Very frustrating to see no sales since July, is there a whining fairy to reach out to, is this a trend others are experiencing too?

Most of my portfolio is 2 word names, or brandable names under 7 characters ( listed on 3rd parties)
3rd parties = about 150 on Brandbucket, 150 on Brandpa, 50 on SquadHelp = all priced by them
Rest, mostly 2 word, landing on DAN, listed on afternic and godaddy - all priced competitively near $2900
Most domains are 2+ years. Average sale was 3 domains per month till July.
Usually i get lowball offers, but that haven't been coming in for a couple of months.

That's funny -- happy to work with a capable broker on that one. Get.Fit has nice potential. I need @domainexpert77 to tune up that landing page.

Absolutely,

We will set up a Great landing page for Get.Fit It is a really lovely Domain Hack

Thanks.

The brand marketplaces have been a good thing. In fact, we even considered an acquisition in that arena. However, what caused the pause was the obvious race to the bottom on retail pricing.

Brandable domains are an art form -- a great brandable is worthy of a premium to a strategic buyer who agrees with you about the genius of the brand.

Please should stop selling art like its trash. The appraisal engines routinely undervalue them. I have a guy right now that wants to buy my domain name SmartBack.com,

He comes to me with an offer of $2718. Why? Because it is appraised on Godaddy for that. Nonsense. That is a genius brand. He can buy it for $100K, or he can lease it for cheap: just $75 per month.

what are your thoughts on leasing a $100 K domain for $75 USD / month
do you plan to increase by time?

I call this "Baiting the hook". The $75 lease just means you have a secured an option on the lessee's future success. If their idea takes off, they will want to exercise the purchase option.

Other people explore minority equity deals. I get pitched these too, but let's face it, unless you know something about the partner's business, it is hard to be an effective minority owner.

So, I think domain leases with purchase options are a good way to help a bootstrap entrepreneur to get off the ground and to capture upside if their idea works. Win-win.

I told kamal to stop replying you....Germany is scam..period

For the record, I think Nigerians are awesome.

I very much look forward to visiting Nigeria in 2020 and to celebrate a massive surge of domaining success and digital empowerment there. Although I must add that Las Palmas is very nice, I cannot think of a better place to scale-up an expansion in Africa than Nigeria.

So, let's please give a warm welcome to the fast-growing Nigerian domaining community, and help them to become wildly successful in this business. I think many of them are off to an amazing start and I think the industry should consider this to be a big positive.

My main advice to Nigerians is to not sell too cheap. When selling to retail buyers, especially brandable domains, nobody knows whether you are wealthy or not. It does not matter. They want a domain that you have. I will happily help anyone to close deals.

Last night I helped a guy sell a domain for $6000. He is taking his girlfriend (and future wife) on a vacation to the British Virgin Islands using the money he made from selling a 2 word domain. The buyer is happy. The seller is happy. As for the girlfriend? We'll see!

so for the records
to see if I understand correctly

you have a sales price of $100K USD
and a lease with $75 USD / month with a Buy Option of $100 K USD

have you ever done such a contract?

what are your thoughts of

a) minimum length?
b) minimum payment?

( I had a $6500 USD sale converted into a $168 USD / month lease canceled after 1 month )

Yes, many.

We have done much bigger ones than that, e.g. $1000 per month with $175K purchase option for a 2 word brandable. The system is very flexible between financing and rental. See how-to:

I wasn't quite interested in how to set it up...

but how you handle the risk of
losing the customer after a short leasing period

and how you sell the customer the idea of buying a domain name for $100K USD
when he can lease it for $75 USD for a lifetime

a $1000 USD / month on a $175 K USD domain makes much more sense
then a $75 USD / month on a $100 K USD domain

Strange, I have the same situation, no sales/inquires for the last 3 months
It is even worse here. I had two Sedo sales in September for 3,800 USD in all but the buyers did not pay. Never experienced that in a row before.

Though you are aware that this could happen you count the money subconsciously and rise your expenses.

Germny as a country as well as Germans as a citizen are SCAM.
This must be sarcasm. There are many Nigerians and people from other parts in Africa living in Germany and I believe they are quite satisfied.

I am not really after Germany but for him to say I should grow up from defending the image of my country someone is trying to drag into mud.. I need to do this.

I was in a similar situation - have not sold a domain in months, until this morning. I logged into my afternic last night and lowered prices and sold a BIOT related domain for 249 - paid reg fee and held it for a year.

defending the image of my country
That´s how I understood it.

I would prefer to live In Italy where people are cooler, to live in France where people know to live well, California, Canada ...

But I am living in Germany where many people are so serious and strict, work so much, count their money all the time and sometimes are intolerant. And BTW we have a Nazi problem again for a few years, rising, google for "assassination synagoge halle", just the latest example.

Yes there are better places to enjoy life (and better parking services?). Now I am off-topic. Guys stop this unnecessary conflict. We all are one domainer nation!

Nigeria?
why Nigeria?

Nigeria is world-famous for a scam
https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/types-of-scams/unexpected-money/nigerian-scams

so that's why Nigeria is in the mind of every domainer
when it comes to extremes,
I guess

that's not your fault
nor mine

You are all great people
except a few

as in every country
I would say the same thing you say also, but during the past year, and more so during the past few months, I am getting a lot of domain inquiries out of Nigeria. As it is commonly associated with scams, the economy, and population there is booming. Many of these inquiries they do correspond in English, and they make offers, albeit small, and none have ever closed I believe, but from a registrar level to sell $10 reg fee domains, and lower priced services it could be a good time to tap into a huge growth spurt from something right out of left field. Much like India started out a few years back, seeing the same kind of trend, but at the end of the day economies of scale just don't meet up to get bigger deals done.

I always recommend the "ignore" function
for peace of mind

and for better focus on work

Don´t you tolerate that? They try to survive. BTW I sold pipe.me a few years ago for good money to a Nigerian startup. And the most scams which I suffered came neither from Africa nor from Asia.

Post is somewhat convoluted. I would have wished that the discussion here is purely on the subject matter where we can all learn something.

I guess the best words that I could relay with regards to the above topic posted by OP as well as to the other topic that strays within it is: Have patience please.

Excluding the occasional newsworthy domain sale, the overall domain resell market is stagnate, at best. Most sellers would likely be quite happy with 3 decent sales a year in this boring market.
