To Mask or not To Mask... is there even a question?

Do you wear a mask in public?

Hello Mods and Mems,

Well here we have it. Mandatory mask wearing in public.
Now most of you that know me understand that I am not the kind of guy that welcomes new laws...
infringement on personal freedom... that kind of stuff.
However, their are some laws that have been passed in my lifetime I believe are just plain common sense.

Car seats for kids.
Seat belts.
No riding in the back of pickup trucks.
No smoking in public places.
Stuff like this saves lives.

Wearing a mask in public is not so much for your own protection, but for the protection of those around you.
This is not my opinion. According to the medical professionals, this is a fact.

Lets hear from you.
Without turning this into a political pissing match, those of you who believe against wearing masks in public, please justify your position.

Please keep it civil... no personal attacks.

Thank you.

Peace,
Kenny

I pretty much dont wear a mask, and I'm proud to see that in my city, there are more people not wearing masks than are. Not all of us are so easily controlled by fear.

Having said that, I practice good hygiene and social distancing.

I think mandatory masks make a lot of sense for any indoor areas where several people gather (malls, shops, government offices, etc).

We know COVID is highly contagious through airborne particles, particularly indoors with many people. So in these situations, masks are a must.

Putting the enforcement onus on businesses makes it a trickier matter... but the need to make it happen is real.

You have said it all there. This is not just a matter of own protection, but a matter of public protection, of public health.
Wearing a mask not only will save your live, but the lives of all the people around you, so thanks for wearing a mask wherever you go outside your home!

I think that covid 19 main symptom is one of fear and stress. Undue suffering in the absence of the disease.

Wearing a mask in urban areas is all you can do.

Those in more naturesque backdrops will only need to wear masks for very short periods of time - as there is noone around and you can not be ignorant, thinking the contagion just permeates everywhere and such nonsense.

Wear masks around others. Assist in helping those with the covid fear mental disease to chill and enjoy life as much as possible!

May I push back a little?
Cool, well..

Personality and Consciousness are as a big a deal as Intelligence.

Specifically, those with high level of neuroticism and other personality criteria, will, more so even with high IQ, be 'clever sillies'.

Clever sillies can convince themselves anything if they are not dissident scientific thinkers.

Let's remember at the beginning of the PSY-OP....

The US Surgeon General hadn't been backroomed yet and made his stance clear about masks.

Referenced at the beginning here:

Also...

There is no law, masks are mandated by the puppet governors.

The awake ones who know that masks are hazardous to health can simply mention this fact and therefore are exempt from the mandate.

People who don't want to wear masks should sign a waiver promising they will not seek medical treatment in the event they get COVID.

To be fair, this whole thing has been a learning experience for all. The initial thought was that most transmission happened via surface contact. It wasn't until later that the experts discovered how much it's being transmitted through airborne particles.

they think they harm themself
if they breathe their own breath

get a good dentist, man
The CO2 argument? That's what I suspected, but since that's been completely demystified, I figured there must be something else that the poster was referring to.

I guess they said it at first because they didn't have enough masks for everybody.
But anyone with a bit of common sense and a gram of medical or science knowledge, know that masks are USEFUL AND MANDATORY in order to stop the virus spread.

As @frank-germany says, you just have to look at Japan, Hong-Kong, South Korea and Taiwan, to see that wearing face masks REALLY WORKS.
In fact, you can see also that it worked 100 years ago, at the 1918 flu pandemy. Then the masks were also mandatory and they worked to stop the virus spread.

Samer
Samer, what is even worse, is people still saying nowadays that face masks don't work.
What is worrying is people "in power" refusing to user face mask in public, making an example to their "followers" to refuse wearing face masks in public.

Only one person “in power” comes to mind.

Sorry.. Bizarre since he’s one the highest risk.
Oldest acting US President in in history. (74)
you’d think he’d wear a mask in public!

His VP recanted said he wrong & wears mask. Hopefully, the other too. Seems “personal”
