I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

My Top Pick for going number 1:

Sphinx.ca

I don't think it went first overall, but as usual, MyID got it.

Yeah, look at that Top 3:

trustfund.ca - MyID.ca (8433780 Canada Inc.)
sphinx.ca - MyID.ca (8433763 Canada Inc.)
lca.ca - MyID.ca (8433771 Canada Inc.)

And naturally, when I leave off ecran.ca last week it goes 7th, so I put on plancher.ca this week and it doesn't even get picked.

The .CA To Be Released / TBR Results & Leftovers for August 28 is now live:

This week’s .CA TBR list fell back to under 8,000 domains again, but the overall quantity and quality of single-words actually increased, while the number of LLLs fell to only 3. Our Top Picks List was mostly on target, and some of these selections that ranked high included...

Lots of Steaming Hot Leftovers!

OMG, we've already got a 2-character on the list for next week. :wacky:

Check your email for a message from CIRA. The board elections "show of support" phase is now on and only candidates who receive 20 shows of support will be moving on to the next phase.

You got my show of support, Frank. Thanks for wanting to be a part of the cira and being part of our .ca thread.

I agree we need someone from this side of the aisle who knows what they are talking about.

Hfc went for $451 at Sibername
Sphinx $375 at MyId

looking at those numbers makes you wonder why companies like that get involved with the Cira TBR at all. hardly seems worth their while.

Yeah, these are really low results, but there are others that hit a few thousand (or much more for the odd LL that MyID wins) that make it worthwhile overall.

I believe LCA went for 3XX and last I saw Trustfund, it was at 7XX

Did you get what TrustFund and LCA went for over at MyID?

I wasn't bidding on those sorry.

I just set proxies on the other 2 and took the family to Niagara Falls.

Looking back it sux to let them go so cheap, but I had other priorities.

It was 2 bidders for Sphinx and 3 of us for HFC.

Don't know if anyone even noticed but dnc.ca has silently shut down.
For a small period of time it was the place to go to for .ca forum talk.

I think the forum lost steam because it was over moderated with too many rules. The investor was forever closing topics. In the end people just left and it died a slow and painful death.

I know I never looked back once I discovered namepros.

RIP dnc.ca

PS. He was bidding for rule_violation and I outbid him for that one.

Yeah, the domain now resolves to NamePros.ca... kinda sad, but hardly surprising given the online landscape right now.

He had a Canadian Registrar called Tiger Domains as well. He made an announcement of that purchase but it never went anywhere as well. It was just a .ca registrar.

I see from Twitter he was operating it from 2011 to 2017, but didn't seem to get much traction.

I think I remember reading about him trying the TBR route and having the absolute worst luck and getting nothing most weeks - maybe he didn't realize you can't compete against MyID and Sibername, and instead should "middle-feed" just a level or two up.

I was actually trying to remember if it was dnc.ca or dnf.ca a few days ago and noticed it was gone. RIP.

rule_violation, nice name.

That's a shame about DNC. It had a lot of possibilities, but wasn't managed very well. I remember there were a lot of suggestions to improve the forum in one of the threads, but they were never acted on.

I probably didn't post there in about 18 months and there was no one there.
