Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

One thing is for sure...things will get worse before they get better.

Wonders if everything will be shut down in a couple months time?

Public events, amusement parks, universities, galleries, restaurants, hotels...the list is endless.

Fast forward one month & we're almost there...give it another month, hopefully at least by then we'll be out of the woods, but not gonna happen if people don't co-operate.

I wish it was raining hard here or something because every hospital I have gone to today either has Police or security ready to tell me not to record on the property, one hospital I went to, I tried to walk in through the main entry, their was a nurse there , she took my temperature, asked me some questions, I told her I just wanted to the use restroom, she saw my camera and called for security , they told me to hit the road. Apparently the hospitals here have had people coming to video. I can understand their position, it is a safety issue. I am trying to meet up with a good friend of mine who has a really badass camera with a major zoom feature on it, perhaps we can get video from afar parking in the street.

Every hospital I have gone to today is pretty much uneventful, no people running around acting crazy, I did see a feller go in an ER with a broken arm, it was dangling about half way down , it was broken. Aside from that , nothing appears to be going on besides business as usual.

the problem with that. I don’t know about Canada, but the US staying shut down even 4 more weeks will sling us directly in a depression IMO , the US depends on the business and workers to sustain a economy, we are already in a bigger recession today than were in what they called the Great Recession or whatever

those Americans who are talking plenty of shit about how we need to stay in Quarantine and not come out, they are going to have some big ass problems when their home is foreclosed on, they get an eviction from their apartment, they loose their car to repossession, they have no place to live, we only have two choices, get back to work or quarantine and watch the depression hit, I personally would rather get back to work, open the country back up now, as opposed to loosing everything, living on the streets,,being around crowded areas of homeless people and getting the coronavirus from them

so the new stat is..
for every 1 coronas death, some 1100 jobs/businesses are destroyed.

meanwhile, fatality rates are shown lower than expected... clearly, something is very wrong.

the numbers simply don’t add up, for those of you who are “Believers” in God, there is a event coming on May 14th, the Pope will be addressing the World, he is calling on all world leaders to attend. If you are wondering about this, Simply Google “Pope may 14 2020 , the Pope refers to “Humanism” Protestants don’t refer to humanism , so listen and pay attention.

I think everyone is going to process some information differently than others, just keep a very open mind and pay attention to things you actually see, there are so many things right in front of eyes we can see as opposed to what the mainstream reports, there is a lot going on at twitter and some other social networks that are bring actual evidence of proof to some things that you can see.

it takes a lot of parsing because of so much theory and speculation being reported, but there are actual facts of proof of many things that you can see with your eyes

Social distancing and quarantine are first measures to buy time since we have no vaccine (yet), and to get prepared for the worst yet to come.

mRNA research has still some time to obtain results https://www.nih.gov/news-events/new...trial-investigational-vaccine-covid-19-begins

Since efforts to control the virus have not had huge success, in short time we might as well bite the bullet and accept the new reality and get back to business as usual - the virus is here to stay and it will either be vaccine development or herd immunity that will curtail the outbreak.

We should bite the bullet right now. Like back to work Monday IMO

scientists have said summer weather will not get rid of the virus, Italy has been under quarantine for a very long time now without great results from doing so. People will get the virus,, but with what has been said it doesn’t look like the virus is going anywhere for a good while, so we have to go on with our lives and hope for the best, considering 96% of the people that get it will fully recover, we should open the country at full capacity and move forward IMO

The idea is while we're in the middle of a 'health-storm', keep distance, practice proper sanitation, stay safe. For example, when tornados or hurricanes approach, either get the hell out of the way or hunker down and hold out til it passes. Why drive into the eye?

"Somewhere over the rainbow..." and "Toto, I'm afraid we're not in Oz anymore."

@.X. Is this close to where you live? Instead of checking hospitals maybe there's more drama going on in this parking lot...

yep, practice the social distancing, wash hands, wear a mask if it makes a person feel better, do the best we can to stop the spread , we need to open the US right this minute, if the country can reopen within a week that would work, 1 month and we are in a depression, if we hit depression, fuck it, just leave it closed for a while, won’t make much difference any way

It is going on in the inner cities, I have seen such in Dallas county and Tarrant County=Fort Worth Tx

the sad part, it isn’t new, it was going on a year before the coronavirus hit, and people really don’t understand why, the media has never addressed it

So it had to be the media from the UK to address it?

Some still feel COVID-19 is a hoax

"THE INCONVENIENT TRUTH OF COVID-19 is that it’s going to kill millions..."

yeah, I have never felt it was a Hoax, I do feel that media reporting has been geared toward instilling maximum fear into people, I think reported cases vs non reported cases vs death from COVID and death for different reasons numbers are all over the place and inaccurate, there are many many inaccuracies being reported by media IMO

But no hoax concerning the virus itself

it appears so, you know, you start seeing a lot of homeless people about a year ago, maybe a little longer, these homeless people in areas that homeless people haven’t been seen before, then more homeless people, I asked a city council member about this a year ago, I was told they were coming from Dallas TX , well, I spend quite a bit of time in Dallas, so I knew that was bullshit, the media here has never addressed the homeless problem, to this day we have no idea why there are so many homeless people now in the state of Texas, Austin TX , the Capital has an abundance of homeless people, it’s bad

So, what are you saying, the real coronavirus deaths are higher or lower than those being reported?

Actually, you can bet that the number of coronavirus infected people are 10x of the reported cases, and the coronavirus deaths more than 3x.
So, actually, the real cases are way higher than the reported cases. People dying for coronavirus at home are not being reported as deaths by coronavirus. Only people dying at Hospitals that have been previously tested as positive, are being reported as coronavirus deaths.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/10/nyregion/new-york-coronavirus-death-count.html

In New York, "In the first five days of April, 1,125 people were pronounced dead in their homes or on the street in New York City, more than eight times the deaths recorded during the same period in 2019, according to the Fire Department."

"...the official death count numbers presented each day by the state are based on hospital data. Our most conservative understanding right now is that patients who have tested positive for the virus and die in hospitals are reflected in the state’s official death count."

"But epidemiologists, city officials and medical personnel say those numbers are likely to be far below the city’s actual death toll. The data on deaths of people in their homes or on the street shows that the state’s statistics don’t tell the whole story."

In resume, what I said, the number of coronavirus infected people are minimum 10x of the reported cases, and the coronavirus deaths more than 3x.

Came across while doing research on hydroxychloroquine prices. It was only a matter of time. Trump name drops. and hydroxychloroquine price goes up. who wants to place bets it will later be found out Trump or his sons invested in companies supplying hydroxychloroquine sulfate and or manufacturing the pills.

A key ingredient that compound pharmacies need for hydroxychloroquine skyrockets in price

https://www.statnews.com/pharmalot/2020/04/10/compound-pharmacies-hydroxychloroquine-price-hike/

As global demand intensifies for an old malaria drug that some believe can combat Covid-19, a distributor that supplies the key active pharmaceutical ingredient to compound pharmacies in the U.S. has raised prices by huge amounts over the past week.

Spectrum Chemical boosted the wholesale price for a 100-gram container of hydroxychloroquine sulfate by about 350%, to approximately $1,160, while a 1,000-gram container jumped 230% to $5,932. And the price for a 5,000 gram container roughly tripled to almost $30,000, according to data from Wolters Kluwer Medi-Span.

A spokeswoman for Spectrum explained the sudden clamor for the drug has made it more difficult to obtain the active ingredient, sometimes causing its own suppliers to ship partially filled orders or cancel them outright. And this affects its own purchase costs. “The result of all these current crisis challenges is that availability, prices and delivery dates to our customers will fluctuate,” she wrote us.
