DAN.COM (formerly known as Undeveloped.com) is on a path to be become the biggest domain marketplace in the world. We use state of the art technology to solve everyday problems buyers and sellers in the domain industry face. At DAN.COM we focus on automating most processes required to buy & sell domains to increase a more efficient and active secondary market for domains.

What sets us apart is our strong focus on product development and customer satisfaction. We leave nothing to chance and every single feature and element we introduce is professionally and carefully designed and built.

DAN.COM is ranked in the top 5 best-rated marketplaces in the world (According to the biggest review platform Trustpilot) and in the domain industry, we're the domain marketplace with the highest rating with an average of 9,4 out of 10 points.

At DAN.COM you will get the highest value for the lowest commission around. Due to our domain transfer automation, we can offer significantly faster handling of domain transactions and payouts (usually within 24 hours) at the lowest fee charged by any domain marketplace.

We've been the first on many fronts and proudly will continue to keep innovating. We were the first to offer optimized for sale pages since 2013, the first to provide payment plans in the form of lease to own and rentals and also the first and only domain marketplace offering free SSL on all domains parked with us for over a year now.

This thread is created to act as an informal communication board between the DAN team and the domain community. Feel free to post feedback here and to discuss how you use DAN.

What this thread is not meant for is support. Please contact our support team here: [email protected] when you need assistance.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Seems like the same product to me. One is 4%, the other is 9%.

Why stay at 4%? Start a new, understaffed service with a buggy interface, zero reputation and slow internal processes, charge only 1% and then ask others to immediately follow.

Why would you think the payment gateway, I have had a few on Epik backout so it's not always about the payment gateway.

There's a Namepros member which works now exclusively with Epik that's been posting daily about us having payment issues to get those sellers to Epik. Most Namepros members that follow this thread, know who we're referring to. This weekend on Linkedin a seller mentioned joining DAN, and before you know it the person in question pops up rehashing the same message and inviting Epik to chip in and board that seller.

We use the payment processor that the biggest companies in the world use to make payment collectien easier, not harder. However, when processing thousands of transactions a month for various reasons a buyer can opt to not complete a payment and our payment processor is getting the blame for it.

Ebay for example recently dropped Paypal for Adyen (Paypal is their own payment processor) but still, some keep rehashing that there are payment issues at DAN to promote another competing marketplace.

These actors ignore the fact that we process thousands of transactions smoothly and all sellers with a sizeable portfolio observe that they sell more via DAN when they switch to us but rumors spread faster than truths nowadays.

Is Dan going to match Sav 4% commission rate?

Hi,

SAV used to be a DAN seller and we are aware that they now have launched a copy cat service. But do read the finer letters like not getting chargeback protection for that commission.

At DAN we offer more service and features than any domain marketplace out there while charging a very low commission for that that we deliver. So we already offer our service at a very small margin, going lower than our current margin makes no sense for us or the future roadmap of DAN.

Don't forget, the commission we make we re-invest fully in DAN. The less commission we make, the longer it will take for us to improve our service for you.

We have a long term strategy that we execute on, so we don't take "companies" like SAV too serious since we're already working hard on making DAN 2.0 a reality.

Does anyone know how to get .app names to work with Dan landing pages? It seems that simply changing nameservers to NS1.DAN.COM / NS2.DAN.COM and adding the domain to your Dan account with price, is not enough. Browsers still won't display the domain.

Hi Nat,

We support .app domains, I suspect something else might go wrong here. Please raise a ticket for our support team so we can ask one of our developers to review the situation and to come up with a solution.

@LaszloSchenk @DAN.COM

Just registered a domain name and tried to add to DAN portfolio. Was unable to because another DAN user already had the domain in their DAN portfolio, domains for sale. The other user let the domain expire but DAN still has it as an active domain for sale.

One of the best things about DAN is the ease and speed of being able to add domains and set prices in DAN portfolio without jumping through hoops with adding DNS records or other time consuming verification methods. However, I imagine there must be many cases like mine where another DAN user who no longer owns the domain still has it in their DAN portfolio.

Is there a good solution to this?

Thanks

Hi Maxxo,

You can automatically verify that you are the new owner of the domain by using our verification system here:

Completely useless for customers who dont use your dns.
a TXT record, a file or a meta would be needed in that case... epik, daaz, sav works like that...

We get that, however, most sellers use our DNS. We've mentioned this before here, A record and TXT record verification is also planned for later.

using a marketplace dns is a big error :
- you cannot switch easily
- you cannot list your domains else where
- you cannot receive emails
- you cannot records traffic data properly
- ...

It was announced on September 30, 2014, that eBay would spin off PayPal into a separate publicly traded company, a move demanded in 2013 by activist hedge fund magnate Carl Icahn. The spin-off was completed on July 18, 2015.[49][50][51] Dan Schulman is the current President and CEO, with former eBay CEO John Donahoe serving as chairman.[48] On Jan 31, 2018 eBay announced that, "After the existing eBay-PayPal agreement ends in 2020, PayPal will remain a payment option for shoppers on eBay, but it won’t be prominently featured ahead of debit and credit card options as it is today. PayPal will cease to process card payments for eBay at that time." The company will "instead begin working with Amsterdam-based Adyen."[52]

I see that I have very few sales these days on dan, while it's not on afternic.

I made a small survey and I see that number of sales is decreasing week after week since one month, now it seems it's around -50% of what it was 2 months ago.

I know you decided to avoid sales at less than $99

@DAN.COM have you made any other change ?

@DAN.COM

would be nice to commend that

As a seller, you have 3 options on how to handle VAT and where in the customer journey you show the VAT when likely applicable (we check the IP of the buyer and the settings of the seller to determine this):

upload_2020-8-18_15-38-43.png

If you select price includes VAT, when VAT is applicable the buyer will see the VAT added after checkout step 1.

However, this is not the best model for conversion. If you are an EU seller, working with the option "Price excludes VAT" works best. The reason why we designed the original model where we show the likely charged VAT on the lander is because buyers never like surprises.

If you surprise them with added VAT in a later stage, they might drop out and you might lose a sale. That's why our team built that feature that way, to avoid that situation from happening.

We base all decisions on data and the experience we have as the payment collecter in all this. However, as indicated above, we give sellers the freedom to sell the way they want.

@DAN.COM

Your search bar is showing some less popular extensions in front.
From india, Who would care a .la or .eco or .nl or .eu.
Lot of keywords showing .nl or .nu or .eu on top.
As a buyer why would i buy these extensions from india.
May be you should reconsider your search bar algo.
Please give equal importance to all the extensions.

Please let us know if DAN is only meant for European extensions and .com. We will move away without disturbing you.

Does Dan have any partnerships with other domain registrars or marketplaces to give listings more exposure?

Dan has been really easy to use for me and fast payment..though my last sale failed...
The acceptance of an offer wasn't clear..mistakes were easily made and i'm not sure what stopped buyer from completing...

Some seller has been adding all the expired .xyz domains to their account.
What would be their motive behind this?

Maybe similar:
https://www.namepros.com/threads/regystro-net-who-are-these-clowns.1203887/
in particular,

Must be also one of the reasons why we see too many ownership conflicts trying to add our daily routine acquisitions to Afternic or Dan: folks are listing redemption / pendingdelete / pre-release domains on these platforms, where litte or no ownership control exists, trying to make their solicitations (make us an offer!) looking more legitimate. I have seen the following many times - domain dropped and acquired by myself, as per its history, it had a live enduser powered website (10 years, 20 years) - so the previous owner obviously was not a domainer - but the domain is already on Dan or Afternic.
