While Going Through The Forum, I Didn't Find Any Portfolio Name Showcase Thread, So Thought Of Starting This,
After A Domainer Spends Few Years In The Industry, One Feels Need To Have A Portfolio Site, So The Name Becomes A Prime Importance, I Will Start With My Own To Give Push To The Thread.

I voted third option.

I am not sure that it is super important unless one sets up a great site for a huge portfolio. Otherwise, having a good lander will I think result in almost as many sales with minimal work. Or the marketplace feature of Efty can do it with little effort. Nevertheless having a professional looking site on a good name fit for your portfolio does add some credence, I agree.

But... if one was naming a site for portfolio, I think since most users may not be very familiar with domain or DN that it is preferable to use name or brand (or similar) instead of domain.

Also, I think that the name should match your emphasis. If you are high-end sales to big businesses only, your name should reflect that. If your market is more sales at lower prices to individual creatives, then a cute or fun name might work. If you sell new extensions, it makes sense to use one in your name. If you sell only .com, or mainly legacy, you definitely need a .com.

Thanks for a great thread idea @vij .

It's great when you see something from someone else's perspective. I think you may have just saved me a lot of time Bob.
Thank you

Despite my saying it is probably in most cases not very important, I do spend way more time than probably is justifiable on mine. I keep thinking that if only it got to some level, suddenly there would be a tipping point. But right now I think only now and then does the site influence a sale or inquiry. :xf.frown: Not that I follow my own advice :xf.eek: but I would say first get nicely optimized landers for every domain you have, and then work on your own site, after carefully considering the tradeoff of time vs cost of various options.

But would love to hear what some who have been in this more than 5 years have to say about how important it is. I could well be totally wrong on this topic.

I think your right about DN+keyword. The average Joe has no idea what DN means

BrandBookie.com

This is my only portfolio domain name, and I have all my domain names directed towards it.
Brings in a fair bit of traffic, but I'm working on boosting that traffic and increasing sales.

It's still in beginning stages but I like where it is going. Sold a few names through it which is
a real plus to me.

A few names that might be usable for a Domain Name Marketplace:

All Extensions are .com
Z i p N a m e s
D y n a s t y D o m a i n s
D o t O f f e r s
D o t C h a n n e l
C h e a p D o t s (for your low-priced domain names...)
T r u s t e d W e b s
S t r o n g W e b s
D i s t i n c t W e b s
M y W o r l d W i d e W e b
A p e x W e b s
T h e I n t e r n e t O f f i c e

These are borderline Marketplace vs. Domain Service
D N S n a g (a drop-catch service?)
D N D i g (more for finding out information about a domain name?)
