Can you you legally sell a domain name bundled with it's corresponding social media properties?

Yes, it is possible. But don't charge for the social handles.

Sell the burger. The fries are free.

That's what I was hoping to hear. I'm assuming that while you cannot sell the social handles, bundling gives you leverage to price up the domain itself, yes?

Don't sell the fries and the drink...but you can get away with charging an extra dollar for the burger because of the 'free' fries and 'free' drink, yes? :xf.smile:

I would not describe it that way.

If you are building a brand, then logically you do what you can to strengthen that brand. You might also make a logo, have a starter SEO site, or file a trademark application, which can be done cost-effectively.

As you transition from "domain" to "turn key brand", there will be other logical add-ons.

I'm leaning further away from 'naked' domains and more towards a 'turn-key branding' business model. I am even considering packaging the domain and logo with a partially developed business concept. The challenge is nailing down that 'sweetspot' where I maximize ROI without going overboard.

it goes against most user policy especially Name Squatting Policies. I know github, gitlab, and Twitter will give your namespace away if you are reported.

I think you missed the point. It should be a courtesy to bundle the social handles for free. It would be wrong to sell the domain without selling the accompanying social handles.

That would be the wrong mindset. It is better to approach this from the standpoint of empowerment, i.e. how do you equip your domain acquirer to succeed with your domain and contain future impairment to the digital brand that you conceived before they did. This is less about opportunism and more about risk mitigation for the buyer. Social handles will come and go. Domains will probably be with us for a while.
