Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

One thing is for sure...things will get worse before they get better.

'Play it down': Trump admits to concealing the true threat of coronavirus in new Woodward book

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump admitted he knew weeks before the first confirmed US coronavirus death that the virus was dangerous, airborne, highly contagious and "more deadly than even your strenuous flus," and that he repeatedly played it down publicly, according to legendary journalist Bob Woodward in his new book "Rage."

"This is deadly stuff," Trump told Woodward on February 7.

In a series of interviews with Woodward, Trump revealed that he had a surprising level of detail about the threat of the virus earlier than previously known. "Pretty amazing," Trump told Woodward, adding that the coronavirus was maybe five times "more deadly" than the flu.

It's hard to understand how Trump could stand by and let so many people lose their lives and livelihoods. I guess he thought dealing with it head on would reflect badly on him.

Possible. Although I do not agree with his 'tack' at the beginning, I do believe he had a misguided sense of protection in mind.

Data I saw at the start of this was frightening and there is no doubt he was getting daily briefing with similar info. It was unclear in the early stages if this (covid19) was an accident, a one off attack or the beginning of a salvo. I have come to the conclusion it was an intentional release and in time I think all of the data that supports this position will be released. I've been told that for the first time since the start of the cold war, China is almost always included in the first few sentences of daily updates. I've been told that as of this moment, China is considered enemy number 1 primarily due to cyber attacks and data breaches...their military build up icing on the cake. Initially very much aligned with Russia with their disdain for America, it is becoming clear that there is a move within the Chinese government to push out to former boundaries. Russia will likely move back into position number 1 when the election is over...only time will tell. One thing to keep at the front of all critical thinking on this issue is the old saying "the enemy of my enemy is my friend".

Sorry I got off track! This pandemic has so many facets...intentional or not, they are being used in all manner of subversive activities.

Millions of tests being used, similar in function to the one described below, will be commonplace. They will be used before being allowed entry to some functions...even before going on that first date with someone. For the next couple of years, I think it will be a common site to see someone 'swabbing' in public. Of course, I could be wrong.

Adults with Covid-19 about 'twice as likely' to say they have dined at a restaurant, CDC study suggests

(CNN)Adults who tested positive for Covid-19 were approximately twice as likely to have reported dining at a restaurant in the 14 days before becoming ill than those who tested negative, according to a new study from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

There were no significant differences between those who tested positive versus negative when it came to shopping, gathering with fewer than 10 people in a home, going to an office, going to a gym, going to a salon, using public transportation or attending religious gatherings, according to the study.

However, people who tested positive, the data showed, were more likely to have reported dining at a restaurant in the two weeks before they started to feel sick.

Critical thinking on the issue is suggesting to me "The enemy of my enemy is my pawn" seems to be more the reality. As to who better plays the other....

Within the next 48 hours we (in America) will reach the 200,000 dead benchmark. There will be many more over the next year or two that will succumb the this strain of SARS...my prayer is for those who have lost loved ones and those that are long haulers find comfort and peace.

Senior scientists question Shycocan Corona Canon device

Just following up on earlier article about the Shycocan Corona Canon that I was rather sceptical about a couple of months ago.

It appears that a number of scientists are also questioning the claims by the inventor.

"There is no scientific evidence for any of the things that they have claimed. Many of the points they have stated are absolutely wrong in terms of physics...."

"It is being marketed already. Actually it is a dangerous thing to do unless it is validated because people will get a false sense of security and people will become careless and think that this device will protect them...."

"“Hypercharged electron”, “charged photon”—why hasn’t this person got a Nobel in physics yet?”

"“There is a program in the US FDA called breakthrough device where if your device fits a certain criteria it will be allowed to accelerate trials. These people claimed that the US FDA has given them a certificate that their device is a breakthrough device – which is fraudulent. It is very confusing and a lot of people have criticized the confusing name of this program of FDA,” the patent analyst said."

How the Coronavirus Attacks the Brain

The coronavirus targets the lungs foremost, but also the kidneys, liver and blood vessels. Still, about half of patients report neurological symptoms, including headaches, confusion and delirium, suggesting the virus may also attack the brain.

A new study offers the first clear evidence that, in some people, the coronavirus invades brain cells, hijacking them to make copies of itself. The virus also seems to suck up all of the oxygen nearby, starving neighboring cells to death.

Face masks could be giving people Covid-19 immunity, researchers suggest
If this hypothesis is borne out, the academics argue, then universal mask-wearing could become a form of variolation (inoculation) that would generate immunity and “thereby slow the spread of the virus in the United States and elsewhere” as the world awaits a vaccine.

https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp2026913

Interesting but vaccines are inherently less dangerous than actual infections. Variolation/ inoculation became obsolete when safe vaccines were developed. Variolation still makes people contagious to others.

I think FDA should come up with some clear guidelines on that classification. So misleading for common man.

Totally agree of course. But what the article says, is that by wearing a face mask you reduce the amount of virus amount that enters into your body (if it finally enters through your mask) and so the covid disease is less powerful or even assypmtomatic.

From the article https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp2026913

"...the severity of disease is proportionate to the viral inoculum received."

"...an additional hypothesized reason for wearing facial masks would be to reduce the viral inoculum to which the wearer is exposed and the subsequent clinical impact of the disease. Since masks can filter out some virus-containing droplets (with filtering capacity determined by mask type), masking might reduce the inoculum that an exposed person inhales. If this theory bears out, population-wide masking, with any type of mask that increases acceptability and adherence, might contribute to increasing the proportion of SARS-CoV-2 infections that are asymptomatic."

I wonder if we really want more asymptomatic cases vs obvious cases?
Even if less severe to the carrier, it may not be so for the people who are unwittingly infected by the asymptomatic carrier.
