Hello everyone,

It’s been a great year in terms of getting lot of surprises. Some in a good way and some not so good…

The last couple of months before July were absolutely great and full of surprises and July was no doubt was another unexpected month but in a different way which I never want to have it. LOL

This is the seventh post of the Afternic experiment series after I published January, February, March, April, May and June results which I’m hopeful that you’ll find it interesting.

It was the worst month in terms of number and amount of sales this year at Afternic by just having 3 domain sales. Also with the biggest gap between sales and I was a bit upset to see no sales for so many days continuously which was an eye opener for me. This confirmed my long term set goal where I want to increase my portfolio with a few more thousands of domain to get rid of this inconsistency and I believe this will happen with the addition of at least 2,000 more domains added with the current 4,050 domains.

The first sale happened on 17th July of SolutionStack.com for $2,988 via Afternic sales lander.

Second was a big relief in the shape of TheFg.com for $9,888. Both of these sales were via BIN. This one was sold via GoDaddy.com

The last sale of Home-Comfort.com for $2,500 via GoDaddy lander and actually happened on 1st August (Malaysia time) but according to Afternic report and their timing, this took place on 31st July. Home-Comfort.com was having $2,988 BIN but after negotiation, I eventually agreed to sell for $2,500 to keep things moving.

Total number of inquiries received were little under 550.

On the other hand, my friend Muhammad Aamir from DotCorner was happy to share once again his July sales which are shared below:

KingNetwork.com for $4,000 and HappyMusic.com for $6,500.

I’ve seen July was slowest month for many domain investors including myself and Muhammad Aamir. But there were some investors who shared with me of July as their best month of this year. It’s good to see overall things are in a good shape for domain investing.

I hope this August will be a better month than last one and wish everyone the very best 🙂

Feel free to give your feedback no matter how good or good it is 😉

Congrats for your sales. July was slow for me also in terms of number of sales and inquiries, compare to my average of 12 just 5 sales (although 6th sale happened on 31st july night but somehow payment still pending so not counting) but on flip side average selling price was around 3130 which is higher than usual. Afternic where i keep having minimum 5 sales every month, last month just had two sales there. I too heard from some that how july was among the best for them in terms of sales, here is wishing august turns out great for every domain investor alike.

Congrats for those 3 sales! Although less sales than previous months, they are still good ones! Especially the TheFg.com one!
What made you buy this one? It has been bought by a Food company taking the FG as acronym of their name.

Congratulations @AbdulBasit.com on the sales and thanks for sharing the details.

Have you done similar experiment with Sedo MLS? What is your experience between Afternic and Sedo as both has good registrar and reseller network.

Congratulation bro for the sales you’ve done (y)

It’s a scary and worrying feeling for us domainers whom we have portfolios under 500 domains ! when we hear that Abdulbasit feel disturbed from sales inconsistency While he has above 4000 domains ! Lol

So the more domains a person has the more chance to get sales , I always believed domaining business is 70% a numbers game , and ofcorse with owning a medium + good quality domains , not rubbish ones .

Thanks for sharing your recent sales experience. It seems that overall the sales at Afternic were on the slower side.

Your average selling price is impressive and hope that would've made your July a decent month.

Thanks dear.

It can be used for many purposes like Financial Group, Future Generation, 5 G/Five G (5G), Anything with F word and ending with group and other keywords. As of now, the site is up and buyer is Foodware Group (FG) like you already mentioned.

Thank you!

With all of my domains at Uniregistry, I don't think of having any option to opt-in for Sedo MLS.

Having sales via Sedo is like once in a blue moon :xf.laugh:

As far as I can recall, I've sold only 1 domain via Sedo this year.

I totally agree with you about domain business is a numbers game. There are many who says it's ALL about quality but I believe in having both QUALITY as well as QUANTITY at the same time if one is willing to run a full time domain business. Last month's inconsistency of sales (in terms of huge gap of no sale) was evident that quantity is lacking if I need to have more frequent sales. Though I believe of having good quality of domains but just need to have at least 2,000 more to get rid of inconsistency.

Congrats on the sales and thanks for sharing.

As for inconsistencies, that's to be expected considering the times we are in.

Any specific reason as to keeping all your names at Uniregistry?

With 4K names, I would expect you to move your domains quite a bit to avail Transfer Promos from different registrars.

Or am I missing something?

Apart from afternic... what Godaddy lander are you referring to?

I've tried numerous registrars and so far the best UI and some other features I've liked is of Uniregistry.

I'm okay with moving out to a different registrar for 1 year period but the promo has to be for unlimited .com transfers and cost should be max $5 per domain for me to think of moving out. Too much time required in all this as we all know.

Thanks Rory!

Afternic lander means the buyer came and bought the using from ns3/ns4 lander.
GoDaddy lander means the buyer went through GoDaddy and acquired the domain.

Hopefully things get better. Can you guys share feedback on the effect of COVID19 on the market in general? Same, better or worse? Thank you

I can't say with any authority due to lack of data at hand but overall things have slowed down for sure in terms of domain sales. But no doubt overall sales will be back to normal very soon.

After your sale and this explanation I see people running to expireddomains and domain generators, checking if there's any theLL.com domain left :D

Already I see "The" + keyword domains are flying high in auctions and may be I'm one of the reason :xf.laugh: in this for sharing my several "The" keyword domains for last many years

Followup question: I see that you have your own domain marketplace at domainsweb.... is it worth it? Do sales ever happen like this? and how often?

I have launchup.com on shopify and considering switching to gotbrands.com using squad help. But not sure this way results in sales. Any feedback or advice would help?

In terms of sales, no use until now for last many years. But I still like to put up my portfolio and keep updated (which isn't updated right now) mainly for showcasing.

It depends on your brand, marketing and efforts in utilizing your domain marketplace. Some investors use their own marketplace and landers to sell their domains but I don't like that way as I want to get maximum exposure for my domains in order to sell them.

Thanks for sharing.
I think it depends on the quality of domains as well and I think you've some nice one's. All in all, I believe both quantity as well as quantity matters to keep things moving smooth.

@abdulbasit congrats! I think you should have a minimum BIN threshold on your domains - let say starting with $4888, of course, there could be few exceptions.
