TIME ZONES AND THE START OF OUR GLOBAL WEEKEND CHAT

I don't know much about how to use time zone differences. I welcome hearing how I can figure what time in my time zone I can enter the weekend chat when it first starts anywhere.

1st, I think that a weekend for any time zone starts at 12:01 AM Saturday and ends 11:59 PM Sunday. I believe this is the same for all time zones. Right?

2nd, Right now it's my Tuesday. How can I figure out what time for me the NP chat starts this weekend? What Earth time zone starts their weekend first?

3rd, I may have missed this, what language is the chat in?

Thank You, Paul

There are two ways to determine when you can sell in chat:
  1. When you see the green light is on in the top right corner of the chatroom page. It will be gray (off) when it's not allowed. This is the easiest way.
  2. Or, you can search for Fri, Sat, or Sun on the world clock list. The time zones are sorted so you only need to look at the first and last items to determine if either of them say Fri, Sat, or Sun. If either does, then you can sell in chat.

English.

We hope that helps.

seems like I don't understand the NP Chat. I thought there is a ongoing ticker like stream of messages where people chat... Is the chat between just two people and if so how do they match up with each other? OR is there a place where I can see more basics about what a NP Chat IS. Thank you.

Yes, chat is public and members can talk with one or more other member(s) in the chatroom:
The number of members chatting at any given time depends on the number of members looking at chat and wanting to participate.

There are no limits on how many members can talk in the chatroom at a time. When there are multiple members chatting at the same time, it's usually a good idea to address whoever you're responding to like this:
  1. Bob, that's a good idea.
  2. Thanks for sharing your domain sale with everyone, John.
  3. @Kenny - Please help me learn about chat.
  4. Is this a good domain name, @Eric Lyon?
Note: Tagging (e.g., @member) in the chatroom does not currently notify the tagged member. Therefore, if you haven't seen them chatting recently, it's unlikely they will see your chat message. In this case, it's better to send them a direct message instead.

If you're addressing the room in general (anyone and everyone), then you could say things like:
  1. Would anyone like to buy my domain name?
  2. I'm looking to partner on a project. If you know how to program, please send me a direct message (a.k.a. DM me).
  3. Did you all see the news about ICANN today?

is there a place where I can see more basics about what a NP Chat IS.
It's a simple way to chat with other members in real-time, which means you do not have to refresh the page to see new messages in the chatroom.

We hope that helps.

Unbelievably wonderful reply by whoever wrote this.

WHY? because (a) they described their reply with source-urls AND!!! (b) usable/practical examples- "say things like..." - "responding like..." (i learn faster with examples; like some others, I'm visual).

I thank you not only for me and other seniors (who like simple) but for all others who appreciate great useful details and simple and, then, it's easy apply in their participation. Thank You Thank You again. Paul

ps. I think others would appreciate you (whoever on the Support Team wrote this) to share this from the support team.... I think it would mean more to the NP public (assuming the Support Team agrees) if the Support Team posted this (I don't need any credit for asking the questions, I just want others to see how a reply can be).
