Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

One thing is for sure...things will get worse before they get better.

It's important to note this: "The LOW-dose steroid treatment dexamethasone is a major breakthrough in the fight against the deadly virus, UK experts say."

A too high dose of this drug would have lethal effects for the patient, in the short and long term.

Yeah, chemistry for the body can be a tricky thing.

My best friend is into power lifting, some body building, and played with his chemistry over the years - till he had a heart attack last year. Whether he'll carry on with the chemistry as he gets back into lifting.... . He seems in denial that altering his chemistry might have contributed to it. At least that's how he talks. Whether that's how he actually thinks.....

Yes, but Dexamethasone is not exactly the same drug as the steroids used by bodybuilders. Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid hormone (glucocorticoid), a very powerful anti-inflammatory drug.

But it has very dangerous collateral effects, if used in high doses. It has been used from 1960, and at first doctors didn't know the side effects of this drug, and many people died for the dangerous side effects of a high and uncontrolled dose of this drug.

In resume, for covid-19 severely stricken patients, it can be useful. It is a very powerful anti-inflamatory, so for sure covid-19 patients with severe lung inflamation will see an almost immediate anti-inflamatory effect.
But if used in high doses, it will just give the patient a few more life time... because the collateral effects will be also devastating.
So, doctors must follow the recommendations... and only use a low-dose of this drug.

That would be nice to have in ordinary life -- people are always getting too close.

And T-man is just some guy off the street with ABSOLUTELY NO MEDICAL OR SCIENTIFIC TRAINING -- but we should listen to him?!?!?

Coronavirus traces found in northern Italian wastewater collected in December 2019

A new study co-led by scientists with the Italian National Institute of Health has found that the first traces of the coronavirus emerged in wastewater in several northern Italian cities as early as December 2019.

Traces of the coronavirus were found in samples collected that month in Turin and Milan, the researchers said.

Similar projects focusing on wastewater are underway in other parts of the continent to determine when exactly the virus arrived in Europe. Cases of the then-unidentified disease were first reported in late December in the Chinese city of Wuhan.

But subsequent research found that the virus must have already been present in France in late December, according to retested samples.

The new Italian research similarly suggests that the virus was spreading in northern Italy — the country’s most affected region — earlier than previously thought. Several towns around Milan confirmed their first major clusters only in late February.

“This research may help us understand the beginning of virus circulation in Italy,” Giuseppina La Rosa, a researcher for the institute, was quoted as saying by the Reuters news agency.

How risky is it to attend a Trump campaign rally during a pandemic?

https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/19/health/covid-19-trump-rally-risk/index.html

"This is a high-risk group. When we look at the health risks of Oklahoma, it's ranked as 46th state as far as health, so we're dealing with a population that's unhealthy," she explained. "Twenty percent of the residents in Oklahoma smoke; they have a high percentage of uninsured Americans; 35% of the population is obese; 12.5% of the population has diabetes, which is higher than our national average. And as far as cardiovascular disease, it's ranked 49th out of 50. All of those things put someone at risk of getting Covid-19."

"So you add the [indoor] location, you add the close proximity, you add the increasing number of cases and you add the high risk of chronic diseases. It's a recipe for disaster," she said.

Florida reports record-high spike in coronavirus cases and a 'plunging' median age of infection

The numbers in my county are rising dramatically, but I just had a co-worker tell me that it's only because they're testing more. She plans to go about her life as normal and not worry about it any more. I'm afraid that's a common sentiment across the country.

listen to your co worker, turn off the news, go back to your Immunology 101 class for review of basics and enjoy the feeling of shedding a layer of the mask of dissonance that blankets your soul.

Men are built strong
Women are built flexible

We typically lean towards practices that support our inherent design.

Balance is achieved by practices of both flexibility and strength.

Many bigtime weightlifters die young from heart attacks and strokes because their entire practice catered to their natural male design with little to no flexibility training.

A nudge into practices such as yoga, tai chi and resistance training can help reduce health problems in those who fit the profile of your friend.

How to Stay Safe in 2020 (Most Dangerous Year Ever!)

The faster a country required masks, the fewer coronavirus deaths it had: study

Some countries have been devastated by the novel coronavirus, and others have escaped lightly.

Why the extreme differences? The main one is that countries that quickly resorted to widespread mask-wearing had far lower death rates and shorter outbreaks, a new study argues.

The authors looked at coronavirus death rates in 198 countries, trying to see why some had painfully high death rates and others very low.

“What we found was that of the big variables that you can control which influence mortality, one was wearing masks,” says Christopher Leffler of Virginia Commonwealth University, one of the study’s authors
.
