Ok so now we all know CBD is the HOTTEST ticket in town.

So what will the CBD domain demand be for 2020+?

My guess it will increase as more and more companies and governments get involved.

So with that said are you hand regging / buying more CBD domains?

with all the decent cbd dot coms selling out long ago what gtld would you look at to handreg cbd domains, if any?

also would you consider cbd with hyphens in dot com only?

Best would be imo .world, .market, .delivery, .online, .forsale, and in some extend also .city or .zone (to form new gTLD brandables). It simply must make sense together.

Saying that, all those names are also long time gone/registered, so no chance to handreg them now (unless someone drops them by accident) :)

There are established and promising Cannabinoids like CBD, CBG, CBN ... any chance that an umbrella term CB will prevail, the more as I read there are no more good CBD names available?

I can’t see the entire industry changing to CB. It’s in its infancy now and will only grow.

Thanks for your assessment as a "veteran" for this item, Keith.

So they will rather go the other way, establish CBD as an umbrella term for other Cannabinoids besides its genuine meaning?

I regged a few CBX terms some time ago after thinking about possible umbrellas. Being not near the industry I am aware that this is pure speculation.

yes cbd is surely a growth niche but my deal is what about spinoff cbd products that not only have cbd but plus other ingredients in them or drugs say made in a lab for example? I think that market will be huge eventually too.

Some trends I've noticed for CBD sales:
Alerts are really useful for all niches in DN trading. https://www.google.com/alerts you can see what's trending. Also Google Trends shows breakout trends. Just seen on USA geo for the past hour (https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=now 1-H&geo=US&q=cbd):
  • cbd oil for cats
p.s. CBDMashup.com is available to hand-reg (CBDinfused.com sold $15,000 - June 2019, https://namebio.com/cbdinfused.com)

p.p.s. CBDJokes.com also available hand-reg (good for a novelty site, could also sell CBD products)

Just got a Google Alert for "CBD"
"Police car crunched into bollard after colliding with tram in CBD"
Didn't realize that along with Cannabioil, CBD is an abbreviation for "Central Business District", and 295 others... https://www.allacronyms.com/CBD

cbd brandables or keyword style? im leaning to keyword as brandables are harder to make up any decent one now and keyword types seem to be available to handreg but what will the market want? brandables is cool for drugs, trendy sites, new cbd products but keyword types for conservative sites, orgs, legal, farmers, growers etc etc

thoughts?

Some insights into your post.

Firstly brandables are becoming EASIER not harder, as the world becomes less conservative and the older generation especially is more open to funky and rude brand names. I was looking on Brandbucket today and there's a wide variety in terms of quality, but the general structure of brands is consistent in each category. It just takes time to do all the checks.

CBD brandables are EASIER to register than keywords from the research I've done. There's lots of opportunities for branding, just add a y, an o, and io, an a, etc, or remove a letter. It's not that hard. But I ran a bulk keyword search + CBD (only in .com) and most of the good keyword domains are gone (although many have dropped from 2018 registrations see ExpiredDomains.net)- HOWEVER - if you do your research on CBD and are getting the LATEST news you can tap into a trend and that's where the keyword opportunities lie. How many CBD e-newsletters do you subscribe to? Are you getting daily Google News Alerts for CBD? Do you subscribe to any CBD channels on YouTube? Do you contribute in CBD forums? If this is your niche then have you been to any CBD events? It might sound far-fetched but there's so many people trying to nab CBD domains that you have to be ahead of the game.

From the research I did yesterday there are many CBD geo domains (including capital cities) that have dropped from 2018 - Madrid, Vienna, Geneva, others. Madrid has a metropolitan population of 6.5 million so that might be an opportunity for hand-reg. Have you searched the other capital cities - and done a Google Business search to see how many CBD shops each city has?

I don't play Fortnite but I often read about it from a commercial perspective. Yesterday on Twitter I saw the asteroid strike video for the end of chapter 1. I immediately thought about domains, and chapter 2 and domains. Then bulk-searched fortnite1.com (taken), fortnite2.com (taken), fortnite3.com (taken)....fortnite5.com (available). I didn't register it because of three reasons: 1. It's not my niche, 2. Trademark, 3. Only 9 sales listed on NameBio since fortnite.com sold for $71,500 in 2013.. But the key is you should always be looking ahead several if not more years.

I’m still buying these for sure, although few and far in between. It’s getting tough to find anything worthwhile.

Look for the drops on ExpiredDomains.net (you can get notifications)

yes cbd is saturated to the max. alot of domains for buyers to choose from. i think its tapped out myself now. no sense regging domains that wont get any attention especially when they r parked, dan sedo gd afternic sales on cbd is pretty pathetic now. im sure in time when new companies come into cbd they will make up their own domain instead of searching thru all the regged crap out there. maybe a small % will sell but its about time to move on to another niche imo

An important aspect of future CBD trending is law changes in different countries.
This is an interesting CBD article from PBS News (July 2019):
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/science/is-cbd-legal-heres-what-you-need-to-know-according-to-science

For USA:

Future trends might include FDA-approved CBD drugs, so there is an opportunity there. I did a search on the FDA Approved Drugs website (https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cder/daf/) for CBD but it returned no results. Perhaps there is a drug application search site? You'd be wise to check relevant trademarks, and common drug naming trends.

From Wikipedia:

In the United States, the cannabidiol drug Epidiolex was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2018 for treatment of two epilepsy disorders.Since cannabis is a Schedule I controlled substance in the United States, other CBD formulations remain illegal to prescribe for medical use or to use as an ingredient in foods or dietary supplements.[13]

Probably the best page on CBD laws comes directly from the FDA website (September 2019):

CBDPay.com sold yesterday for $3,400 on DropCatch
URL: https://namebio.com/cbdpay.com
Related domains:
  • cbdpaynow.com
  • cbdpaybud.com
Two very popular words, pay, and CBD (highly-generic abbreviation, eg China Beijing Development)
This domain could easily sell for more in the future

To be honest the hype by domainers to buy is crazy with sales not even close to other popular keywords so really makes no sense. http://dnpric.es/?q=cbd Get high and do no real research a joke. Seems every combo is gone but not that big dollar value in resale compared to other keyword discussions.
