I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Was mine...parked and not much traffic...posted the name in this thread when first regged..closest that I could to the actual word.

Quite honestly I would have dropped it too so don't feel bad.

I mean.... even if I owned porn.ca I still would not pay for p0rn.ca because it's just not needed.

I only own one adult domain and it's 4sex(dot)ca and I'm not hot on having any adult domains in my portfolio.

This is the proper strategy for any premium domain you have in the portfolio, but there are the odd hangers-on that I have let for for low prices simply to get rid of them rather than dropping them.

But yeah, if you're talking primo stuff, letting them go for a song is a self-defeating strategy and you'll never make any real money.

P.S. Where do most of your sales come from, inquiries or outbound?

I don't do outbound, inbound inquiries only. I don't typically list my domains for sale, and especially no published BIN price. I feel like that strategy gives me the upper hand in any negotiations.

I don't sell anything under $1K, no matter how crappy it is - so its definitely not just primo stuff. That 1-word I just sold wasn't exactly primo, it ended in "ly.ca" and I grabbed it uncontested in TBR last year.

Bigger sales don't necessarily mean better domains, it more likely means they were more motivated buyers. Recognizing that difference is key. Your goal is to properly price every domain so that the buyer winces in pain when he first sees your quote, but then eventually buys it anyways. You've gotta find their pain threshold. If it doesn't hurt at least a little, it was too cheap!

However, I say this from my soapbox here, but I have to remember that not everyone has a portfolio of thousands of domains to draw from. So I get it, sometimes you gotta choose to accept a $500 offer to cover some renewals. Just don't report those sales please! :)

And when TBR times are good I can't believe what falls through the cracks - I had Caliban.ca listed on my Top Picks List, and it went unselected (??)... so I bought it for $1 on that GD sale a few weeks later - already got 2 offers through the CIRA contact form and it's getting a nice bit of traffic.

I can see that one selling soon.

I've never heard of caliban, no idea what/where/who that is. I'd have to google it to find out. Had I researched it, I might have thought it was valuable too - so it really boils down to how much time & effort you put into researching the TBR lists... Each one of us has a different set of experiences that help us find the hidden gems.

And no sooner do I say that then I end up picking up blow.ca

The way I look at it (other than the obvious) it will probably get used similar to www.blow.com

Check out the .com to see what I mean

I'm with you on that one, I would have completely overlooked it because it sounds too much like Taliban.
In retrospect it shows why more than one opinion is always valuable. :xf.smile:

DT.ca sold for $29,000 (assume US $)

Yeah, was hoping for a fast flip and or even parking money to pay for renewal fees. Parking not what it used to be in the adult business.

Even when I see my drops listed and picked up right aeay..no regrets..my lost someone else's gain.

And I realize it's not a character everyone knows, but I did put it in the Top Picks List, which should give people some idea, assuming I'm not insane. And although the Shakespearean play was my prime source, it's also a Moon off Uranus (yes, Uranus!).

I also thought he was in Clash of the Titans, but that turns out to be a "based on Caliban" character named Calibos. Go figure.

Also, I am no longer getting Notifications for this thread (though I do for others) and as I saw other comments along a similar theme, just wondering who else is having trouble.

So I "Unwatched" and then "Watched" the thread again, and I'm getting notifications. The NP system must be getting overloaded.

The .CA To Be Released / TBR Weekly Picks for July 17 are online:

The .CA numbers dropped slightly again this week, but the overall quality moved up a bit, especially how it related to premium 3-letter domains. For the second week in a row, our Top Picks list is mostly comprised of LLL domains, including...

Is it just me or is there no Trudeau reference in the linked article?

Are you trying to increase your readership? :xf.laugh:

You got me, #TrudeauMustGo was trending so I tried to incorporate it into a catchy clickbait link.

The .CA To Be Released / TBR Results & Leftovers for July 17 are online:

This week’s .CA TBR list remained in the mid-8K range, and while premium domains were not exactly overflowing, it still represented a noted increase from the last few recaps. Compiling our Top Picks List was also a bit easier, and we selected a massive 9 .CA domains, accounting for 6 of the top 9 (not bad) domains taken, and all 9 Top Picks were gone within the top 19 overall. Some of these included...

Hot-cross domains!
Hot-cross domains!
One a penny, two a penny,
Hot-cross domains!
Hope you have no losses,
And only capital gains,
One a penny, two a penny,
Hot-cross domains!

$1000 unsolicited offer in US funds for a name I have owned for 6 weeks, from a Quebec marketing firm.
In my response I ask if he is purchasing for himself or a 3rd party. His response "KEEP IT".

I politely and purposely used the English spelling of his name and said my goodbyes.

The French.

Great story, and some people are just too much. :xf.grin:

It'll be even funnier if someone else contacts you from the same firm a few months from now - had that happen before.

Might have been been avoided by this....

www.mapledots.ca/contact

If I get an email I always direct them to the form and instruct them that is the only way I open negotiations.

I have that contact form on every page.

Wow! You really put some thought into that. We're of a similar mindset I think when it comes to gathering information about potential purchasers. Knowledge is power.

My guy contacted me through the Bodis contact form. He used his business email and gave his real name. I think he was representing a 3rd party, as there were multiple visits from multiple IP addresses the day he made contact. Or at least he was bouncing ideas off of somebody.

Yup, best thing I ever did.
The odd time I will get an email inquiry and I gently direct them to the form stating that is the only way to open negotiations.

I have a Purchase button on my landers and on virtually every page.

Here is one of my landers:
https://pure.ca/

As you can see it is clear how contact should be initiated.
I don't understand why everyone is afraid to ask for information, it is a key part of my pricing strategy.

Damn, sold a domain but NamesPro.ca seems to be DOA. I also wanted to renew a domain, but it looks like I'm hooped on both ends. :xf.frown:

Any idea how long this outage has been going on for, as I don't think I've accessed the site in a week or more.
