As much information as you can include about the transaction is welcome, but at a bare minimum please include the domain name(s), the sale price, and whether you were the seller.

Good luck with your sales!

My first sale! Happened about a week ago.

Domain: E x a m (dot) T o o l s
Sale venue: DAN
Listing type: Make offer
Asking price: 3000$
Sale price: 2000$ (1820$ after comission)
Purchase venue: Hand-reg
Purchase price: 7$
Hold time: 2 months
Overall portfolio size: 850
Started 4 months ago. The first and only sale so far.
Details: the first offer was 250$, I countered with 3000$, the buyer said 1000$. I kindly told won't sell for less than 2K. Got 2K then :) Guess this name was a lucky ticket. Happy about this sale, everything went really smooth. Could demand a higher price I think but still happy enough, and I wish all the best to this great person who bought it (I see it's been used already).

sorry i do not know about Dan... it means your domain redirected lander there right? would you say its safe to conclude this name would not sell without Dan or the buyer would find u on another lander anyway? ty

Two sales in the past few days to report, the 2nd and 3rd this month and my first three sales since returning to domaining just 8 weeks ago with fewer than 10 domains to my name!

bbb.JPG

This was a really hard one to bring myself to listing as this was the domain I used for a startup that I put a lot of work into, reached almost 10k page views per day and well inside Alexa Top 100,000 but I abandoned the project as found it hard to monetise. I listed it a month ago and priced it to sell with a low BIN, buyer got a good deal as some decent backlinks and like 400+ hits a month to my Dan lander, but suspect they've purchased for the link juice to direct it to their own project rather than to develop.

Acquired: Hand Reg, March 2016
Sold Date: June 2020
Platform: Afternic
Price: $495

aaa.JPG

Man I was fond of this domain but held for a good few years and the obvious buyer (business of that name) didn't bite at $4000, $3000 or $2500 or $2000 so I priced to sell at $1495 and its gone. Think the buyer, whoever it was, got it cheap as it has very strong brand potential.

Acquired: January 2018. Godaddy Expired at about $15 + renewal or something like that.
Sold: June 2020
Price: $1495
Platform: Dan

Both were definitely priced to sell but I've got some good buying opportunities at the moment that I need capital to take advantage of as I'm rebuilding from scratch and I've got a website to populate..... my portfolio is still only 102 domains so 3 sales for $2850 isn't bad going at all!

Sold White / Lives / Dont / Matter - com.

I saw an article in the newspaper about how some UK academic got in trouble for saying that white lives don't matter. I checked and the domain was still available, so registered it 4 days ago on 26 June. Added it to Dan for $495. Got an offer for $200 yesterday and accepted it. Sale completed today.

Cost $7
Got $182 after Dan fee
$175 profit in 4 days

All bins at fair prices beats make offer all day long.

Most people don't want to enter into a blind negotiation, what other shop can you think of which doesn't have prices?

Even a used car showroom has a list price, even if negotiation downwards is usually possible.

yes but the fair price part can easily be deal breaker for all.

yes but the fair price part can easily be deal breaker for all.

The hassle of having to make an enquiry for a domain where it doesn't look like the seller is motivated is a deal breaker for a lot of buyers.

I honestly think that the best way is to decide on a price, list it across marketplaces at consistent pricing, then set and forget.... wait for your 'sold' emails from Dan/Afternic/Sedo.

Yes you may be leaving a bit of money on the table sometimes, but if you are running a business it is about overall revenue & profit, not shooting for an impressive individual sale price for vanity like Mike Mann.

Who are the most successful people in this game? Reberry's. How does Huge Domains price? BIN.

They'll have done all the tests and have all the data necessary to answer your question.
