Hi Guys.
We have been working on GoDaddy Appraisal tool for collecting sales records.
We have collected approx 40k sales records till yet which we cant see in any platform because that names are sold on gd public listings privately so they are only recorded in Gd Appraisal Tool
we have aim of collection atleast 500k sales record from Godaddy which i am sure they have in record they have even more. on this stage we are doing it manually .75% sales are of endusers..
now if we go to gd appraisal tool and search keywords like suppose WeSocial.com and gd tool will show just 7 sales we will use this data so user can see all close related sales happened in godaddy . atleast 100 similar records on each search of only gd sales. we are getting difficulties here as we know there are million of million keywords and combinations so when we are searching something we are missing records on that searched term. for completion of this we need alot of time and work.

this platform will be free for domainers.

now what u guys think of it? do we need this ? and how this will give benefit to domain industry?

We are thinking to use Domain GoSales.com for this project.

If this not sounds cool we will keep collecting data for own use .

but i need suggestions and more ideas from npers..

also i would like tag @Joe Styler and let me know if he can help in collecting data ? and gd will have no issues in launching this kind of project. if they do we can stop it rightaway.
we are not going appraise any domain value on this project this will be just simple sales record site of Godaddy Private Sales which obviously are without dates but with prices...

Thanks
Rgds

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I totally support your projet. In fact, Godaddy should release their domain sales data the same way as Sedo and Uniregistry do.

Releasing domain sales data helps the domain industry, and also the domain platform that releases the data, as more domainers would place their domains for sale there if they see the domains sold on that platform.

The domain sales data is crucial to know how to price our domains. Without this sales data, we could not price our domains correctly.

they release data but not the way we want as domainers..
thats our project bottom line to show atleast 100 similar sales of Godaddy because they have almost enduser sales report..

Any tool that is based on clearly defined inputs (verified sales) would be so much better that some of the ridiculous estimators out there that use, often times, outdated and/or stale algorithms.

It would be beyond awesome if you could include data from other sales platforms and allow a click box function that could include 'all' or a selected source.

That's why I say that Godaddy should release their domain sales data the same way as Sedo and Uniregistry do.
Just showing 2 or 3 similar domains sold at their appraisal tool is not like releasing their data the same way as Sedo or Uniregistry do.

for other platforms namebio is already exist so i think only gd sales are way enough to post ...
We are going to collect only godaddy sales reports. and make them easy to see for domainers with filters
right now i am facing diffculties as my combinations are not showing enough sales when we are searching i will post some results and they would be shocking..
Sedo dont release all sales report.. they report only sales which they want..
i bought many many names there and they are never reported... i am talking about bins here not auctions.
samething with namepros completed sales report.. we will include them as well.
i believe if we managed to collect big sales data that will give us enough space to cover all combination of keywords. we might need atleast 500k sales records which are not reported anywhere..

Sedo & Uni do release only which they want to release.not all bin sales are reported from them.
here we are talking about all sales of gd in one platform with filters...

Well, if you are going to take the sales from their appraisal tool, good luck finding sales over $25,000. That's the limit on that tool.

i know we have but we will show same 25000+ for them...

It will show the same 25000+ for a domain sold for $25,500 than for a domain sold for $95,000.
That's why I say they should release their sales the same way that Sedo or Uni. If not all sales, at least a good amount of them, but with real prices.

the most sales happen under 25k so we will have alot record under 25k and fyi all sales above 25 if u see in gd try them in name bio they have mostly records of high amount sales.
and we are solving here how can get sales data for idea actually which keywords are selling off and combinations

And that's why I said that I totally support your project. But Namebio does not have any sale above $25,000 from Godaddy or Afternic that has not been reported by the seller, the buyer, or because it was a Godaddy Auction.

Thanks :) i was just clarifying concept.. so all can understand real motto .
btw i bought nServer from afternic and its reported in gd appraisal tool.
so conclusion is if someone buy domain on on afternic.com then it comes in gd appraisal tool automatically but if someone buy through afternic partner site thats not reported..

I think your project is very important for the community, as GD does not release their sales data in a proper form. Having your data collected on one place would be extremely usefull for all of us.

Sounds promising and I can imagine it's no easy task to collect all that data.

I don't envy you doing it by hand... pfff you will need some determination :)

Domain sounds cool. I'd use it. Good luck and keep us posted!

Also, was just thinking, maybe you can think of a way to decrease your workload by having the community help?

Maybe some portal where still to be researched keywords are listed with the option for registered users to add the sales data they found?

Good morning.

Whilst I applaud your endeavours, I would just like to offer a life experience word of caution.

An example of how the best laid plans can be derailed. "Project Example" started by a billion dollar company. Staff are employed and tens of thousands of hours are spent and hundreds of thousands of dollars. The Government announce that they have changed relevant legislation. "Project Example" is dead in the water overnight.

Hours wasted, money spent. People lose their jobs. This has happened in my life on more than one occasion.

Unless, you control all of the external factors that your project relies on.

Suppose, someone else is working on a similar project and they are first to market, or more importantly first to mind. Theirs is bigger and better.

Also, what if GD wake up tomorrow and just decide to release the information themselves.

If either of these two scenarios were to happen, what would happen to your project?

Good luck for the future, but make sure you have every base covered and ensure that you have literally and figuratively thought of everything.

How about eName auction? Do they release sales info?

At first this project seemed like an intrusion into private sales, but then I don't think most would've had an expectation of complete privacy forever on sales with Godaddy. It would actually be helpful to have more keyword similar names' sales to look at, beyond the limits of Namebio. If only there weren't that 25k ceiling, though.

Assuming that GD elected not to release the data themselves, one would guess that they would not "support" a 3rd party trying to do so. Moreover, they may well try do something to prevent collected data to go public... and/or to prevent further data collection.

I mean it's probably against their terms of service to scrape their data, which isn't a big deal when you use the information privately, but making a public thread about it probably not the best idea. I don't know though, would have to see what a GD rep says

Thanks for your efforts, even I would love to see some $25k+ appraisals at GD.

I can't give you permission to do that or help in achieving it. I think if you did do something publicly to scrape our data and post it our legal team would take an interest in it.

We would like to release more sales data than we do but there are certain things we have to account for and work out such as SEC compliance and NDA agreements on sales just to name a couple. We provide the appraisal as a tool for just that, appraising, not a back door to get at all non reported sales. If you wanted to access the numbers around sales in a way that you would not potentially get in trouble for you should pursue it via the investor relations website and get permission from the people in charge of releasing our numbers. GDDY.com. I don't think you will be given it in the detail you are asking about, but that would be the correct path.

Thanks for clarification :)
i have decided not to work on this project as i contacted godaddy administration about it as well and they replied as well this could take me into legal proceedings .
Thanks for your detailed comment :)
Thanks
