Since politics is business (as far as I am concerned..if I was a political party campaign manager, I would start a media campaign and "google bomb" it to a opposing party..

Some .CA's in the news this morning...
Kind of more specific example of my "blackhat/negative SEO" that I posted earlier.

From article..

"The Liberal Party's purchase of Scheer2019.ca comes just one day after a Nanos Research poll found that most Canadians are expecting a negative election campaign. In the poll, 85 per cent of Canadians said the looming campaign would be either more negative or somewhat more negative than its predecessors."

Interesting read thanks!

Total Liberal slant, as they get all hot and bothered by the Liberals recently registering a meaningless domain like Scheer2019.ca, then it takes them halfway down til they cover the Conservatives owning JustinTrudeau.ca since 2015, which is quite the coup.

Is there a reason I'm only seeing 1,951 Domains listed on the TBR today?

I looked on 3 computers, and cleared cache, but an hour later it shows 9,696? must have been on my end somewhere?

Yep, the new CIRA website is very dependent on cache, especially on Chrome, as well as having some bugs (like leaving some TBR selections displayed after the run).

Pick to go #1 this week:

Armor.ca

Yes, it's not the "proper" spelling for Canada, but it's a power word, and from what I can see, one of the top bets this week.

I am interested in knowing the adoption of .CA domain names in Canada.

What do local businesses prefer to use in Canada? Are they ready to pay desired amount or look for cheap deals or whatever is available?

Any other information will be helpful as well.

Thanks

Canadian business use .CA for the most part (it really helps in the search results for Canadians browsing), while larger multi-nationals pick the .COM (but might also buy a shorter .CA for email, promotions, etc.) so they can compete on the global stage.

As for the market, my theory is that our Construction/Tim Hortons/Immigration-based economy is tanking for private business (they can't just print more money like Trudeau) and they are looking for cheap deals. A lot of them don't understand the value of premium domain, and our US counterparts are much better informed and active on that end.

Others have commented on the potentially-tanking economy (you can only sell so many double-doubles) and I have experienced the constant low-balling throughout 2019. There is still demand, it's just not even close to the same high-end demand that we see in the US.

If you want some basic advice on .CA, treat it like the top 10% of .COM. Only look for the cream, cuz the milk don't sell.

The .CA To Be Released / TBR Weekly Picks Report for August 14 is online:

The .CA numbers continue to hover just below 8,000, but although the overall quality has dropped in most areas, there are still quite a few viable single-words on the list this week. Our Top Picks list reflects this, and includes...

Lots of Single-Words Looking for a Home

Sure not my forte...but NBARaptors seems risky?

I know, but I just list 'em, you guys decide on the risk factor. It was too good not to at least advise people that it was on the list, but I tend not to buy those multi-word TMs.

Hey, did you see my shoutout to you?

Yes and this long time lurker, even just to see if my drops makes your list, thanks you.

Wonder what the future holds for "destroy.ca"

Hey suckers, you remember all those low-ballers I countered and they ran away, and the "found a dime in my pocket" Afternic inquiries I was whining about?

I just got around to checking my phone email and I guess I sold 2 of them, both for low 4-figures. I'm satisfied with the prices and it was pretty fair for both sides.

Congrats. Wish I had your problems :)

Congrats. Wish I had your problems :)

But I had to wade through a lot of low-ballers in order to get those sales, so there was some definite work (and thick skin) involved.

One of the sales was a returnee (sometimes they come back) and the other was an Afternic "lead". First time a lead has amounted to anything for me, and I've got a truck full.

On another note, I attempted some outbound on a dictionary word .CA (the safest to try) that was coming up for renewal and I didn't know whether to keep (I renewed it).

I made a list of Canadian companies that use the Word-blah-blah.ca or .com in their name, then created a short email about the domain being available and how it might help your business. Sent out 8 I think, and got 1 reply for $100 as a "final offer".

Oh well, at least I tried. :xf.cool:

Then again, the big guys might just be playing possum and will spring a 5-figure offer on me next week. Yeah, that's the ticket.

It's that time folks, and I went after ARMOR.CA and unless MyID gets it, then I have a good shot of being in the auction.

Then again, that pretty well guarantees that MyID will get it.

WTF? Armor.ca was selected by....

Rapidregister? :rage::rage::rage:

And it looks like I didn't win anything other than a crappy one at the end of my list. :pompous:

You win some, you lose some.

No joke, and I go from dizzying highs to soul-crushing lows on a daily basis.

For example, I was home today babysitting the home warranty repair guys (again) and my wife stops in to check that I'm not drinking whiskey with the workers and having a party. So I casually mention that I sold a couple of domains and she replies...

"Great, you can put that against the mortgage."

My reaction:

Epic lol

Its my wife's birthday today. She is in Surrey, Canada with kids and I'm occupied in India babysitting our family business day-in/day-out.

I asked my wife the other day, what do you want for your birthday and she was like surprise me. I had flipped few domains here on namepros for around US $500, so I paypal'd those to her and I'm like surprise surprise!! lol

They still prefer to use $500 .ca's. I'll be spending like a drunken sailor this recession and take some good stuff off the market, in the hope of changing that.
