The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

The requests section is broken for both sellers and buyers. My inbox got flooded last month with 100+ messages filled with domains that were not even close to what we had requested, "brokers" that had zero right to be shopping the domains, and blatant spam.

One guy wanted a commission for giving me whois details of a domain that wasn't even for sale.

When will this nonsense stop! And how? They must first and foremost, learn how to learn ...

These buyer request threads are a complete waste of space.

Kinda like a person going to a car dealership and telling them they will give them $500 for a $35,000 car, I am sure it happens too in today’s world, I thought crack heads were bad, some people make a crack head look like Einstein

I posted in the original thread and got this -

Your post in the thread 3L 3N dot Com for $150 Now was deleted. Reason: Comments are not allowed in marketplace threads / Post has been removed / Thank you for understanding

I think it is ridiculous that NamePros is allowing this type of garbage to clutter the forum.

But to be fair they need to be deleted, Namepros cannot be allowing people's threads to get crashed. Now I agree about not being allowed and I believe you should have to be here for a min time before being allowed to post. Where is the vetting? The experience? And no matter the age of the member, if the thread is impossible, meaning no one would sell for the budget stated, it's deleted. If Namepros can have something in place for TopDomains and they claim they know every name that's min $1,000 wholesale they can do that here in domains wanted.

Fair enough, but maybe they need to be more concerned about cleaning the clutter from the marketplace. These non-sense buy requests, people offering some garbage domain with 100+ bumps.

It is a complete waste of space.

Brad you know I agree my point was then that goes to people commenting in borderline threads. There have been a few lower budget LLL.com threads so then people can crash that, and then someone says you want Crypto names for $50 do you know Crypto.com sold for $12 million?

It just never ends I used to mod that section, people keep posting the most outrageous thread.

What did you think of the proposal I made?

I just reported the original thread.

This thread is a complete joke and waste of space. OP is offering $150 for domains worth tens to hundreds of thousand of dollars. Please don't allow this garbage to clutter the forum.

NamePros is going to need to take a stance on this. If they leave the thread open it is pathetic.

Tested the theory again today and 90% of messages failed the basic instructions. I surrender for now.

I don't really have a problem with my comments being deleted. I have an issue with threads like this being allowed to exist in the first place.

I am a serious buyer and have bought many thousands of dollars of domains on NamePros and would not mind some type of vetting process.

Yes, that is why I quit posting WTB threads. It doesn't matter how specific you are, you get flooded with completely unrelated domains to your request.

NamePros needs to work to create a better system.

The WTB section is a joke.
1. Dictionary word for $500- $5,000
2. 5% of estibot or Godaddy appraisal
3. SquadHelp or BB Approve
4. Most people do not read the requirements or don't care about the budget - Just post "DM sent" and send crap names.
5. Something I learn new: Every name is DICTIONARY WORD and PRONOUNCEABLE.

If your budget is below the norm - You will get crap names.
Someone wanted a single .org or .net names and when I sent them the list they offer $20 per name????

The issues we are discussing would never be resolved to 100% satisfaction of all parties. It is technically impossible IMO. The forum software, due to its nature, is not supposed to serve any marketplace. So, threads like this one will always appear - until such a time the marketplace is either moved to a separate domain / platforn / backend, or disappears completely... I occasionally purchase stuff outside routine pendingdelete or pre-release lists, but, with all due respect, NamePros forums marketplace is the last place I would check if I need anything, and I would never post a *wanted* request, due to obvious reasons...

Please read our reply in another thread on this topic:

Please report these rule violations using the "Report" link on those direct messages. We need to issue the necessary warnings and/or restrictions to improve the process by stopping those who violate the rules.

Thanks for the suggestion. We prefer to solve this problem with automated tools, so that will be our focus.

Fair enough, but maybe they need to be more concerned about cleaning the clutter from the marketplace.
The ignore thread (hide thread) feature and filters are the ways we plan to accomplish that.

I am a serious buyer and have bought many thousands of dollars of domains on NamePros and would not mind some type of vetting process.
There are many levels of investors, and tools are the way we plan to cater to them all. Rules cannot accomplish that.

The issues we are discussing would never be resolved to 100% satisfaction of all parties. It is technically impossible IMO.
Agreed.

We may make exceptions sometimes, but for the most part, we are not going to decide what is reasonable or realistic.

That is for buyers and sellers to decide.

Offering $50 - $150 for something that costs more than a new Ferrari?
It doesn't take a real genius to come to the conclusion that it is unreasonable.

I believe most of those who post such threads are doing so for fun. So no need to take them serious or even post in such threads.

Of course. It's not about education. Tools are always better than rules, but not everything can be made into a tool. This can.

Similarly, eBay does not require prices to be realistic. Instead, they offer tools. That's what NamePros is working toward. Rules are a waste of time by comparison.

This can be handled by automation and tools. That's also the standard for an open market like NamePros.

It must have something to do with the business ($$$) end of NP then. More visitors. More banner clicks. Just a thought, I do not know really...
