Atom marketplace (formerly Squadhelp Marketplace)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I think your dashboard should show where the sale orginated. From what we have heard some sellers (top tier) get to list their names on Efty and SH. I disagree SH should get credit for all sales. There is Efty, SH, WLM, Afternic, Flippa etc?

I think it would be very useful to know which platform the sale originated at. Its a very muddy picture of how sales are actually happening. And direct type in which frankly is the most likely sale isn’t even accounted for either.

@GrantP
I will like to purchase some names from the wholesale marketplace using my account balance. Currently, there's no option to do that on the payment page - just credit card and Paypal. I asked SH support and they said I can't do that. I can use my account balance to buy coins, why not names?

I understand not allowing people to use coins to purchase domains from the wholesale marketplace because coins are coins. But my account balance is real money that I'm unable to use. There's no other registrar/marketplace with an Account Fund/Balance option where you can't use that balance to purchase things on the same marketplace.

Can we get this option enabled?

This has now been enabled. There's now a small checkbox above the Buy Now button to deduct from Account Balance.

It has been there earlier too. Maybe you experienced a temporary bug.
Maybe @GrantP can clarify that because SH support told me there was no such option earlier today. His exact words: "We currently don't have an option to use your account balance for domain purchases in the Wholesale Marketplace."

SH support not always knows what features are available. There have been times when I was the one to inform them about a new feature by providing a link to SH forum thread or helpdesk page or simply a screenshot of what I see :)

Is it possible to set the "Featured Rank" of Premium Domains displayed in WLM's Home Page just like in the option for Standard Listings?

I wish it was possible to select what is shown in the "Popular domains" section of our WLM from all items in our portfolio (premium and standard).

Their awful behavior and stupidity has reached new highs today.. Or is it just me?

Here is what happened, I had a name on sale, 0NE with leading 0, the description literally in the first sentence explains its 0, not O, hence the pricetag $30k, and not $3m. Anyhow, there were some inquiries and recently purchased.
Buyer paid, requested auth code from me, and during the process he discovered that it's 0, not O. The dude was so rushing to buy a name worth $3m for $30k that he did not bother to read description :xf.rolleyes:

Well, stuff happens, but SH reached out to me saying they will not be relisting this name and banning it from Marketplace because it's confusing. You freaking serious?? People can't read plain English and use common sense on $30k+ name and they punish me instead of those people??

"Unfortunately we will no longer be able to list this domain back into our Marketplace. Even though the description states that this name includes a zero, the name itself is confusingly similar to One.com and this has led to an ongoing issue with several buyers. While we do not make such decisions lightly, the integrity of our brand and marketplace is extremely important and in this situation unfortunately the risk of misunderstanding is extremely high."

Integrity of our brand? Like wth.. How do I endanger integrity of their brand ? O_o

Frustrating and disappointing, but I wouldn't put it in the category of "awful" or "stupid".

If multiple prospects have been deceived, it's understandable that SH would want to de-list the domain so it doesn't create further conflict or confusion.

Just as BB has removed domains that had been listed for months or years if there were spelling errors they didn't catch up front.

It is strange SH is still listing other premium domains with a 0. But maybe buyers haven't been as confused by those.

0 // n // e is still a cool domain and you should be able to sell it elsewhere, @Coindoji

I'm sorry to hear this has happened to you, but just like @DomainBanana said, I wouldn't put it in the category of "awful" or "stupid". I completely understand their reasoning. Even though this domain name is great, it is confusing. And the biggest mistake I think is made by logo designer. The designer should have made it obvious in the logo that it is 0, not O, because the current logo makes it look like One instead of 0ne and that causes confusion.

Yes, the buyer should have carefully read the description, but if English is not their first language they might have misunderstood the part explaining that it's 0 instead of O.

Today I noticed that I can't get past page 10 in category pages of SH marketplace (i.e. https://www.squadhelp.com/premium-domains-for-sale/all/categories/Health & Wellness/page/10)

I thought it's a bug so I blue-buttoned it and learned that for general categories they are only showing up to 10 pages. Now I don't know how I feel about that. I understand that many potential buyers won't go past page 10, but how about those tenacious/curious ones that would go? If contest holders can go through 1500, 2000 and sometimes even 3000 names, why potential buyers can't?

Now if Health & Wellness has 10501 names listed under that category, roughly 90% of them are not accessible by simply choosing that category and going page by page. It's even more fun with Agency & Consulting category which has 18410 names listed. That makes what ... roughly 95% inaccessible through that category?

I just hope this decision was made by carefully analyzing the behavior of buyers and/or has other benefits ....

And maybe I should reconsider current primary categories for some of my names

I agree with you. I dont see any good reason to limit browsing to 10 pages only.

The explanation is very poorly worded in that it blames you. They accepted and priced the name and they gave it a deceptive logo not you. It should be something they acknowledge blame on and not make it sound like you are to blame. At least you still have the name and can list elsewhere minus huge commish.

@GrantP are you able to share updated stats on above comparison? interesting to see how it has changed.

Keep in mind that most SH traffic is repeat visits from the thousands of SH creatives competing in contests.

And there's a large share of traffic from people doing naming contests, not buying domains

So just looking at the traffic stats of SH (contests, taglines, logos, etc. + domains) vs. other marketplaces who do 100% domain sales isn't an accurate comparison of interested domain buyers.

Also, SH's monthly traffic has been declining every month over the past 6 months. It used to be around 1.5 million and has dipped below 1 million over the past three months.

And the numerous sellers probably checking newly listed names all the time another source.

As I said ...and I wouldn't be surprised if BB got more members ...I suppose you got google search to support that ...but before you speak on a company understand the basics
