The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The only thing I wish either of them would implement is the ability to create a transaction dynamically via BUY NOW buttons (and/or API). There is no alternative to Escrow.com Buttons at the moment.
I believe it is just a matter of time as companies are noticing the gap that is there not to mention the discontent which many have about them.

Disgraceful behaviour by Escrow.com. How can they treat customers like that? And what if you had a payment plan that was not yet concluded?

Yes, good to have alternatives.
They could care less really. This, along with the discussion of private details made by someone from Escrow here, just shows how they operate.

Great point! Hope Epik will come up with such feature soon.

@Rob Monster Can you please comment on this? Any plans on allowing us creating new Escrow transaction programmatically?

There is a full API for domain management now. We'll add an API call this week. It has been moved to #1 on the development queue earlier this morning after I read the comments in this thread today. In the meantime, fine to use this form:

https://www.epik.com/services/escrow/

I will comment in this thread as soon as the API call is live for use. You can set up your API key now by following the instructions:

https://www.epik.com/support/knowledgebase/the-epik-com-domain-name-registration-api/

You will need one or more static IPs to be whitelisted to use the API. If you don't have a static API, you can use our Anonymize.com VPN and connect that way.

For high value portfolios we can set up a VPN instance with dedicated IP running in our own IPv4 /22 block.

Well well well... what a nice news this is. Keep it Rob

are you talking about such a "Buy Now Button" as in this example here ?

https://eftymarket.com/MerchantCenter.com/

Funny thing in this example:
once you click on the button, the domain-name is not shown anymore at the Escrow.com form (it is hidden in a drop-down box).

Thanks. I’m happy to see you take this important topic with enthusiasm and make it a number one priority. 👏

Recently, I spoke with a support rep from DAN and suggested to implement it, but they seem to have too many things on their agenda (blockchain-related functionality, etc).

@Rob Monster, my personal preference is non-API implementation. Your competitor can create transactions dynamically using a URL with query parameters. So a website owner can just generate a link for each Buy button. Easy and no need to bother with an API part.

Actually, I was one step ahead on that one. We are also modifying this form:

https://www.epik.com/services/escrow/

It will allow SSL https post so that no-technical folks can just pass parameters.

The API is obviously more secure. You will want to make sure that any form that calls the http POST is GDPR compliant since you will be passing a buyer's email address.

@Ala Dadan will work with you to set up a good looking implementation that inspires buyer confidence.

Needlessly complex. And static IPs cost money unless you use a VPS/Dedicated webs server.

Here is what I do now (after ditching Escrow.com):

1) I upload domains to DAN with desired prices
2) I link my BIN buttons to their DAN’s checkout pages using the following format: https://dan.com/orders/checkout/domain.com

It works. But this is not ideal for many reasons:
  • I have to upload the domains to DAN first, cannot pass the domain dynamically.
  • I have to set/update prices at DAN. I can’t pass the price dynamically.
  • I don’t get buyer’s details. My lead, but I simply forward it to DAN.
  • Such transactions are subject to a standard 9% fee. So I have to communicate with DAN and show evidence the lead is mine to reduce that.
  • DAN’s Escrow is more expensive comparing to Epik!
  • Can’t add my own logo to checkout pages at DAN (with Escrow.com you can do that)
  • Too much of manual intervention needed

Hmm.. From your recent posts I realize you want to populate your Escrow form from $POST parameters. Is this correct?

May I suggest that you click on above link provided by @Larion to see how Buy Now button works - Efty doesn’t pass any buyer’s details at all. What matters are the domain name, it’s price and sellers details (ID and email). So no GDRP issues from buyer’s perspective. They click BUY and then fill in the details on external checkout page.

Plus I wouldn’t want letting the buyer fill his name and email twice — on my website and one more time (even pre-filled) at Epik. So a checkout page would be best, IMHO.

Wow, a great feature is coming! Giving domain investors a Buy It Now button on their landing pages will meet great demand and could make Epik the No. 1 escrow choice for domain investors. A simple and non-technical implementation will be very attractive. Thanks @Rob Monster and @Ala Dadan in advance.

We don't typically require verification especially if the buyer is paying via wire or BTC. If it is a credit card with a new customer who has no domains with us and has no prior relationship, we may do identity validation if the risk score indicates the need. However, I suggest just have your buyer pay with wire or BTC, and that solves it.

Some good news on the escrow front. Here are some updates:

1. Escrow form:

https://www.epik.com/services/escrow/

This is tied to a back-end project management workflow that will let us track transactions and keep them moving from inception to payout.

The next feature that this will enable is an Escrow Dashboard that will let you track your transactions and be alerted about changes in status for an open transaction.

2. New API method:

For folks who are integrating Epik escrow natively into their workflows, we have added a new set of API methods. The documentation is here:

https://docs.userapi.epik.com/v2/

You will need to get your Escrow API key here:

https://registrar.epik.com/account/api-settings/

see - MARKETPLACE API SETTINGS

As usual, we pay out but bounties, so if you see something that falls short, just let us know. We are also taking feature requests.

@Rob Monster What's with the payment settings for ACH at Masterbucks?

Why ask for "Country" when ACH clearly only applies to US?

And why ask for address details when it's not needed? Trying to withdraw ACH to Payoneer-related bank and Payoneer never gives the bank address so I had to contact your support team about it. It's already forwarded to the accounting team but I hope it'll go well.

Thanks @eternaldomains - we'll take a look there. Masterbucks is slated for a major upgrade this month. For the crypto fans here, I think it will be welcome news.

Some good news today for Chinese Epik customers.

Epik can now process payments using UnionPay, the leading Chinese credit card issuer. This is currently processed manually but we'll be working to integrate this as a self-serve checkout process directly from the Epik control panel.

upload_2019-9-5_16-37-16.png

Outside of China, UnionPay may not be a household name but believe it or not, they are the largest issuer of Credit/Debit cards in the world. Fun fact!

We are still working on an integration of AliPay.

I have sold my first domain using Epik escrow and it was all settled within 15 minutes. Great support, instant payout, would definitely recommend!
