The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I don't see it working well for most alternatives listed. It could work for a trade news, forum on DN but the discerning users of such a community would probably not be enthusiastic on name and in any case in my opinion NamePros serves us so well there is no need for alternative.

If it was to be used I like the Do + community idea either for social action, philanthropy or a makers community.

Maker Community is a nice idea. Tinkling with things is a trend I don’t see dying down soon.

Political - Do Immunity

Health - Do immunity - for vaccinations

When I think about it the health connection could be worth something. The domaining connection is a lost cause, the first half of domainers already have the services they need and the second half will never pay for services because they are too cheap or think they can do it better.

So find a better use outside of domaining..... that is my opinion.

There's no way I will go for ... and compete with the NPros. :)

Thanks Bob!

DO is also the standard abbreviation for Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and there are undoubtedly other possible acronym community alternatives.

Nevertheless I like it best for a do it yourself or makers community.

Best wishes,

Bob

Reluctantly Bob I disagree with you on this one. Alternatives and competition in any business is a good thing.

Anyway,

One thing this forum doesn’t serve is the “building” part. Building a site and flipping it is a valuable business. Snatching an expired domain and building it for SEO purpose also has value. At the moment, I am looking for information on hiring writers to build a site, and there isn’t much advices on how to do it properly. If someone would build a site for it, I am all for it.

That said, people here need to really think beyond “domaining”.

But this is a domaining forum, if I wanted to think about building a website I would join a website building forum :xf.wink:

Seriously though.... you need to read some of Rick Schwartz's posts

Building a website to sell a domain does not make sense. The only website that is worth selling is one that makes money. In the business world one will usually sell a business at several times the yearly profit margin.

Simply having a mock website adds no value to the underlying domain value.

One question for you: If you were looking to buy an online business which already makes money, what marketplaces/sites would you check first?

While I totally agree that people need to think beyond domaining, I don't think it is quite true that there is no activity on the development side on NamePros. Certainly some people have started threads around the topic that have generated responses, and some people active on this community (not me) are experts in SEO. Have you checked sections of NamePros such as the following. Various website, development and SEO discussions.
https://www.namepros.com/forums/website-and-development-discussion.301/
Search Engine Optimization in particular is covered here.
https://www.namepros.com/forums/seo-and-search-engines.89/
There is also a website review and appraisal section of NamePros that may be of interest.
https://www.namepros.com/forums/website-reviews-and-appraisals.280/
After you have been on NamePros longer and have access to the confidential Insider Lounge that is another place that development ideas can be discussed without leaving a public record.

I thanked your post and agree with the principle you express Laguna. Just to me NamePros does a pretty great job and we can make it even better. But yes, in same way I do wish Google, etc. had meaningful competition, almost always competition is good. Thanks for your post.(y)

Sounds like a fetish site where slaves would be sold by the title.

You can use it for charity / non-profit purposes - a bit of a stretch tho, my first thought was do more for the community

I also wouldn't start any business on this domain. It'll be costly to bring a traffic (I assume no organic traffic). Good luck tho.

Depends on outcome of this poll result, it might be spread and upcurved by mainstream Internet media. Thank you and Best of luck to you too!
