advice Why? God! No...! About .xyz premium renewal?

One of my domain Jimmy.xyz is about to expire, I am frustrating whether renew it or not? I like it because it's my legal First Name in my passport but due to its premium renewal($238 fee per year) I feel it's not worth it especially other common names such as Mike.xyz, Sam.xyz, Jim.xyz, Ava.xyz, Mark.xyz, Sophia.xyz etc. are all standard renewals.
I checked it on babycenter.com the popularity of Jimmy is #981 not quite famous...I wonder why .xyz registry set it as premium??? Should I renew it? please give me some advise...It's not fair and I want some price remission!

My first question is what do you want to do with Jimmy xyz ? If you were thinking of resale value - then I would drop it
If your going to develop for a possible income - then do it. You should know within a year, if it's working out. If however if it is just a status buy, (email) Then buy yourself something nice with the money you've saved. There's plenty of posts on NP about the .xyz registry playing around with Premium pricing - Who's to say it wont get worse

Ps I personally prefer the domain Jimmys that is much more versatile (it's taken)

Thanks for advise, if this is standard renewal i tend to keep it for myself because I own a business now and maybe will develop it in some day, because I don't know when will that happen so I kind of don't want to hold it for years considered of its premium renewals...but i still like it though...

When your dealing with registries that are well known for playing around with pricing - either grab it for the max years or don't touch it. Once they've got you on a hold who knows what they'll charge you next year

Because ETH allow use .xyz and .lux as wallet address and I have some crypto currencies...it's cool to say wire BTC to my Jimmy.xyz...but it's really a hot potato due to its renewals.

Yeah...I think because it's my name so I was kinda going crazy, I caught it just after few minutes it dropped.

Registry is not changing renewal prices for premium domains. It seems your domain is priced in 250 usd renewal tier. Last year they gave 50% off to all premium domains. You might know the renewal price by the time.

.xyz jacked up all their prices like a year ago I think. I had many 3 letter real words at ~$9 a year, now I can see to reg a fresh random 3 letter it's $200+ a year. I would say drop it

From an investor's perspective, drop it. Nobody cares about .xyz. If you are emotionally attached to it (you are), then renew it, but that isn't a sound investment decision.

Most of them are regged this year and aiming in vr niche according to some reasons, i do get many (around 30) low xxx offer in Dan and my email but i didn't accept it, some of them I regged first and then will filter them next year, I tend to hold it many years to see if it could be matured, and i believe so due to my observation.

ehhh, I don't know about that. I got a $750 offer on a 3L first name .xyz last week. Turned it down as I feel/know it's worth more. I sold one 3L first name for $1800. And have sold other xyz's for xxxx. Of course I bought them all when xyz first came out, so renewals are standard.

If your first purpose is business drop it and pick another extension . There are plenty available with regular renewal price , .business for example.
