Doug Messer , doug @ universitybeyond.com.

Quite simple, he made an offer on a name, I accepted, he did not pay. Apparently declined to receive phone call(s) from Dan.com.

Breach of contract, Dan.com rightly gave me his details. I emailed him twice advising him that I would post his details on various domain forums and social media, Linkedin.com etc.,and asking if he had a good reason to renege on the deal to sway me from posting.
As with Dan.com he declined to respond.

Incidentally 3 non payers in a row at Undeveloped/Dan but they tell me that is OK and not unusual.

I have 5-10 deals every month on dan.com where buyer never pays even after confirming a deal.

Personally I would refrain from such "name and shame" threads. When a potential buyer doesn't pay (which has happened to me at least 50 times), you simply move on to the next potential opportunity or buyer.

I'm aware that it might technically be a breach of contract, but with all other (physical) products that you normally buy, you generally have a 30 days return policy. The person might just have changed his mind.

The specific information about non-payers doesn't really help anyone and is very damaging for the person that is being named. Having your name in search engines forever associated to a thread like this is not proportional to what has actually happened, so I would suggest to remove this person's name from this thread.

I will receive 1-3 quotes a month, no matter how much, I will bargain. You understand, I just want to see if he really wants to get it.

I have personally experienced this guy as a non-payer.

He made an offer under the name "Big Picture Ventures" which I accepted and he refused to pay.

How is he still making offers?

I completely agree with all your points however there has to be some system where non payers are completed banned from the platform which is not happening presently...

Doxxing people that back out of a purchase is not a remedy to the problem. It makes the entire domain reseller community look bad. Domainers are unfairly being labeled as "squatters" by the mainstream community. We don't need to complicate matters by adding "doxxers" to the mix. For the benefit of all, if someone backs out, let it go. Just let it go.

I did benefit from Rick's (S***) List that he has published for sometime, I was able to find this guy listed there & likely he was planning on - well trying as I was on to him early on- setting me up for something.

But, when it comes down to - no real loss of $ (out of pocket) I will just move on. Just an opinion. Unless they are trying to sell a stolen name or something on those lines - then I would post here as a warning. I always appreciate when others do.

folks, if anybody here would get a decent offer from this guy mes**er
after reading this

would you still accept it
or ignore the guy's offer?

so that might tell you if that thread is useful or not

Personally I'd just move on.
So middle ground see with mods @Eric Lyon if we can have some sort of insider place where we can share those without them being indexed by search engines to protect the person's identity?
Or you guys are mainly looking to sh*t on people?

Wow, that's a terrible rate and from other comments it's obvious that DAN.COM is becoming well known as the place for jerks to go and play games without any fear of repercussions.

He has an unending supply of emails to go through, and DAN doesn't bother with buyer verification?

@Reza Is DAN looking into this?

Compared to Sedo, it's much easier and faster for a new user to make an offer and accept on Dan. There are pros and cons to this

It’s just something that goes with the business, if someone is going to pay, they are going to pay. If they are going to be like this guy who is most likely a front runner, they are going to do their own thing, you just have to deal with it.

If you start putting controls in where it is restrictive for buyers to make offers, all of you will suffer for it.

Spot on -- but if we've got repeat offenders on a single platform, it's best they be restricted there.

Until you have identifiable repeat offenders....

The way such people go cold without giving any reason can be very annoying.

Absolutely Not & wouldn't waste my time negotiating with. I would switch my lander to AfterNic ( the phone # one) & the Brokers over there do a great job - just give them a BIN and your lowest amt, & it's out of your hair - & into a professional + sort of 3rd party. Takes the headache, emotional effect on decisions, which may have only become a problem if you were dealing direct - with someone you have a "seed" of concern with in the transaction.
I am sure there are much better ways, but that's my "hack" (don't know what else to call, but its not really a hack)that has helped.

I don't think you will ever know it's him at the stage of accepting / rejecting / counter offering.

Another good reason for threads like this.. As for moving on, I always do but I try and make sure others don't get caught by this type of ahole.

What if someone else is using his ID or email is h@cked? Maybe to ask him if "couldn't decide" was actually what happened or it is actually one of the fake faces playing the game. https://twitter.com/Dougyymesser

Sedo is another site where I experience this sort of thing I had one guy asking about 3 of my ICO domains and then reneged on all three after agreed to pay. Lost out on a $12,000 deal.

next it was for FoxyTrip.com for $5,000

on both Sedo's solution was to give the buyers info and up to us to come after them legally. What's the point in signing agreements with Sedo about backing out of a deal after agreeing when it is not enforced?

I never bother "going after anyone" pointless and you just end up looking like a complete Eggplant.
