I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
It's true that the .CA market is not strong, but I wouldn't take Namebio as fact thought. For .COM for example, they also report small $100 "sales" from dropcatchers (GoDaddy Auctions, Namejet, etc), those catches don't mean anything.

Dropped CA's routinely go for $100 and more at the weekly TBR, so if those were reported on Namebio, the numbers would go way up.

Then there are always private sales as well, no way to track those.

But back to your original point, yes, the .CA market sucks for anything other than truly premium names

And even then...

I have to admit that 2019 has not been good for my .CA sales - I sold a few .COMs this year as well as a .CA in January, and I've had more than few .CA inquiries and some offers through June, but otherwise ZIP in actual .CA sales.

This is my worst year on .CA, and while part of it was my fault for not being timely updating my online listings, there does seem to be a lull in the market right now.

Has anyone submitted their sales or purchases to NameBio? Is it a difficult process?

This is probably why cannabis .ca's keep dropping. The regulations around marketing are so severe, they have really hamstrung the industry.

Oh I know, and when the gov't first started talking about it, it was all wine and roses (to get votes), but then suddenly (as many rightfully predicted) it effectively became the LCBO for ganja.

I noticed a problem today on Afternic - none of my .CA listings showed up in Afternic search. All my .COMs are there, and the system has a .CA drop-down, but every single listing comes up as "Sorry, No Match Found".

Even stranger, these .CA's all appear on GoDaddy under their Afternic partner program.

Can anyone else with .CA listings on Afternic give it a shot at searching for your .CA domains?

Yep, I just tried it now and it's working again.

I emailed support early this morning and somebody must have fixed something.

They still don't show up on the bottom list for text searches without an extension, but I don't know if they ever did.

I had an afternic guy contact me for PINK(dot)ca and lecture me about how a 1k offer is a good starting point. I didn't even answer back the second time around because I don't even have domains listed with them.

Spending a lot on any .ca is a losing proposition at the moment. Unless you have no money issues and are prepared for a long wait then you have to be prepared for lowball offers.

Bought a few recently but am keeping it at around 1k max per acquisition at the moment.

.ca has been slow for me as well. I'm not buying much now (there hasn't been much in the TBR recently anyway). I'm focusing on selling off my .info's and .org's before the renewal price gets increased.

I would respond to a $1k offer, you never know where it's going to go, but my response would be to let them know $1k isn't in the right ballpark (not even in the right town). Patience, and politeness (not shutting doors) is the key.

Pretty sure we're in a recession, trucking feels it first and I'm feeling it. Lots of good buying opportunities ahead and hopefully a solid bounce when it's over. Stay the course.

Another low-end week at the TBR, with only a few mid-line LLLs and not a single premium word I could find. Lots and lots of marijuana-based drops, some of which aren't that bad.

My personal strategy is to really double-down when the premium weeks pop up, but step aside on weeks like this, just so I don't start fighting over the junk and lose potential investment money.

Does anyone know what service the domain budonline .ca is using for their landing page? I like how it has a tab which shows all other domains they have, as well as a link to Godaddy's appraisal tool. Nothing fancy but I like it.

The .CA To Be Released / TBR Weekly Picks for July 10 are online:

The .CA numbers only dropped slightly this week, but the overall quality remained very low and there really no true premium options on the list. Our Top Picks list is again mostly mid-range LLL domains, including...

In terms of Ganja-Brands, I really like Smokables.ca/Smokeables.ca (you probably have to buy both) as a hipster brand. Of course, nothing equals PotChocolate.ca for edibles.

From your blog, prefer CBDExtract

https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&q=Cannabis,Marijuana,Cbd,Hemp,Canna

and Seedz (short, sweet and brandable)

But do agree with PotChocolate (top 8 on my list)

I like those as well, and there sure seems to be a lot of Weed Drops lately. CBDExtract should be an early pick for anyone looking at Ganja names.

I also like Weedery.ca for some reason.
