Has anyone sold a domain through contest on squadhelp?
How much is the net amount you receive after the sale in your squadhelp account?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Yes, I have sold a domain through Squadhelp. It's an easy process. The net amount received depends on what your domain is listed for and what you and Squadhelp agree upon. One of my domain names sold for $1699 and I received $424. Squadhelp also provided a complimentary logo for my domain.

So they took 75% of the sale?! That has to be a mistake.

It could be a suggested name. Squadhelp pays 25% - 27% of sale as commission for suggested name

Probably because it is regged by Squadhelp and not the seller which just has suggested it.

Thanks. Yeah just read through their commission structure which I have to say was quite hard to find and difficult to understand. But seems your right. They take 400 bucks or 25 percent of the sale of a privately owned name.

Regarding a Basic Plus name being sold after having been selected as the winner of a contest, it is noteworthy that the proceeds from the sale will not be subject to a 10% processing fee when you withdraw to paypal, but the fee will still apply to the contest prize. So, if your name sells for $1999, and your after-commission proceeds are $1500, and the contest prize was $300, you will be able to withdraw $1200 from the sale of the name (because the contest prize goes toward the purchase of a Basic Plus name).

If you are the one who submitted that winning Basic Plus name to the $300 contest, you win the $300 prize, and a 10% fee will be applied to that $300 prize upon payout. Your cash balance in your paypal will increase by $1470 ($1200 + $300x90%), not $1500.

The other listing types are straightforward. You get the full purchase proceeds for a Premium name sold through a contest, and you get only the contest prize for your own Basic names selected as contest winners.

I think there's a mistake,
SH Receives $424 :)
Hello Gulsaran,
There was not a mistake in my info. :) I personally received $424 from that domain name. It was a name that I submitted to a contest on SH and it was not selected so I opted to sell the name through SH. They provided the logo, listing and pay for the site fees. :xf.smile: Have a super weekend!

What!

you owned the name and listed it with SH, someone bought it and you only made $424!!!

so SH made $1275 commission!

Well technically they owned the right to the name since I gave them permission to purchase the domain. That was a great way for me to get my feet wet in the world of selling domains.

Has anyone won a SquadHelp contest after a submitted name only received a "Like it" rating?

A recent contest (which ended today) has no "Love it" ratings and there's only one "Like it" rating - for my submission.

According to SquadHelp, if there are no "Love it" ratings and no shortlists, the name or names with "Like it" ratings automatically win:
http://help.squadhelp.com/article/what-happens-if-a-contest-holder-does-not-select-a-winner/

So my understanding is that I should win said contest. But I was wondering if anyone has won in a similar manner before.

Thanks in advance!

Yes. I was in the same situation once, last year. It took a while for SquadHelp to step in and grant me the contest, but they eventually did.

Edit: To be clear. the CH has one month to choose the winner. They sometimes will revisit the submissions and change their ratings of names after the contest is over. I have even experienced names that were "No Thank You" at the time the contest ended become shortlisted. So, sit tight. They might like others, or even love them. If they don't choose a winner, SH will eventually grant the victory to the highest rated name(s) as per their policy.

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply.

The CH is quite involved in this contest - he sent a message after liking my submission asking for similar ideas (which I've sent). So maybe he will choose a winner. I'll just have to wait and see how it goes.

2 SquadHelp Questions since I am new to the platform

1. What am I missing? If someone submits a name and has SH register it, they still pay $10 to submit it. Wouldn't it make sense to just register the name and get the larger commission?

2. Are there any SH Contest Gurus that want to submit a name to a contest? I am new so I don't have the ability to submit to any contest, but I have a decent name that was approved as a premium and found a contest where it could be a good fit. If so, send me a DM and the first one to DM me will get to submit it.

Thanks!

You don't pay $10 to submit, you use 10points. Point is different from dollars(coins)

Thanks. I knew something didn't seem right. I am still learning the nuances such as "points vs. coins".

Have a great day!
