Hi Namepros members,

Normally what are the rates you will consider when you transfer a domain to the site?
Just wondering whether our offer fits the market.

Keep domaining!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I would consider unlimited .com transfer offer for under $5 per domain to make sense and think of transferring considering I've thousands of domain.

You will want to get your terminology right you mean register to register and what price you would need to be to be competitive price to earn business. Would be concerned that were talking about different things over the price.

How do you know he means register?

All registrars have a transfer price.

Name.com is currently $8.99 for .com registration or $8.25 for .com transfer, for example.

Well i don't understand exactly as questioning it but understand that no registrar isn't going to hand over business. I assume he is adverting his own. Perhaps if we wait we will find out what he is trying to achieve.

TBH I think transfers should be free (and not associated with renewals). Until then, I would only consider transferring when: 1) the renewal is due soon; 2) I'm selling the domain; 3) I'm determined to get away from the current registrar. Specific price is secondary to that.

All fine if a year is added on in my opinion anyone wanting to wait you out would be discouraged with more time.

That's true, but if you want to move 1k domains, it's a pain to shell out $8k just for that.

$8 individual, discounts from that by bulk count. :)

I wouldn't swap my registrar for another registrar, even if the transfer was for free. It's not a sustainable business model. They'll get you back on renewals. Besides, the quality of the service, both control panel and support, I get now is unsurpassed, at a very fair price. So I'm not interested in any such deal at any price.

Why not transfer the domains at $1-$3 per .com if getting unlimited transfers offer and a year later bring all domains slowly back to your preferred registrar :xf.wink:

That will save lot of money for at least 1 year of renewals.

This is true, I don't look for reg or transfer deals, just look at the renewal price.

I just stick with Namecheap these days, good interface and no big rip offs being sprung on people.

Simple transparent pricing, good service. Can't complain.

Yes it would. But as I've said. There are other things to consider, like control panel, ease of use, and support. I'd waste much more than I would save, if for example, I transferred from Dynadot to Network Solutions to Dynadot. NetSol have hopeless control panel, support, and charge $9/domain for forwarding. OK. You can do it for every A record for free, but it all takes up valuable time. It's simply not worth it. Show me a registrar making this offer and I'll show you a reason not to find it worthwhile.

NetworkSolutions definitely is crap and I wouldn't move there if they're offering .com transfers for free.

I seriously never liked any registrar other than Uniregistry whose control panel and is very user-friendly and super quick. Simply flawless. I would want to have something of similar quality to move out my domains for 1 year along with transfers at super cheap price.

Uniregistry are good too. But the point is, it's not likely to be an established Registrar with a good reputation. It's going to be more of a Registrar like NetSol than Uniregistry, on the scale of things. It's an impossible dream. In my book. Also with all your domains out of Uniregistry for one year, you've probably lost any priviledges you may have had with them.

That's below .com wholesale price, so the registrar would lose a lot of money.

Yeah, I know. But moving out thousands of domains to a registrar and getting used to a new registrar isn't easy. So there has to be some solid offer to even think about moving out.

I think 1USD is good, so that we can get customers faster
