Global Censorship: Court Rules EU Govts Can Take Down Content Worldwide After Politician Insulted

The Court of Justice of the European Union has ruled that EU governments can order Facebook to take down content worldwide after an Austrian politician was insulted online.

Eva Glawischnig-Piesczek, a leading figure in Austria’s left-progressive Greens Party, was branded a “lousy traitor of the people” and a “corrupt oaf”, among other things, in an Austrian news article concerning her party’s support for a minimum income for refugees which was shared on a Facebook user’s personal page, according to court documents.

The Green politician demanded Facebook Ireland, which manages Facebook in Europe, remove the post, and secured an Austrian court order commanding it when the U.S. subsidiary failed to comply — but was not satisfied when the social media giant only restricted the content in Austria.

Now the Court of Justice of the European Union has decreed that censorship orders issued by an EU state can apply globally, as EU law “does not preclude [a] host provider from being ordered to remove worldwide information disseminated via a social network platform”.

The EU judges rejected Facebook’s arguments that this would curb online free speech in third countries which do not allow the sort of state censorship which Glawischnig-Piesczek demanded.

They also ruled that EU does not “preclude a host provider which operates a social network platform from being ordered, in the context of an injunction, to seek and identify, among all the information disseminated by users of that platform, the information identical to the information that has been characterized as illegal” — i.e. other content repeating the “illegal information” about Glawischnig-Piesczek.

I wonder how many times she's called Trump a Nazi and other exotic names?

Here you go... an easy to understand graphic of the politics in the Middle East... hope it clarifies things!

The same people that are bashing Trump over his decision to pull American troops out, are the same people that praised Obama for pulling out American troops.

Oooooh... we can make a meme. What a constructive use of your time

What part of “screwing over our allies and leaving them to be massacred” do you not understand? Back in June the orange wonder promised to watch out for them. He just broke that promise.

Even Haley and Lindsey “Linda” Graham aren’t on board with this.

He’s effectively turning the Middle East over to Russia. It’s Putin’s birthday, Ukraine wasn’t available.

How many wars do you wont to fight for how many years? Kurds will retreat to northern Iraq. Thank Barack Obama and John McCain.

Trump/Trumpers - corruption doesn't matter, promises made to allies don't matter

Exclusive: Official Who Heard Call Says Trump Got 'Rolled' By Turkey and 'Has No Spine'

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/worl...turkey-and-has-no-spine/ar-AAIqDkW?li=BBnb7Kz

So Putin, Kim have passed Trump over to Erdogan so he can have his way with him as well.

------
Random responses from Twitter

Turkey will be invading Syria shortly and US forces will be getting out of the way, apparently abandoning the US’s Kurdish allies in Syria, per WH statement.

We asked the Kurds to stand up to Saddam Hussein in Iraq. We told them we’d have their back if they helped us.
And now Trump is leaving them to die.
US strength is not in our weapons, but in our international alliances. Trump is telling the world our word means nothing.

So we’re allowing Turkey to undertake a genocide of Kurds. This is definitely in line with the principles of freedom, justice, equality and liberty we’ve been claiming for two centuries.

Shame on @realDonaldTrump
for giving the green light to dictator Erdogan to slaughter thousands of Kurds, men, women, children, who fought & died alongside our boys in Syria fighting ISIS.
This will go down in history as one of the most shameful chapters in US foreign policy.

So the @POTUS
@realDonaldTrump
just totally fucked the #Kurds over
Yeah thanks for helping us fight ISIS now go fuck yourself.

Trump goes against the recommendations of top officials in the Pentagon, turns his back the Kurds who helped the USA fight against ISIS.

He spoke to Erdogan on Sunday. What did Turkey promise you for you to turn your back on our allies?

haha, I was checking out Twitter, saw Mandate of Heaven trending, was just curious:

"Pat Robertson is "appalled" by Trump's decision to withdraw U.S. troops from northern Syria: "The President of the United States is in great danger of losing the mandate of Heaven if he permits this to happen."
@RightWingWatch
· 2h

Even Christian, right wing nutters are not supporting this. Trump is going to lose the mandate of Heaven if he does this. This sounds kinda serious guys.

Again: Abandoning the Kurds is a complete reversal of policy in that region. What is the WH getting from it?

Fun fact: There's a Trump Towers in Istanbul.

Fun fact 2: The " I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey" thing may have something to do with the giant fine which is owed (but has yet to be imposed on) their main bank for money laundering violations.

Fun fact 3: Not 24 hours after the announcement, Turkey has already attacked.

Turkey starts bombing Kurds in Syria as US pulls out – report
Syrian news agency says Turkish forces hit positions of Syrian Democratic Forces militia in northeast of the country
https://www.timesofisrael.com/turkey-starts-bombing-kurds-in-syria-as-us-pulls-out-report/

Unfortunately, the Turks are good at genocide.

People who fought ISIS alongside our troops are being bombed.
Leaving a close ally to die is cowardly and dishonorable.
It doesn't serve US interests.
It serves Russia's interests, and maybe DT's personal interests..

Fox News Poll: Biden bests Trump by nine points in Wisconsin

By Dana Blanton | Fox News
Wisconsin voters are unhappy with how things are going in the country, oppose the border wall, think tariffs hurt the economy, and disapprove of the job President Trump is doing. That gives Democratic candidates the lead in each of the possible 2020 matchups tested in a Fox News Poll of Wisconsin registered voters.

Joe Biden bests Trump by 9 points (48-39 percent) and has the only lead outside the poll’s margin of error. Bernie Sanders is up by 5 over Trump (45-40) and Elizabeth Warren has a 4-point edge (45-41). In each case, the remaining 13-14 percent of undecided/third-party voters is enough to shift the race either way.

Trump receives 41 percent support or less in each of the matchups -- well below the 47 percent he won the Badger State with in 2016. At the same time, none of the Democrats hit 50 percent.

You know when I heard this I actually thought for a moment this would be something all of us here would have agreed that it was a horrible mistake for Trump to do.

But to see the Trumptard lounge lizards here actually still back Trumps decision even when Lindsey Graham is pissed off at Trump for taking this action is just pathetic.

So what the hell does it take for you Trumptards to turn against you spinless leader?

Exclusive: Official Who Heard Call Says Trump Got 'Rolled' By Turkey and 'Has No Spine'

By James LaPorta On 10/7/19 at 2:16 PM EDT

Donald Trump got "rolled" by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a National Security Council source with direct knowledge of the discussions told Newsweek.

In a scheduled phone call on Sunday afternoon between President Trump and President Erdogan, Trump said he would withdraw U.S. forces from northern Syria. The phone call was scheduled after Turkey announced it was planning to invade Syria, and hours after Erdogan reinforced his army units at the Syrian-Turkish border and issued his strongest threat to launch a military incursion, according to the National Security Council official to whom Newsweek spoke on condition of anonymity.

The U.S. withdrawal plays into the hands of the Islamic State group, Damascus and Moscow, and the announcement left Trump's own Defense Department "completely stunned," said Pentagon officials. Turkey, like the United States, wants regime change in Syria. Russia and Iran support the Assad regime.

"President Trump was definitely out-negotiated and only endorsed the troop withdraw to make it look like we are getting something—but we are not getting something," the National Security Council source told Newsweek. "The U.S. national security has entered a state of increased danger for decades to come because the president has no spine and that's the bottom line."

We must always have the backs of our allies, if we expect them to have our back. The Kurds were instrumental in our successful fight against ISIS in Syria. Leaving them to die is a big mistake. #TurkeyIsNotOurFriend

There is a cleanup attempt coming. Trump hasn't tweeted about this in the last 10 hours. Much outrage from his supporters. Think they're trying to figure out how to spin this. Just read this:

Trump Administration Appears to Reverse Syria Decision Following Backlash

The U.S. is not removing its forces from Syria in the face of a Turkish incursion, said the official, speaking on the condition of anonymity. Rather, the president ordered roughly 50 special operations troops in northern Syria to relocate to a different part of the country after he learned that Turkey has planned an offensive against U.S.-backed Kurdish forces in Syria. The official said that offensive had not yet begun.

The latest assertion, however, appears to conflict with a flurry of tweets the president issued Monday, further explaining a White House statement late Sunday that first announced the withdrawal, but offered few details.

"It is time for us to get out of these ridiculous Endless Wars, many of them tribal, and bring our soldiers home," Trump wrote in one tweet.

This is Exactly how a Narcissistic Dictator wannabe Demigod thinks. You guys Must stop defending this sick man.

Trump truly believes he has the greatest mind in the world. He believes that he knows everything there is to know about everything and that he doesn't have to take ANY advice from anybody.

It takes a truly Weak mind to fallow this man.

Trump administration blocks key witness from testifying in impeachment probe

  • The Trump administration has ordered a top diplomat not to appear for a scheduled deposition with House committees conducting an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump, a lawyer for the diplomat said Tuesday.
  • Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, was directed early Tuesday morning by the State Department not to show up for a closed-door hearing.

More obstruction.
Innocent people don't go to those kinds of lengths to obstruct witness testimony.

Wall is crumbling...

From The New York Post:

Former head of the CIA John Brennan admitted on Monday that he may have relied on “bad information” for his relentless attacks on President Trump.

Brennan — who once warned that “our Nation’s future is at stake” — told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he may have been misled on the extent of Trump’s connections to Russia.

“Well, I don’t know if I received bad information but I think I suspected there was more than there actually was,” Brennan said. “I am relieved that it’s been determined there was not a criminal conspiracy with the Russian government over our election.”

But please believe us this time! :xf.grin::xf.laugh::ROFL::woot:
