When will everyone decide to stop pretending and be real?

There has been a numerous amount of complaints about some registrars for some time now. Some of them are unbelievable and some even harder to digest by the responses from the support teams of those specific registrars. (No names going to be mentioned)

Some of the problems:
- Transfer issues
- Stolen Domains
- Support uneducated/irrelevant/irresponsible
- Payout delays
- Character Defamation
and many others....

Some problematic posts below (amongst many others)

https://www.namepros.com/threads/godaddy-told-my-customer-i-was-a-thief-and-a-scammer.1178668/

https://www.namepros.com/threads/po...l-godaddy-investigate-help-so-far-no.1178506/

You would imagine these kinds of situations happening to newbies and inexperienced domainers, but alas, it's happening to "Experienced Domainers"....

My Question to everyone here:

When will you guys stop pretending that these "Registrars" are the best and be real and move out to some other registrars which provides better services?

Are you guys waiting for those problems to happen to you, then you will decide to make a post on NP and smash the reputation of that Registrar?

I think It's high time for everyone to wake up, be real for once in your lives and start using registrars which provides better services/Support and most importantly care about you.

If you guys don't wake up, then face the consequences and stop complaining as you were delighted to welcome those troubles/issues yourselves.

Note: Your inputs and thoughts are most welcome

Mods, if I posted in the wrong section, please shift thread to relevant section

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Fornite,

It's personal choice - Why are you concerned where people choose to register the name?
Let move on and spend time to make money instead of spending time on this thread.

Brad, you are way smarter than this. Godaddy has the most number of customers and most domains, but that is not an excuse. It's like you are saying that China has the biggest population, so it's normal to treat most people bad and have the most complaints. Or as well, facebook should have thousands of complains a day, because they have the vast majority of the market and hundreds of millions of users. It's pretty easy, check the issues for a random 100 transfers at godaddy and compare with a random 100 transfers at namesilo, epik, dynadot. The same you can do for a random 100 everything: payments, auctions, hand regs, customers service, pushes and so on, the difference in the number of issues is huge, but for some particular reason, which I can't figure it out, you have decided to close your eyes. It's like saying: 'because I have a privileged relation with them, doesn't matter how they really are or how they are treating the rest of 99% of their customers, it's important how they treat me and I will defend them, no matter what.' Probably the same thing are thinking the elite 1% from North Korea, that for them it's the best country in the world, doesn't matter how they treat the rest of them.
This is what I was trying to say, but unfortunately the "privileged" will not see that...They will justify themselves while turning a blind eye on the reality. Discrimination all over the world in every aspects.

There are a bunch of analogies that are not really applicable.

All I am saying is GoDaddy is the largest registrar by a wide margin. Of course they are going to have more issues. It is simply law of averages.

I have had plenty of negative things to say about GoDaddy over the years via forums, blogs, etc. There are certainly things that could be improved.

Overall though, on balance, I am largely satisfied with them.

If you are not happy with their products or services, luckily there are endless other options.

Get over yourself. Not everyone is going to see it the same way you do.

I deal basically 100% with end users. The vast majority of end users tend to use GoDaddy, or at least have an account there. It adds a lot less friction to a transaction than using some obscure registrar that people have never heard of.

All these analogies are applicable, because they work the same, one big entity and some other smaller one's. The law of averages it's applicable mostly to all, specially I mentioned the random 100 transfer/pushes/customer service issues and so on. This is the best average, not the average of happy customers who use godaddy for 10-15 years, who have their own representative, who use discount club, who have made lot's of deals with them when they were smaller and now godaddy are taking care of them. The average is mostly about the 99% who don't want/can't benefit from the special privileges. Try an experiment: try to find the last 100 threads where somebody has sold a domain at godaddy and tried to do a basic push( end users or resellers) and than do the same for epik, namesilo, dynadot. I can tell you before you will do it, that it will be a huge, vast difference in the numbers of issues. We are not even talking about customer service and others. You are acting now exactly how BB ambassadors were defending BB when there were issues, without admitting that the rest of people were having real issues. Now, most of them are gone, using some other marketplaces and didn't cared when they were defending them. I understand that you want to keep your special privileges, because they will not be special, if less and less people will use them in the future, but that means that you are directing the newbies to a hole, just to make sure that your life will be easier for you.

I avoid GoDaddy at all costs and move any names out as soon as its allowed. End users use them due to name recognition not because they have superior anything. I don’t trust them and don’t support any monopoly.

So its quite simple- I keep my names where I want to and people who have bought my names can transfer wherever they want. Its really very simple an not worth the bickering going on in this thread. If they want your name they will buy it no matter where it is.

Thank goodness we have many choices with better service, prices and actual innovation that are domainer friendly.

Yep, the GoDaddy push process leaves a lot to be desired. I agree.

At the same time it is less of a hurdle for me to overcome with end users than introducing some registrar they have never heard of.

I am a brand ambassador? That is amusing.

I am not directing anyone to do anything. I couldn't care less what registrar people use.

If you don't like GoDaddy fine, then pick a different option that better suits your needs.

It's not an accusation, it's nothing negative, it's just that you are defending somebody, without checking all the facts, how they deal for everybody. You are talking just about your experience, US based, selling to US customers. Did you ever tried to contact godaddy from Europe? It takes days to contact them and get an answer. Probably it will be the same from China, Middle East and most other places. You are saying that a customer from Indonesia, Japan, Australia, South Africa, Switzerland, France and I could go on with hundreds of other places, will ask to have the domains at godaddy? Believe me, at least 99% of european customers don't care about godaddy. Probably you sell for bigger amounts than other domainers, because you have started earlier, but I sell for less, but to lots of customers and I don't have the same experience as you. I have a few good hundreds end user sales in the last years and over 1K reseller sales and as far as I can remember, only one asked specially to move it to godaddy and even for him, it took 14 days to finalize the transfer, because godaddy was sending the confirmation email to the wrong email. I can point out a few experienced domainers, some with over 20-30k domains, and lot's with 5-6-9k domains, who are not using godaddy as registrar, who are not using their landing pages, who are not happy with their services and they don't talk to much about end users requesting to have the domains at godaddy. Defending them when they are bad, it's like you don't want them to get better. Everybody wants to have a lot of options, including godaddy(probably because of they inventory), but in the same time some of us want them better and for them to respect all customers, not just some. From my experience, 90% of end users will want to move the domain to their preferred registrar, no matter if it's big or small, and they will not care for a push to another registrar.

Because they only cater to professional domainers with 500+ domains, and treat the rest like trash

$18+ .com, and $9.99 more privacy, unless pay $99 year or $9.99 per month for "Club"? Really?

I was a member of the distinguished and had a personal account manager, and a client for over 10 years, and they still did that to me :(
