I thought this would be both fun and educational. Here are some marketing nuggets I jotted down. Most of these commercials were on CNN as like many people, I have been watching a lot of national news lately.

Of course, since we are in a worldwide pandemic, a lot of companies are having a "we're all in this together" type of message.

Please note, that this is only a snapshot and not rigorous in any way. I scribbled these down as I was watching television. There may be mistakes, omissions, and paraphrasing. Feel free to add to the list!

The Single .US unicorn:

Freestylelibre.us - Glucose Monitoring Device "Check your glucose with a painless scan, instead of a fingerstick." (Sponsored by pharmaceutical mammoth Abbott)

Interesting note: Abbot also owns freestylelibre.com which redirects to the .us site with a tracking parameter. But only .us was mentioned in latest commercial

.CO Startup

Mirror.co - technologically advanced fitness mirror; imo, it would probably be better for them to use a domain like smartmirror.com

LLLL marketing goldmine

Noom.com - Visit noom.com and lose the weight for good.

Smart use of numbers

60up.com (a device promoting good standing posture marketed towards people 60+, get it!?)

Non Profits:

forstjude.org - Notice the "for" prefix for marketing tracking. Site redirects to stjude.com with tracking parameters

Alluring Alliteration:

HopeNotHandcuffs.org - I actually heard this on the radio a month or so back, but it's super memorable that I'm adding it here. Site directs to Families Against Narcotics official .org website

StopTextsStopWrecks.org - from the ad council; advertised before the pandemic before stay at home orders

What I like to call "someone's commercial/infomercial single product hustle"

(oftentimes these domains start with "try," "buy," or "get". Perhaps a domaining opportunity??)

GetFlawlessLegs.com

BuyMightySight.com

TryTacGlasses.com

BuyCopCam.com

PillowPad.com

AirClimberExpress.com (Notice how the official product name is "Xpress" but the marketing masterminds decided to emphasize the proper spelling of the word while also owning the Xpress version

(many, many other "try, buy, get" domains too..)

Super Rare Domainer Diamond in the Rough

Nm.com Northwestern Mutual "There is no one American dream. There are 330 million of them. Find a Northwestern financial advisor."

National names and fortune 500lb gorillas

Nutrisystem.com/men - Marketing geared towards men. "Bust that gut!! What do you have to lose? I know! The weight!"

Att.com/beprepared - "ATT has been keeping people connected for over 100 years. It's the job we've always done. It's the job we'll always do."

Verizon.com "we're here and we're ready"

Disneyplus.com "#streaming now"

Allstate.com - "Click or call for a quote today"

Strategic Hyphen

t-mobile.com/connect "Connection is more important now than ever"

Restaurant and Food Delivery

Grubhub.com - "Together we can help save the restaurants we love"

More Health Related

ShopCapillus.com - Hair growth cap; again they own capillus.com and use the shop prefix for tracking purposes.

Asknon24.com "I am totally blind… And non 24 can keep my days off balance…"

Xeljanz.com "Don't let another morning go by without asking your doctor about Xeljanz XR"

CVS.com "The more we stay apart, the sooner we can get back together."

Financial

Chime.com - Bank with chime today

Thinkorswim.com Ameritrade "Focus on what matters to you."

OptimaTaxRelief.com "The IRS does not mess around. Stop the IRS from targeting you. Put your tax problems to rest."

Legal

Mesobook.com -"Call for a free book and receive so much more."

Goodman Acker - "You're probably home and we hope you are safe. We can handle your job injury claim remotely. Goodman Acker - Still a good decision (no URL given)

Funeral Services

Jameshcole.com "Visit us or call"

Online Focus

Sling.com - "Quarantine with sling with 15 days of free TV."

TommyJohn.com "Log on now! Reimagined comfort through fabric, fit, and function."

General Retail

Energizer - "Backed by science. Matched by no one." (No URL given)

Subaru - "Go where love takes you. It's easy to love a Subaru. Now get 0% APR Financing" (No URL given)

Miraclegrow.com "Don't just grow a snack. Grow a feast. Get everything you need for spring."

Tractorsupply.com/covid-19 "Thank you to our over 33,000 members #always"

1-855-4-MY-GUYS "Be wise. Go on the internet. Follow us. (silly call to action since no URL or social media given only vanity number.)

News related to COVID-19

coronavirusNOW.com - this website is constantly advertised on FOX news

Government

Coronavirus.gov "#stayhomestaysafe "Staying home saves lives. #alonetogether"

2020census.gov - "constitutionally protected for 72 years and it takes just take 10 minutes to take"

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
What does this do for non developed names? If your looking for brand vs generic then work it out. Most brands when have the money will look seriously at obtaining the generic. I don't think a survey of what is currently advertised will influence marketplace as the marketplace has always found the placements.

Rubbish, you're just nitpicking again.

Personally I think an update for this thread every day would give a lot of domainers the right ideas when it comes to buying names that are being used commercially in the USA.

I've seen
2020census.gov
coronavirus.gov

& coronavirusNOW.com (doesn't really make sense?)

all on Fox, I don't watch much news/tv, too much noise.

Hey there lock! We can kindly agree to disagree. :) The names being advertised right now have a huge impact on the reseller market. For example, if large companies start using .shop in addition to .com for eCommerce or if the US finally gets on board with .us then aftermarket prices for these domains will surge!

Regarding your specific comment, it is not necessarily true that companies with big $$$$$ advertising budgets go for the ultra premium domains. CreditKarma is a good example of this. Credit Karma may have easily been a bot generated name that was human picked for the the fun alliteration (double c sounds). Even the "brandable" names being advertised affect trends. So the Keyword "Karma" gets a big surge and is now considered trendy because all the advertising dollars Credit Karma has put forth is spreading their brand awareness.

Here is an interesting brandable 5L I saw advertised today on my local FOX

shipt.com --> "Over-delivering Delivery" is their slogan

I have never heard of this company before until now. This name looks like something you would see on SH, BB, or BP!

This just in!

Many of you are familiar with Varidesk, an adjusting desk solution so you can work easily sitting or standing up.

I just found out that they had nicely updated their branding. Varidesk is now VARI.com. They had advertised their new website today on Easter Sunday on CNN. It's good timing since many are now working from home and updating their home office setup.

AppyPie.com - Create your own app "As Easy As Pie" - New startup interesting in terms of both the branding as well the service offered; allows non-coders to easily create their own app to be published on Apple iTunes or Google Play; I just saw this one advertised late night on CNN

APlaceForMom.com - an oldie but a goodie; Senior Home Living Solutions - Prime Example of an Effective, Memorable 4 Word Domain Name; also advertised on US national news station CNN

Noticed that too.

Google doesnt own Meet.com for GoogleMeet. last saw, $1M BIN? stock (MEET) meet.me, meet.com would work so much better. They should pay $1M in MEET stock for meet.com
