NameLiquidate.com Liquidation Platform (Official Thread)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
NameLiquidate.com is a liquidation platform for domainers, registrars, and wholesale buyers of domains. The market was carefully crafted from an idea on Dec. 3rd 2019 - Completed within 30 days, and has been a work-in-progress since.

You can read the origins of this idea and the subsequent discussions that took place between December 3 2019 to March 8 2020.
https://www.namepros.com/threads/do...m-seeking-input-for-new-epik-project.1166450/

We hope to further develop this liquidation market to help domain investors recover precious capital for other renewals or reinvestments. Our intention is to capitalize on the underutilized and often ignored, expiry stream. Those domains which eventually end up in the hands of big domain houses for resale, with no compensation to the previous registrant/owner.

You will see regular updates and notifications on this thread.

Personal note from @DanSanchez: My original intent was to help expiring domains become more liquid and to pass on the capital back to the original registrant at Epik. Since it's inception, NameLiquidate has evolved into a full liquidation platform for new, expiring, and aged domains. I hope to see participation here, questions and doubts will also be welcomed.

My future goal is to invite more registrars to send their expiry stream through NameLiquidate, compensate their previous registrants, and to foster a cooperative attitude for long-term relationships.

Please contact support here, by DM, or via our support chat at Epik.

i'd like to start a thread here on np external sales. i tried copying and hyperlinking 'nameliquidate/selling' from the search bar but that only works when i'm signed in. the link that sedo provides works whether i'm signed in or not. i was wondering if nameliquidate provides a similar link?

I'm sorry but a couple of the new changes are a little irritating.

For example, the super short login session keeps logging me out way too soon so I'm constantly having to login again.

For me I do lots of searches which require additional research. After returning from doing each research, I have to login again.

Plus, having to hit Apply to every field change in filters is a royal pain. Why not allow 1 Apply when the user wants???

Are you on mobile or desktop? I only use desktop, and despite the fact that the Apply button appears I find you can just click 'Search' once you have entered the required parameters. No need to hit Apply every time. Not sure if it's different on mobile though...

I'd like to know if we can use TransferWise (a "wire transfer" route) to take money out as well as to pay money in. It's by far the cheapest option and, so I'm told, very quick.

Sold a domain on liquidate this week but unable to withdraw from the revised masterbucks site. Anybody know why? Emailed support yesterday.

Edit: Rob took care of it.

No, there's ACH, wire transfer, paypal, and crypto
Then please explain the difference between TransferWise and wire transfer?

Wire Transfer is transfer of funds from one bank to another bank while TransferWise.com is a Paypal type company to send and recieve money internationally.

FYI looks like you can now search NameLiquidate domains on ExpiredDomains.net, should be helpful in finding good names as they have much more robust filters than NL does directly.

I signed up for a TransferWise account precisely because it is set up to transfer funds from one bank account to another internationally. High street bank charges to do that are far too high and Paypal, whilst cheaper, is not cheap. Nor is that Paypal's main purpose in life.

Money transfers between bank accounts within one country these days tend to be either very cheap or free if conducted online. There is no need for either Paypal or or a wire transfer company to act as intermediary.

During an online chat with a member of Epik's support team I discovered that TransferWise is Epik's preferred partner for wire transfers. It turns out we can use it in either direction, i.e. to add money into our Epik account or to withdraw money from it, which is the information I was asking for in my first post above.

Yep, you can definitely use it. I always use it to deposit funds to my account, and have also used it for withdrawing from Masterbucks. Quick, and much cheaper than wire transfer to a traditional bank account.

Wow, Federated Identity the new login process has definitely improved logging in over all of Epik/NameLiquidate websites.

Well done to the Epik team.

I just found some time to have a scroll through NameLiquidate.com for the first time in a few weeks. I've bought on there before and quite liked it.

Not now. It's no longer about liquidation. Reverse auction? OK, of sorts. But the limits and BINs are, quite frankly, a piss take on the original concept.

Just another auction. With or without the twist, nothing to see here.

It's quite effective at creating "fear of missing out" some sellers have figured it out. It is exactly what the original concept calls for. Fixed cost opportunities for buyers and maximum capital recovery for sellers. Check the bargain section if you are looking for a straight liquidation experience. But if you're waiting for $9 names to roll around, you are going to miss all the A+ deals.

Thanks, it is the dev team implementing some insane features in a matter of days that needs recognition. They were able to onboard a complex infrastructure without major issues. They worked through the weekend to diagnose small instances that needed their attention. It's another reflection of Epik's desire to never stop innovating and delivering value.

Big update today with the new NameLiquidate UI, it is most noticeable on mobile devices. A considerable improvement that will streamline usability for more than 50% of our traffic. This would all be an idea on a piece of paper if it weren't for the community, Epik family, and the talented engineers leading the way.

More exciting news coming for portfolio holders and buyers. If you want to liquidate a number of domains as a portfolio, please reach out to me!

It's not really bad. I've just bought at a couple of pips below present price and added in a couple of chancers at $9 which may or may not come off. That's all fine. But it's not the "get in quick" low end, plus opportunity to buy still cheap but NameLiquidate higher end that was. Or maybe it is but it doesn't have that "feel" any more.

Bear in mind also, my comment is on current state. It's a moving target so as it gets refined I could come around more. Or less. The posts are just my twopennyworth (pron. tuppennerth on the English side of the pond) as the development develops. Perhaps more, good or bad, to come ;)

There is refinement going on daily, I agree it is a moving target. My goal is to better the quality of inventory being listed, perhaps that means being more .COM centric and highlighting the no-reserve liquidations.

You have to remember that we have NEVER had such a channel before. The users today are forging a path that will bring relative stability to our market. If anything, every $9 domain we sell is one step closer to having a reliable liquidation channel. Every industry has been forced to develop such a channel, except us. Every business is now facing excess inventory, we are certainly not exempt.

My logical next question is WHY has there been nothing built? The incentive is small, nobody is going to get rich making $0.90 commissions. My second assumption is that the systems built currently are fine tuned to centralize these small profits. In contrast to NL, Godaddy has an average of 100,000 domains for less than $25 that they never had to buy. So while I agree that liquidating $9 domains is a meaningless process, it is what might make your portfolio more stable.

Every time you buy something on NL, you are helping a domainer somewhere gain a small step towards the economic viability of their portfolio. For buyers, they are assuming risks for a fixed cost. Instead of the usual emotionally driven auction business.

Many domainers are comfortable being in the red and are working daily to turn over any retail sales they can. It's a hard gig.

The only way to make the industry better and more reputable is by making the risks more measurable. We are entering into a new era of digital assets, we need to start taking every portfolio as a means to generational wealth creation.

This is how it looks for me on desktop today:

Is that correct? It loads a bit quicker I reckon, which is great, but the formatting seems a bit rudimentary. At least some better spacing between these columns would be helpful:

Amen to all of that, Dan. More power to your elbow.

I somehow liked the rawness of the look and feel of the earlier version. It looks smoother and more "posh" now, which detracts from that anti-establishment gut feel we all like to indulge in from time to time.

But going through it, not much has really changed other than the polish on the surface. I just bought a very nice domain @ US$ c.160 in total which may well have slipped through the standard nets, so one domainer gets a few more bucks instead of a registrar such as GD getting more for nothing. And I have the minor buzz of a couple of less attractive but still worthwhile domains with US$9 bids which I'll know whether they have been won or lost not long after I awake in the morning (it's already early morning here, I should have been in bed a few hours ago!).

So NameLiquidate adds a bit of zest as well as a worthwhile contribution to domaining and domainers. Thanks Dan and your team.

That's the New UI rendering half-way, it went online earlier. Try the site with a private browser window. Clear your cache manually to fix it in a normal window.
