Are you going to be buying more hyphen .COM domains in late 2019?

Just sold sushi-man.com from an Epik SSL lander for $4200. This is one of Epik's O&O domains. I don't normally report sales but these days we are routinely asking for $10K+ for good hyphen .COM names and seeing sincere engagement.

The great gTLD experiment has been run. I now routinely sell even ccTLD registrants are upgrading from their ccTLD to .COM if they can afford it. I was late to acknowledge it but the risk-reward equation for speculators overwhelmingly favors .COM.

When it comes to hyphenated .COM, SEO is your friend. I recommend to use SSL landers but any SEO lander will probably do the trick to drive inquiries.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Could I also have the NP pricing?

Can the funds from sold domains be used as in-store credit for new registrations and renewals?

Yes and yes. Just PM us with your account email if you don't see NP pricing on your account.

Today I bought Brussel-Sprouts.com only to learn that it's really spelled Brussels-Sprouts because they originated in Brussels. I still like Brussel-Sprouts better.

.com has been shopped around for years unsold. Farmers don’t pay for domains like this as they don’t sell direct to retail.

You bought the right term, the plural would have been a mistake.

I have clothing-sale.com (Volume: 49 500/mo | CPC: $0.86)
but my best hyphenated must be adver-tising.com (Volume: 550 000/mo | CPC: $1.39).

Thanks to the people who spell it 'adver tising' like it was 2 words.

What about the other way, when a company is using a hyphenated domain and the nonhyphen is available? It is worth it? It's harder to know in case of Germany, UK and a few other countries, but what about an US company using a hyphenated domain and the non hyphen is available to purchase? There are companies in US preferring hyphens?

I have candidates2020 .com
The problem with domains like that is anyone can just type "candidates 2020" in google and get all the info. I dont see the name selling for much.

Bought another 10 hyphen .com today.

By all means, please do keep those lists coming. Happy to buy for cash, crypto or Epik account credit.

Email is best: [email protected] -- allow 24 hours for response. Prefer it if the domains are already listed or registered at Epik but will buy auth codes otherwise.

Make sure the names are at least 60 days old and available to transfer.

Thanks
Rob

How do I know if I have namepros pricing?

If your renewal rate on .COM is $8.49 or less, all-inclusive, you have it. The folks who are under $8.49 have pre-funded their account via BTC or wire-transfer. PM for details.

Just sold a hyphen domain today for $5,000.

General-Counsel.com

The inquiry came in from a Make-Offer lander powered by Epik. The price negotiation took about a week.

I came down from original ask of $7500. Buyer paid in Euros.

I have more funds for buying hyphen-domains at wholesale prices for those who need a sale so for anyone who wants to sell some hyphen domains, send those lists to [email protected]

Important: if you hand-reg hyphen domains, please do it at Epik.com -- I generally will not buy hand-reg domains from other registrars until they are are at least 60 days old.

Congrats!

Did you have an "expected price" shown on the Landing-Page or just "Make Offer" without showing any pricing ?

What is the best strategy from a psychology perspective ?
- BIN
- Make Offer with showing an Expected Price
- Make Offer without showing any Pricing

I think when you have high-quality domains, then it might be a good idea to have "Make Offer" and show an "Expected Price" of e.g. USD 50K so in order to not look desperate.
I think showing an "Expected Price" of e.g. USD 50K also shows the potential buyer that the domain has a value and is not just pigeon-sh.

What is your opinion/experience on this ?

I have said many times -- just do Make Offer and analyze who is inquiring.

I think Epik is the only one that is giving you all the contact details and IP address info so you can be strategic in determining what the buyer could possibly afford.

See example:

This one has $5K offer today but I think it is a $100K domain so we'll see where that nets out.
