.uk .UK domain name release

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Is anyone registering .UK domains? They opened registration for anyone and there's a bunch of great one-word domains up for grabs. I haven't heard much about this extension on this forum and wanted to know all of your take.

UK residents already owning the .CO.UK extension received first dibs of its equivalent but now it's open registration. These .UK names seems to be much more better and catchy than .co.uk, but we'll see how things go. I suppose it's still too early to say.

There's still many great domains up for grab.

Hello,

I'm a noob into domaining and I think I've overdone it with the .uk domains as a lot of people told me there is almost no value in them.

So far I was able to catch the following :

bestmates.uk
cashout.uk
cryptolab.uk
dishy.uk
fitnessgym.uk
lawyerdirectory.uk
londonlawyer.uk
londonsolicitor.uk
medschool.uk
megayacht.uk
moneyorder.uk
mybody.uk
privatecoach.uk
saleauto.uk
tireshop.uk

What do you guys think ?

So tell us about the .uk part again. :) Seriously though, weren't there some rule changes on registrations in .UK between 2014 and 2019. I think that some non-UK registrars still required a UK postal address for the Admin service contact.

Regards...jmcc

I'm not sure if

.uk

Has restrictions on it but then being in the uk I wouldn't see the restrictions if they were listed etc but if I see for example

.fr
.es
.it
.de

I see that these other countries do have restrictions etc so

.uk

Might have or still does have restrictions associated with purchasing

.uk

Domain names etc

But best place to see

.Co.uk

And

.uk

Website addresses in auction is on

Domainlore. uk

There have just been listed some premium

One word

.uk

Website addresses That are due to start in auction this week which already have pre bids on them

Some good prices should be achieved

Well, another day and a lot more emails from Godaddy stating you didn't get it.
I have learned my lesson and if there is another release like this I will not use SlowDaddy.
0 for 27 and counting

I made a tweak to my drop catching code and it fired a second too early :xf.rolleyes:. I was being a little too ambitious.

On to tomorrow... t - z

Aye. I was gunning for profile.uk, rail.uk and some random lll.uks in the first fire. Glad that you got a decent 3l.

All week I've been relying on DAC responses to ensure that I start regging at the right time but I used my log data to make a decision to fire slightly earlier.

I don't envy those having to use Godaddy and others, it's much better to be at the forefront of these things even if you do only have 9 requests per minute.

I'm also glad it's over to be honest, it's a bit of a ride every day but it's taking up a lot of my time.

I think I might start a drop system after all of this... it seems like it could be fun (y).

After the first hit bounced with failed registrations, the best name that I got today is 'snog'. I wanted it cause I bought and sold the .me equivalent a few months ago for a decent profit.

It’s not as easy as this release when you run a normal system it takes alot more code to get a decent catch

Doesn't worth the headache and nonsense pre-pay & refund. Going back to focus on .com

No kidding. I just received another 80+ emails of all domains I didnt get. What a waste of time, energy, and resources. Not one new one. After over 250 pre-registered, only captured one. Still waiting for other notices.

Sorry to hear that my friend. I'd be interested to know which names you were trying to go for if you wouldn't mind sharing?

Sorry to break it to you, but quite a few of those names didn't drop in the RoR release :chicken:

Some of them did though and like you say you really were going for gold. Those names and many others that are down right mediocre went in an instant. I wouldn't be surprised that you didn't get them seeing how quickly the decent ones are going.

Perhaps people with only .COM experience and little experience of the UK market don't realise how competitive the .UK ccTLD market is in terms of dropcatching and reselling?

Yes they don't know they had plenty of tags but no real clue on software they had the top tier connection at 150 requests so they should of invested something into it if they wanted the top tier names oh well never mind...
