A lot of domain investors also invest in crypto currency it seems as of late. I usually feel pretty confident that a domain I carefully acquire today will be a 10x+ my investment including holding time. If say, I were to buy bitcoin today, is it feasible that i would get 10x my money?

What up crypto fam?

Shout out to all the 'domain name investors' who think they would have bought and kept the best names in 1994/5 if they were around......

Who don't own any crypto.

Pouring one out to you .

Crypto probably more glaringly an opportunity today versus domain names back then tbh

Domain names are really valuable. You can make money developing them and selling things through them

I still do not understand what makes crypto valuable. You can not make any money out of it .

Crypto is now the biggest world casinos. And I do not like gambling

Not talking about difficulties buying them and the high fees at least for me in my country

Crypto is money, the greatest money in the history of mankind.

It's ok though, cars were controversial and made a mockery of by those in carriages/ horses in early 20th century. Cars were slow, couldn't go far, heavy and couldn't go over basic pot holes and handle bad roads well.

Blockchain technology is fascinating!

I wish to see presidential voting in countries ruled by dictators

I wish to see poor people can have bank account and send and receive money for free

It is a big dream and certainly it will change dramatically our future

Of course !

That’s ridiculous. Over time the stock market has consistently gone up. It’s the best long term investment there is even better than real estate given the cost of repair and property taxes.

Only big institutions can wait 5-10 years . But individuals most probably will sell and buy and the total is loss at the long term

For bitcoin market is more volatile. You can not advise some to buy it now at 10k and when he needs the money the price is back at 3000 again

Your comments on the stock market are misguided perhaps because you’ve never been in it. I’d suggest keeping your comments to investments for which you have personal experience. I get the feeling you’re not invested in BTC either.

Go tell that to the people who lost their retirement funds in 2007, 2008, 2009.

You too speak from lack of personal experience. The fact that you list 2007 - a banner year for stocks - as a year when anyone could have possibly lost anything, reflects this too.

No one lost anything in 1929, 1987, 2008 or any other year, unless he was on margin and was forced to sell, which investors don't hold long term on margin. I actually held all through 2008 myself, and my stocks are now higher than they ever were in 2007. I also held through the panic in early 2016, and the panic at the end of 2018, everything I have in the stock market is much higher than it ever was during any of those drops.

You're apparently a very short term trader. 90% of you very short term traders will lose money. Nearly all long term investors make money.

That nobody would come to unless you can provide valuable content that adds some sort of unique value.

Yeah that’s true it wouldn’t be anything if no body came to it and if no body came to it there would be no content. Exactly like NamePros.com

sorry but there is no comparison

until now cryptocurrencies are entities without even a tangible digital or commercial value

a domain, even the ugliest ones, is a tangible digital entity from where to do all kinds of activity (commercial - non commercial )

So every dollar invested in a domain is better supported than any cryptocurrency, now, and before. that's why this phenomenon surprised everyone

because nobody, or very few people who know about business (serious and solid) are willing to invest money in something that although it is worth a lot, does not have any commercial value.

In other words, the currency of any poor country has more value than any crypto.

In the beginning, human civilization could not imagine trading something that was neither useful nor could be eaten for anything else useful or edible. We had only the barter system. If it wasn't useful or edible it was of no value.

Around 3000 B.C., humans started using objects such as gold as a tradable currency. In the 7th century in China, and 17th century in Europe, we started using paper currency. By 1971, in the United States paper currency (fiat) was no longer based on gold - became simply backed by the strength of the government.

And now we have crypto, neither useful nor edible, whose value is based on supply and demand, at its core, much the same as fiat.

This one is interesting: Bomb Token

https://bombtoken.com/

A self-destructing currency. Each transfer burns 1% (but at least 1 token) of the transfer value.

I've been following this, the price was quite high recently, now it's down again a bit.

Selling Bitcoin Cash and Loading up on Stellar Coin now! ;)
BTC may drop back to around 9k then shoot up to 12k.

Most of the other coins are garbage. Don’t count on them, especially long term, unless you want your heart broken.
I like garbage that goes up 5x plus in a few months.
Note that BTC has gone up 20% since these two posts...30% for the week, it's actually at 13K now higher even than my predicted 12K, while XLM is actually now 9-10% percent lower than it was a month ago.

In general best to go with industry leaders. Think, AMZN, NFLX, MSFT, GOOGL. BTC is like the blue chip of crypto. XLM is more like penny stocks that might go up, but most penny stocks will go to zero.

By the way, the prediction now is that BTC will take out its old $20K high. This makes sense. Put it this way, IF BTC gets to 20K again this year it will almost assuredly go higher, just the way these things tend to work. When a stock swings back to its prior high it tends to shoot past it, even after short term traders sell it off at that prior high.

Institutions aren't getting into BTC to make a few percent. They are getting into BTC hoping that it will go to 100K. Institutions are what is driving the BTC run at present. And institutions for the most part aren't bothering with the cryptos like XLM and others. Just some things to think about.
