Hello Everyone,

I just have a quick question to you guys.

I am watching the godaddy sales from last two months and I noticed that all the high DA/PA Domains specially above DA40 are going in thousands of dollars. No Idea why? How they are treating them? are they resell them? are they up for high google rankings but still I just noticed one domain sold for above 15K that is very high price for a nonsense domain but DA50..

Any idea why those high DA domains are going in such a crazy high price????

Please share useful information.

Thanks

iBoy

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I have noticed the same thing and had the same questions, would be nice to see some answers on this.

My initial reaction was to buy with a view to renting the domain to businesses for SEO / back link juice, you can see adverts on Fiverr and other "gig" sites advertising this service

I am no SEO expert and might be wrong in my thinking, it was just the first thought that popped in my head......

People use then to sell link places. The biggest problem with the sellers of traffic once have them is they buy any name with DA then use it for an unrelated purpose eg Selling links on high DA accepting casino links but DA might relate to something else.

Been in demand for awhile. Some of the price have been bigger than what most would expect for the quality of the name.

Some of these prices are the big boys, like DropCatch bidding up prices. If you get just 2 bidders like DropCatch and Chinese Buyers, who knows where the bidding will end? Often there are plenty more than just 2 bidders. It's the free market at work :)

It's mostly for the linkjuice. Backlinks from very reputable sources are becoming more and more difficult to acquire. People pay as much as $1k per backlink from some sources. It makes more economic sense to buy one domain name for $15k that has 100 plus backlinks from very reputable sources and do a 301 redirect than buying individual backlinks for a brand new website. The heavy lifting has already been done and that authority from the domain age and link profile will instantly be passed down to your brand new domain.

Check out the backlink profile of the domains selling for high prices and pay attention to the sources of the backlinks. Do you have any idea what it takes to get one dofollow backlink from bbc.com or cnn.com and what it can do for your website's SEO reputation? I will pay $1k in a heartbeat for a crappy domain name that has 4 permanent dofollow backlinks from such highly coveted sources.

Individuals utilize then to sell interface places. The most concerning issue with the dealers of traffic once have them is they purchase any name with DA at that point use it for a disconnected reason eg Selling joins on high DA tolerating gambling club interfaces however DA may identify with something different.

Is not DA.

Domains with great backlinks are and will be in high demand.

And good backlinks means, in 99% of the case, high DA (even if DA can easily manipulate and is a 3rd party metric NOT used by google).

I am an end users, and in my humble opionion backlinks are the #1 param when I choose a domain to develop.

If I buy a domain in aftermarket and spend 4 figures I WANT an advantage.

And advantage does not mean good name, catchy, short, easy to type, memorable and with keyword inside.

For end users ADVANTAGE means high rank in google without put any (or less) effort in order to obtain it.
End users know that, I talked with an IT enterpreneur few days ago and I want to sell one of my domain, the first question he asked was about BACKLINKS and how that domain can HELP his business.

HELP his business means have a ROI, not a catchy, memorable or short name.

I have tons of exemple to report but if you want a real last example check acrepair dot com sold fro 1.5M.

Where is on google? For which keyword rank? Is rank high in google? The answer is NO. Where is the advantage to have paid $1.5M? A memorable name? C'mon..........

In 2020 domains ARE NOT only names. There is a world behind them.

A world with Domain Authority, Page Authority, Spam score, Referring domains, Trust flow, citation flow, MOZ rank, SEMRush, Total backlinks, % of quality backlinks and so so on.

Mandatory skills to learn in my opinion.

Pure domainers can not like my words but this is the way HOW, the majority of end users, our prospective customers, thinks and act.

Even deleted domains with low range DA get registered within few mins. Obviously the ones with High DA never drop as they get caught by domainers.

Domains with high DA drop every day.
High DA does not mean an HEALTHY domain.
High DA domains can be dropped because have been abused, used as PBN and caught, deindexed from google, flagged by google.
All things that make a domain, even if high DA, unusable.
For sure, guys who purchase those domains (and NOT domainers in 99% of the case) does not only check DA but the HISTORY of domain.
If abused, if used for spam, for PBN, for links farm.
As mentioned high DA is a good indication of quality backlinks.
And from there the deep historical research will start.
Start from DA, does NOT finish with it.

Clearly, you and that IT entrepreneur only know one way of driving massive targeted traffic to a website using domains. I am an SEO fanatic, but I also know there are other ways to drive tons of quality traffic to a website without SEO.

I conducted a little experiment to find a cost effective way to get quality organic traffic other than SEO. I started with a domain that had been banned from google to make sure I wasn't getting any SE traffic. I bought 200 carefully selected typos and did a 301 redirect to my banned domain. After testing the traffic for 48 hours, I dumped all the domains with low type-ins and kept the good ones. I repeated the process till I had 200 domains with solid type-in traffic. The google banned website now gets 7k unique visitors a day (2.5M visitors a year) for the low price of $2k a year. This was achieved in a matter of two weeks. Show me an SEO tactic that can produce those results that fast for that price.

The moral of the story is that while SEO may be a good motivator to buy a domain name for specific projects, it isn't always the best. It all depends on the scope and requirements of the project.
