if it's not conspiracy theories but they're telling the true.

It seems that the people with power have a great agenda. (Not so great for us :dead: )

I might believe that if it was one single person/entity/incident that is “out to get them” 🙄

In 3 short years they have had public fights with DAN, Escrow.com GoDaddy, PayPal, Wikipedia, Molly, all article writers anywhere, the GAB siuation, Rob’s questionable tweets about a tragedy, hair trigger temper of newer employee, etc etc etc. I have probably forgotten something.

The common denominator in all these situations is Epik. Its much more logical to see Epik courts trouble and plays victim and its not everyone else on the planet is out to get them. Epik is a small registrar and poses a threat to no one.

However everyone is free to follow conspiracy theories should they chose and I see some here do.

I prefer Epik take accountability which they never do. They haven’t even apologized/notified their customers about these recent losses of PayPal and now Afternic. Its all about them when it should be all about their customers.

I don't think GoDaddy can publicly disclose the details of this matter. No way.

However, Epik is probably free to share the details but isn't ready to. I'm sure they are aware of this thread.

For me, I don't need the details. I don't need the reason this happened. I just need to focus on what's best for my business. If I find the lack of PP and Fast Transfer to be too much, I'll just transfer my domains elsewhere. No hard feelings, just business. I can still wish the best for Epik but protect my business.

Four pages of posts on this thread and there is nothing to debate. Paypal terminated Epik. GoDaddy terminated Epik. There are already registrars that don't have fast transfer or paypal. I guess Epik goes in that category and people can decide to use them or not.

I am a bit surprised at how Epik shares these matters publicly and shares their responses publicy, yet customers don't get a simple professional email saying, "Good News, Epik Just Got More Secure!...blah, blah, blah" or something like that.

I hope Epik works things out with Paypal, GoDaddy and whoever else they feel are "out to get them". :)

Does Afternic accept push from Epik: In the past they would (unwillingly). now, I don't know.
I think Sedo doesn't accept pushes from Epik ( either).

I add prices to my domains at Afternic (when requested). And I check Godaddy to see whether my prices are shown to the public...not always. I complained about it once, customer service was extremely naive, and didn't even make any sense of what I said. Now I can't even search domains, I'm shown a walking man made of 2 legs and one arm, very annoying.

Question is : why is Epik their target, is Epik the second largest registrar: I don't think so.

BTW: Biden didn't win, in the same way Guadio didn't become the new president for Venezuella. It is the media, and deepstate leaders, who claim he is the new Potus.

Paypal keeps my money as well, and make it hard for me to withdraw my money. They show options, and all lead to errors.

How is this related to China. China is a peaceful country, but Chinese people insist on using Godaddy. If Epik wants to find ways to compete with Godaddy, it should do business with China.

I'm fairly new to all of these registrars and am wondering if anyone has the bottom line on this. Should I avoid Epik? Should I avoid GoDaddy?

IMO, there are other registrars that are superior. I personally like Dynadot and Namesilo most, but there are other really good ones out there.

No change for me , except that I was planning to use AN fast transfer, now probably not worth the effort, because I would have to check which domains are at Epik, which ones are elsewhere.

Names could still be visible to people searching to register names on godaddy if listed on godaddy auctions, but sale would require regular transfer instead of fast transfer. Most of my names are listed this way as make offer but does this require the user to have a GD auction account to make the purchase if a BIN price is set?

Maybe GoDaddy didn't appreciate Epik constantly attacking them.

Maybe they didn't appreciate being dragged into their dispute with Paypal, which had nothing to do with them.

Or, maybe it was the doxxing of employee information in a completely irrelevant manner.

Maybe it was another reason, who knows.

Either way, since Rob and Epik are such a proponent of free speech, it cuts both ways.
GoDaddy is a private company and can choose who they want to do business with.

Brad
Correction for you....Godaddy is a public company ....it has been traded on NYSE :)
