GDD Closeout and Auction Renewal

I am getting $17 renewal in GDD Auctions and closeouts.
And I can't find a coupon field somehow either.

What are you paying for GDD closeout renewals?
How do I get a good rate?

I have GoDaddy's Discount Club .. it costs a little under $100 a year (when you use a coupon) and with it you pay $8.49 for renewals and handreg .. so a $5 closeout costs you $5+$8.49 = $13.49

Otherwise you can use the link in my signature to get 30% most things at GoDaddy.

I often wonder how many more closeouts GD would sell if they did not require a $100+ "club' membership to get a competitive rate, especially for those outside the US. SAV, NameSilo, Epik, Porkbun, Dynadot offer essentially the same rate without needing to pay for an annual membership. I think it is possible that GD could ultimately make more by enticing some into the closeout stream before they have enough domain names that the discount club membership makes sense, or alternatively offer a beginner rate that gives you auction membership and discounts on up to 20 names or something, like a tiered membership fee.

For a buy now that says something like
Buy it now price
$10*
$10.00 USD
(+$19.99 USD/yr renewal)

Your link will give 30% off 29.99?

30% of 17 is is still like 13?? I think I would need to do the Discount club. 8.49 is cheaper than a lot of other registrars I guess, right??

And what is the closeouts that say 5+7.99 one time transfer fee?
What is a transfer fee and don't we pay renewal on those?? (See This Link)

There are no coupons that ever give you a discount on the "auction" or "aftermarket" portions. But the renewal portion is not classified as either, so you should get the coupon applied if it qualifies.

So on your example

$10 closeout + $20 renewal would end up being ..
$10 closeout + $14 renewal

Long term if you buy a lot of domains it's better to go DDC .. but if you're just getting a couple, or you can't afford to put out ~$90-100 for DDC .. then using a 30% coupon is better than nothing.

30% is of course good. I meant to say 8.49 seems like a great deal when you compare to other popular registrars I mean

I am in Europe and have to pay "taxes and fees". (I don't know about US customers)

All in all, I won a 10 euro auction last week... ended up paying 36 euro :xf.eek:

Something to take into account when I check for closeouts.
