Has 'Lady Luck' smiled upon me?

A few days ago I won an auction here on NamePros for the domain 'Txxt.net'. I was happy with the purchase as to me it is a form of a 'cognitive domain'. Although there is no 'e' in the word most people will read it as 'Text.net' as they see it (this is to do with the cognitive psychology of reading - a subject I am presently preparing a blog post on). Anyway I was and am very content getting the domain name especially as it came with 7 years of registration, so it was one for the long term possible usage as far as I am concerned.

Then yesterday whilst talking with a friend and discussing domains generally and mentioning a few I had acquired or registered this week he gave me some startling news that I was totally unaware of at the time of about 'Txxt'. It now seems that 'TxxT' can sometimes be used as an abbreviation for the simplified Chinese term " ้€š่ฎฏ็ณป็ปŸ " (Tลngxรนn xรฌtว’ng) which means 'communication system', now my friend is 'good' at Chinese but is not fluent.

So now the situation is that I have contacted a lecturer in Chinese that I happen to know and am awaiting their reply to either confirm or refute this information. (Unfortunately the University she teaches at is basically closed at the moment due to the pandemic and it could be weeks before she gets around to even reading my email as she is so busy trying to organise and help existing students as well as those who should start the next academic year in September.)

So the question is 'Has Lady Luck smiled upon me?'

No, this is just really reaching on this one.

If that is the case then so be it. It was not why I actually acquired the domain in the first place, but ........ it would be nice if it were so. :)

(Stranger things have and do happen in life and in domaining. But I guess it is as rare as winning the lottery. LOL)

Yes, TXXT is an acronym for Tong Xun Xi Tong (้€š่ฎฏ็ณป็ปŸ=communication system).

For popularity of .net in China, see https://domainnamewire.com/2020/05/08/new-data-explains-the-chinese-domain-name-market/

For end user research, see https://domainnamewire.com/2020/03/05/chinese-end-user-research/

All the best.

@Kassey Lee - Thank you very much indeed. The confirmation alone is great but of much more importance are the links you posted. Great information. (y)

Seems that .net (and other lower gTLDs) registration is suffering badly in China. I must admit I never knew that before reading the links you gave.

(Here in the UK our national lottery consists of a 6 ball draw, if you match any 2 then you win a free line in a subsequent lottery draw - it seems being a .net involved is that Lady Luck smiled on me only to this extent. Never mind perhaps next time the jackpot! LOL)

Well the last 24 hours have increased my knowledge, just checked the website 4.cn and seen the domain 'TxxT.cn.com' is listed for sale, but interestingly it states that 'TXXT is an abbreviation not only for Communication System' as confirmed above but also for 'Marketing System', ๆŽจ้”€็ณป็ปŸ .

This is turning out to be a very enjoyable learning experience. :)
