At Dofo, every day, we are processing hundreds of gigabytes of data related to hundreds of millions of domain names, whois data, sale data, website info, etc.

I want to answer any questions related to the data we have.

Sample questions:
What are the most popular keywords of domain names registered in Canada?
How many domain names registered in the last three days?
What are the top countries by domain count that are in Alexa top 10,000 websites?

What do you want to know?

What is the oldest (earliest registered) domain that has expired and remains available?
What is the oldest domain that was deleted and then re-registered?

How to use Dofo to daily monitor a shopping list of domains

Not sure this is what you're looking for but I really enjoyed your gTLD series (com/net/org).

I'd love it if you could do something similar for some of the popular and mature ccTLDs. And not the repurposed ones, think .de .co.uk .nl .fr .ca maybe (since it's restricted). .cn might be a nice read. Stuff like that to keep us ccTLD investors off the streets ;)

I didn't understand the question.

What is the oldest (earliest registered) domain that has expired and remains available?
What is the oldest domain that was deleted and then re-registered?

Interesting questions. I don't think I can easily find these. Let me work on this (y)

If you want to do something automatically, you can't, for now. You will be able to track/monitor any domain name (whois change, listed on any marketplace, price change, etc.) when we open the "follow feature".:xf.wink:

Extension = COM & Word Count = 2+ Without Hyphen = 127.12 Million

Extension = COM & Word Count = 2+ With Hyphen = 12.5 Million

Thanks. Yes, we will do this, but because the data of ccTLDs are not 100% accurate, we preferred to start with the gTLDs. (y)

@Macit - Thank you That is a great bit of info. So presently the ratio is circa. 101:1.

I think I can see the next big registration trend by end-users and domainers. :xf.smile: :xf.wink: (y)

Is there a backordering service that doesn't put the domain up for auction? Like a private backorder...

Yes. Epik. First come first served. Stick to .com though.

As of 2020.
Do you have the numbers for 2010?
Would be great to see the evolution.

That's good enough for me. Thanks. Looking forward to this feature.

Kind of you to do this @Macit ! I have a couple...
  1. How many .app extension domain names are in the Alexa top 10,000 sites, and if possible a list of them.
  2. Across all extensions, are there any Alexa top 10,000 sites where the domain name is currently listed for sale?
Thanks.
Bob

Thanks for the thread and the opportunity for us to have input/questions.

Once upon a time it was easy to find screenshots of domains from the past...now it is a ridiculously high charge to use some websites to see than information. It would be awesome if dofo could either include it the current site or open another that offers basic screenshots for free or at a reasonable price.

Thank you for the thread @Macit
I would like to ask how many one English word .com are for sale on afternic?
I have tried with your word count and language filter , but it's not working (I guess because it still an experiment)

Sorry, it was my mistake. The numbers should be:

Extension = COM & Word Count = 2+ Without Hyphen = 127.12 Million

Extension = COM & Word Count = 2+ With Hyphen = 12.5 Million

As of 2020.
Do you have the numbers for 2010?
Would be great to see the evolution.

I can't directly say the numbers for 2010 but what I can say easily is that:

Domain names registered in 2010 and still exist (without drop):
  • Extension = COM & Word Count = 2+ Without Hyphen = 3.6 Million
  • Extension = COM & Word Count = 2+ With Hyphen = 412 Thousand

Domain names registered before 2010 and still exist (without drop):
  • Extension = COM & Word Count = 2+ Without Hyphen = 20.6 Million
  • Extension = COM & Word Count = 2+ With Hyphen = 2.3 Millon

Domain names registered after 2010 and still exist (without drop):

  • Extension = COM & Word Count = 2+ Without Hyphen = 103.2 Million
  • Extension = COM & Word Count = 2+ With Hyphen = 9.8 Million

For the last 6 months (2020):
  • Extension = COM & Word Count = 2+ Without Hyphen = 17.3 Million
  • Extension = COM & Word Count = 2+ With Hyphen = 1.6 Million

So the ratio is always about 1/10.

Thanks, Bob.
There are 722 thousand .APP domain name.
48 thousand of them are for sale on marketplaces.

According to our data, these are the top .app domain names by Alexa rank (we may have missed a few ones):
  • emtiyaz.app - 6,202
  • infusionsoft.app - 8,331
  • zipextractor.app - 11,051
  • cash.app - 11,921

160 domain names are both in Alexa top 10K and listed for sale.
We believe most of them (maybe all of them) are listed by not the owners. These are fake listings.

We do have this data, but because it's not inside the scope of Dofo, we don't want to include it to the current website.

Wayback Machine isn't enough? :xf.wink:

@Macit - Thank you for the self correction. (The true sign of a really good researcher. (y)(y)(y) )

I got one inspired by a recent domain sherpa episode. How do sales of "the"<keyword>.com domains compare to those of just <keyword>.if or <keyword>.co both in terms of volume (how many sales) and of size (dollar value).

It used to be...but with removal requests, etc. I find it is only useful about 70% of the time...too many blank pages and bounces back to the front page of wayback...back in the day, it was much more effective.

@Macit You have created a great place to check and buy domains. I frequently use it to dig and buy valuable domains.

I wanted to have this feauture:
sort the domain names for sale by no of tlds registered just like in expired domains.net.

Adding this feature would make it more awesome

@Macit would it be possible to show how many .co.uk names are registered where the .com, .net and .org are not registered. I am hoping to establish if UK end users are content to use .co.uk names in preference to .com or whether they only take them when .com is unavailable.

Kind regards,
Somertonian
