Hi All,

Am finding that listing domains just on Dan.com or Sedo quite limiting, and want to expand the exposure of domains that I have.

I see a lot of talk of Afternic and GoDaddy and others, is there a workflow to listing a domain in multiple places that people use for increased visibility? Changing the DNS for a sales lander removes the ability to add a txt record with my domain registrar.

Any help greatly appreciated!!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
My workflow is usually:
- Go to your domain settings
- Add txt records for sedo and godaddy
- Add the domain to sedo and godaddy
- add the domain to afternic
- check if the domain is added and live in all the marketplace
- change the dns to whatever landing page you want ( Dan in your case )

Just out of interest, any other domain marketplaces you might be able to recommend?

Afternic
Dan
SquadHelp
BrandBucket
Brandpa

Maybe we should mention that these require exclusivity.
Thats all cool, I can try them out with the domains that I consider brandable and see how they fare. Cheers all for the input on this, am grateful!

how to you manage the conflict (if any) when the domain would automatically get listed on godaddy through afternic dls? Also I’m assuming that you don’t opt for sedo mls in your workflow. Thanks in advance

Listing on Sedo; worst and time-consuming.

Sure, Sedo sells, but they are most annoying, more than all the other marketplace combined. List at @Sedo last. verify; or remove Sedo!

@Sedo’s the exception. the most cumbersome

Yeah. I don't love Sedo's backend (or front-end, for that matter), but about 90% of my sales have been on Sedo, so I always list there first.

I actually used to think Afternic was the worst, 7-8 years ago. Their system for adding domains was so clunky that I got frustrated and didn't log in for several years.

They're better now, of course.

I'm back after a hiatus (I never stopped selling names; just needed to focus on real life and my job), so I have yet to fully explore DAN and SquadHelp, and some of the newer marketplaces.

It's always been a challenge keeping things organized and keeping track of listings. I have a lot of things as "make offer" just to be safe.

The same domain name in the management of multiple platforms, which is a very troublesome thing

I'm similar, but I don't add txt records unless they force me to, which rarely happens. When it does, it is almost always because it is still listed by the previous owner. It also seems like it happens less often as they know my account? Maybe that's my imagination, but things seem to get cleared up more quickly the more time that I'm at each platform.

I follow these steps, with order varying based on mood:
1. List on Afternic (always BIN)
2. List on Sedo (sometimes BIN)
3. List on GoDaddy Auctions (this seems like extra because of Afternic, but for whatever reason, sales still come through on GoDaddy.) (never BIN)
4. Point nameservers to Dan and list on Dan.com (Often BIN)
5. Add to Efty. I don't use Efty landers anymore, but manage everything through them. I haven't had a sales through my Efty domain page since I moved my landers to Dan.

Outside of those marketplaces, I also use 2 of the exclusive platforms. I have 32 domains at BB and 3 at SH premium. I haven't had any sales at either. I'm forcing myself to stick with it, but I'm always tempted to pull the names from the 'branding' sites.

Knowing the risks, I list BIN at multiple platforms. I always list for the same price on all platforms that I do put a BIN. It's not worth the time for me to adjust them based on the commission on each platform. I'd rather spend the limited time I have looking for new domains. I've never had a BN come in from two platforms at once. Maybe it's luck, but it seems worth the risk to me given how much added coverage it gives.

I used to check the listings to make sure they went through but stopped doing that after not having problems. Once you know the ins and outs of adding domains on each marketplace, it becomes pretty basic. I do have to say that most of them suck in overall functionality considering its 2020. Dan.com is my favorite to use, but I don't think I'm getting much traffic besides type in. I hope that changes in the future based on posts I've seen.

Do you find GD necessary/useful, since you list anyway on Afternic?
I have received some offers from godaddy auction, so I usually just manually list both on godaddy and afternic
