  • This poll is still running and the standings may change.

So I'm building my own domain name marketplace for startups/endusers. I have three names to choose from but I have not yet settled on one. I need some help to figure this thing out. See the names in the poll above: (Also share your views in the comments below). :)

I once had a portfolio site on Gotbrands, but it was just that..it was never a shop and I was using an outdated software from domain traders..that just sucked money out of me to do everything. So I decided to close that down. Not because the name wasn't good. I then acquired LaunchUp, and I feel it's such a brandable name that can grow too. Lastly, I handregged 99Launch to offer domains at discounted prices. But I think this may not work for endusers who are serious. But it's still a flexible name too. So I just want to have a marketplace that i can work hard to establish overtime. I don't want to keep going back and forth between names...but if i stick to it..i want to make sure i'm using the best and right brand.

Here is a private link to the store(this may help): https://e2sz0c8pqur4pf6d-25162317917.shopifypreview.com

also here are logos for all the names below:

Share the reason for your choice too.

Rory

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I like LaunchUp.com

you can play around for tagline. Launch is a good word but you should not only brand their name but also help to complete setup of company

Thanks for your feedback! Can you elaborate on "complete setup"?

Do you mean helping with LLC setup or just setting up their website/hosting?

If I should choose from those 3 names, I would go for LaunchUp.

I would probably not make logo as launchup, but would use capital letters for L and U, as for me launchup strongly reminds word "ketchup" - but maybe that is just me.

I like the picture of rocket in it's logo thought, that is good imo :)

Launch + up . just setting up their website/hosting .

LaunchIt would have been killer, but LaunchUP if I have to select from above 3 brother.

Best wishes!

LaunchUp.com

The most descriptive and the most positive of the three choices.

Thanks for your feedback/suggestions. You may be alone on the Ketchup comparison though lol

Hi Rory,

I like.. no actually I love the name LaunchUp !!

I saw this name few days ago...in your signature or somewhere else... Thought that is super name.

This name is perfect for startup incubators...those who fund and help build startups or also for venture capital firms.

That is like a name to indicate all things startup...

I also think it can be used for Amazon product launches (FBA) / Self publishing projects / crowd funding campaigns...

That being said I think this suits more as a description for "all things startup" rather than only "naming".

I think if there is Name / Brand in your domain then it can easily indicate as a naming solutions / marketplace...

All I am saying is LaunchUp is more powerful to limit its usage for only naming marketplace...

I hope you got my point...

Still choose it as my choice..

Thanks,
Ravi

I made some great points here Ravi! thank you!

If it's not used the only other option left would be gotbrands.com

I would love to have a company that can help fund startups or help them grow, but I don't have the team or resources for that.

I am curious about learning more about Amazon FBA? and Crowd Funding?
I'm not experienced in these, but I have thought about crowd funding before. I'd have to learn how to start a legit crowdfunding company. That requires a team too.

But you made a good point: The name could work for selling names/startup ideas-not sure if you saw the website?(I also would have a blog where i talk new business ideas/product launches and make money through affiliate network.

I was saying about actual crowdfunding platforms...
Like Kickstarter / Indiegogo..

Here see what they raised till now..
https://www.crowdfunding.com

I am saying the name is suitable for that kind of platform...but if you can do even at small scale it definitely does its part through its name itself !!

It can attract great number of people with that name..

As per FBA...as you mentioned you are writing a blog about products...

Then you know how competitive the Amazon marketplace is...sellers through Fulfilled By Amazon (FBA) earn millions... literally...and so does the people who train all things related to this process of FBA and getting products from China for lowest prices...they teach all this and have numerous webinars..resources.. browser extensions..and many more..

All I am saying is it is very big niche of all niches (Amazon products) and they are doing at very high scale..
(Jungle scout / ASM etc)

For first comment I was thinking of end user when I said about different options... I don't know that you are interested in starting one.

As you mentioned that you are thinking...that is great if you have time.. financial support and great team to do.

It takes time to get results in any project..

I also think LaunchUp is calling everyone who are interested in launching a new product/service...like examples I gave!

And also like you mentioned it suits for product reviews and affiliate earning...still I think it is not used at full potential for this purpose..

Sorry...I guess I am stuck with one thought (greatest value for the name) ;)

I didn't know about your website.. I will check it :)

Thanks,
Ravi

LaunchUp if your marketing to brand your site to be remembered, GotBrands if your representing the domains you provide more than your site. if that makes any sense. I like GotBrands since its clear from the beginning without need of even a slogan.

I understand what you're saying after a second look. I do want the site to be memorable for sure.
Gotbrands is suddenly in the running.

LaunchUp is the best out of all them, has a similarity to StartUp.

Launch Up sounds the best. It is short and memorable.

Also, the word "launch" works great for marketing and logo design.

The site looks neat and simple to use.

I see you are using Shopify template...will that get you traffic from Shopify? It is added advantage I think.
Thanks, Not sure about traffic from shopify tbh...or if that's even possible?

I am not sure either...but know about the Shopify platform and their popularity...but I saw many products launched and stores opened through Shopify eco system...
But didn't know that it can be also used for software/digital products...like in this case domains...

I don't think they are built for domains yet, as they don't fully support escrow for domains yet.
I think they support escrow for website though.
I'm just thinking outside the box and trying them out for this since i used them for other ideas before and like them. But cost is an issue for multiple stores though...

@vravis9
Btw, I am leaning towards using launchup....Literally no one voted for 99launch. And gotbrands got a few.
I agree that the name can definitely do much more than names. But without a team and capital I have to use it for my advantage.. It still works and I guess i can add logo design services..and different startup ideas through the blog. All in all, I think it would be a brand people can trust and remember. Gotbrands was my first baby, but it's hard to use it with launchup around. With end-users in mind maybe launchup could fare better..
