Surprisingly 90% of people I meet deny that we are in a middle of a pandemic! They either claim that the numbers are exaggerated and fabricated, or that it is not dangerous and just a flu, or that we are being lied to. The odd thing is that these ignorant claims were dominant at the beginning of the virus outbreak, then people became more aware and took it seriously and they were wearing masks and avoid gathering, but after 3 months everything was reveresed: people stopped wearing masks, gatherings returned and the ignorant claims mentioned above came back. Today I asked a supermarket owner why at the beginning of the pandemic you were wearing a mask and now not? He literally said to me "I was not convinced about this pandemic back then and not convinced now"

It seems that people just got bored and tired and just want to close their eyes and pretend that everything is fine to get back to normal life.

I am with reopening everything and going back to normal life, but we should do that responsibly by doing at least the bare minimum to slow down the virus spread. Recent studies showed that wearing a mask is a very effective measure, is that too much to ask? Or is it a torturous thing to do? Just put on a mask for God sake!

You can put anything in a vaccine. And many useless and harmful stuff is added to medical drugs. For example why add aspartame to a drug, and call it a source of an aminoacid. Total junk and evil science. Why add titanium dioxide, color, taste, mercury etc... If vaccine is made ready immediately, then people would believe it is man made, and realize that the vaccine is worse than the virus. I just say I don't trust b-i-g-p-h-a-r-m-a. The bad thing is that , they run the medical system. They kill people who cure cancer naturally and at low cost. And not coincidentally, they are antiTrump, antiPutin. When you critisize their lies you would be called conspiracy theorist. Why can't I edit wikipedia's fake moon landing conspiracy theory debunking nonsense (ok, maybe this lie had good intentions originally, I'm not sure about it). wikipedia is a good source, but big lies are protected.

I didn't generalize I said 90% of people I "meet" deny the pandemic. That is my personal experience with people I meet everyday.

I know two people who died up in NY (Long Island) one was family, one was a friend. Family member was 2 months shy of 100th birthday. Friend was 53.

I was going to disagree but thanked you instead. And no, thats not what the majority of them is thinking but relatively speaking a large % of them obviousy do as they're anti vaxxers. What other proven reason is there to not vaccinate? From a biological point of view you want to weed out the weak. So vaccinating isn't that great in the long run. My issue is that it's easier said than done. When your kid is dying from something basic I'm 100% sure you either regret this or you're insane and blame it on either Morningstar or God's bigger plan.

I just happen to live here though. I'm from the 'big city' but ended up here. As for depopulating the world. That would definitely be the solution for a lot of our (white, privileged, wealthy) pressing issues. Are those really issue though?Or just trying to protect my/our wealth? To protect US economy they will have to either lift restrictions and live with thousands of unneeded deathhs or suffer tremendous economical concequences.

Already 10x the death compared to the one in 2009. That's with lockdowns, businesses closing, more info on how to stop it etc. If we did nothing at all, the number would be much higher.

Of course our economy took a major hit, still lots of problems. But something as simple as wearing a mask when you're out and about seems to be an issue for some. That simple thing alone will help out a lot. A lot of people don't want to talk about politics, but if we're being real, I would say the people that have the most problems with wearing a mask, lean to the right. It doesn't help when you have somebody like Trump sending out the wrong messages, contributing to the spread and more death.
