Google’s newest service, Tangi, is a short-form video platform that can help you learn and share new creative skills. It’s currently available as a website and an iOS app—no, it’s not ready for Android yet, which is strange given that it’s Google’s service, but there you go.

Tangi in com does not resolve and probably belongs to an investor.

Interestingly, Tangi dot co was hand regged by Google just a few weeks ago. Proof that there will always be valuable unregistered domains out there.

yeah.. and real hard ones ot guess and therefore reg... as is clearly shown in this example... since no one did bother to reg it :)

still it does make one wonder what kind of a sale it'd generate if google were to pay a domainer for it! :)

Unfortunately I have to disagree, it's not an inherently valuable (by that, I mean worth money) domain. It's a valueless domain that has been turned into a valuable domain by use of the name and because of the company that has decided to use it.

It's true that domains like these don't have an intrinsic value when you register them. But "tangi" is short and easily pronounceable - makes me think of tangible. It's the type of domain name that's only waiting for the right buyer to come.

I assume the Google folks who worked on the project thought about this name *before* checking to see if corresponding domain names were available. So if I had registered this some while back - just because it sounded good to me - I think Google would have had no problems paying a decent amount for it.

Tangi.com is now re-directing to tangi.co
It's weird if Google owns the. Com why developed then on the .co.
Any explanation?

I am not sure they "own" the .com. It might have been sold already/is in the process. Yet the WHOIS data is still the same. It may be the owner's volunteer move to set forwarding. Maybe they are willing to measure traffic and then use it as an argument for their sales pitch. Would be a risky move though.

Oh ok. Thank you @DonGondon for the clarification. I just learned something new from you. I didn't know about that selling strategy at all. I think by the way, it's a clever strategy - regardless of if it's or not the case with the domain in question - to point or set forward a domain " to measure traffic and then use it as an argument for their sales pitch." Even though you adviced it could be a risky move, I would like to test it with some of my domains and measure the results . It seems like could be a good strategy. Thanks again 👍
