How do you think your portfolio site name is, with respect to your portfolio?

By portfolio site name, I mean, the website you use to showcase your portfolio.
I see many members use a portfolio site name in their signature to showcase their domain names.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Do we get a chance to see it? Can you share the domain name?

Work in Progress. I shall share it once its ready to launch in the mean time I'm just sticking with Epik landers on my domains.

We have a bad portfolio name and even worse domains.

Currently don't use a portfolio site for my name, but I'm working on it, hopefully before the year ends.

I plan to use DomainCoiner.com as my portfolio site because I'm inclined to brandables, so I coin most of my names.

For now the portfolio site I share is Dan. Still a new newbie in this game, yet a lot to experience and learn, but it's quite exciting and I'm loving it..♥️😁

And which one did you vote for?

I voted for good portfolio name and good portfolio although many people would disagree with me. My portfolio can be best described as eclectic but at the same time I would certainly describe it as diversified across many different extensions and genres/niches. It is like having every car you ever owned in one garage. You can't explain why you have a certain car and not everyone is going to like your choice but it is personal to you and maybe it means something that no one would understand.

An alternative theory for my choices is that I don't know what I am doing and there may be some grain of truth in that but life is not just about the destination it is also about the journey.

This is my journey. Beeb beep

As long as you are having fun and laughing, with or at folks, who cares! I looked over your portfolio and I see names that have to tickle your funny bone. Some made me laugh. Now, selling names is a different animal.

I always registered names that only I enjoy. How they roll off the tongue or sound. I kept them for a few years than let them expire. But I had my $10 of fun.

Fun is under-rated. Who ever said you can't have fun and make money. It was probably some miserable poor bloke lol.

Thank you for your kind words. Only this week I had an offer on one of the domain names that people would generally not have any faith in nor could they see it having any value. At least one other person liked my name enough to make an offer. I've had three offers so far this year. Not bad for a Noob.

I mainly laugh at myself as it stops everyone else doing it first and bursts their dot.bubble.

I generally don't laugh at anyone else but I also don't suffer fools gladly.

Many people tell me I am wrong in my approach but I do no out bounding at all at the moment and I am still getting offers.

It ain't over 'til it's over and the money's in the bank. Then they can judge me. And only then.

I hope that you and yours are keeping safe and well.

Regards,

Reddstagg

Not sure if they're 'good' or not but I use the names in my sig. They work for me, so I'm content for now.

I just like to know would you purchase a domain on hyphenated dot com marketplace like this:
SELL-DOMAINS.com
thinking to build a portfolio showcase

Sell creates an impression that you are buying, as you are telling your visitors to "sell domains". So, the hyphen is not as much an issue as the meaning.

Also, selldomains.com is a website and you will be leaking traffic, emails etc.

For the sellers with the word "brand" in their domain name, do you ever get random requests or emails about actual brand strategy or marketing? I'm eyeing a "brand" name, they are catchy, but keep leaning towards "names" or "domains" for less confusion and/or seo purposes. Does most your traffic come from type-ins for the listed domains? Do you even have to advertise much outside a few strong, relevant backlinks?

I am listing my domains on my branding agency site:

https://rightbrand.com

So far only 1% of my portfolio listed there. Lots of work, but I already get encouraging results and get around 900 unique visitors a day, mostly USA, Canada, Europe.

An awesome name and an awesome website. Did you build it yourself or had it built?

I would love to redo and build mine like yours on NameSmarter.com or Brandtorium.com for Brandables.

Thank you very much. It is custom built on Wordpress based on the detailed scope I provided. Still lots of kinks to take care of, but the site is functioning and even selling names.

I prefer to do all my projects on Wordpress. I have been developing sites since 1999 and have learned the hard way that custom scripts can become headaches and relying on third party solutions can end up bad as your business is fully dependent on someone else.

Wordpress ecommerce or any ecommerce platforms from shopify to square are not build for domain trading. This is truly unique product that doesn't fit any category and has so many nuances. It is a virtual product, but not something downloadable, each product is unique. It doesn't have product brands, instead it has possible uses, feels, lengths, ages etc. So some customization is required.

Wordpress is not by any means a smooth solution. If you don't know what you are doing, you will end up with slow site that is easily hackable. But once you learn your way, it is a great tool. Some quick tips: always delete the default themes that you are not using, keeping just one and making sure it is updated; install only the plugins you really need and keep them updated; make backups; install wp cerber for security, use wp fastest cache plugin, use cloudflare (even the free option is good).

I rent a dedicated server, as I have other web projects too and it makes sense for me to have a machine that costs me $300/month, but for your needs a good hosting should be adequate. I also have a server admin I pay fixed monthly fee that takes care of server side issues. If you go wordpress route, make sure you have a wordpress expert that is readily available to fix any potential issues. Learning basics is certainly easy there.

That is a good name. Cannot tell you anything about efty or other platforms, as never got past the trial phase and none had the features I require. So went with custom solution.

I am currently with
NAMES-FOR-SALE.COM
trying for seo purposes and experiment with Epik domains (fast automatically push, no transfer waiting etc, all-in-one, zero risk for buyers)

look at the domain history 15 years renewal by buydomains.com and 4 years huge domains
